beelikej: (Forget Love)
Last week [personal profile] tanni came over from Belgium for an old fashioned fangirl weekend, we hadn't seen each other in ages! (We met each other in the Nick/Greg corner of the CSI fandom back in 2005 and I followed her into bandom, the Harry Potter Marauders fandom and other more obscure fandoms, heehee (Hornblower, anyone?). We're also book buddies;)

We met up on Friday; I cycled to the station straight from work at 12:30 just when T got off the train. Then she got on the bus to my house while I cycled home. After catching up during an extensive lunch (freshly baked croissants!), we went up to my attic to start one of many marathons on my big screen: the final season of Please Like Me. After dinner we also figured out where to continue with Orphan Black (S3Ep3) and watched a classic CSI episode (S8Ep11: Bull).

On Saturday we had a luxurious breakfast with crossbuns I brought from London, nom! We watched the last two episodes of Please Like Me, continued with S3 of Orphan Black and mixed that up with Galavant to lighten the mood:) An excellent mix of awesome.
In between we did a couple of food experiments: after lunch we made Extreme Triple Chocolate Nests (see Dan & Phil video below) and after dinner we played with my cotton candy machine. Such fun!

And this is how we made them )

We also played with my cotton candy machine! )

On Sunday we finished Orphan Black S3 and ended our get-together with Galavant up to the introduction of Tad Cooper. (I promised T. I'd send her the rest of the season;) It was a wonderful weekend <3

Now I'm gonna get ready to watch the J2 Panel at the SPN Seatle convention on Stage It. EXCITED!

J.

P.S. I'm experimenting with image-archives; for this post I used my old PhotoBucket. Djeez, I don't remember it having so many ads and pop-ups! But Flickr doesn't support posting multiple images, and I don't know other services. All suggestions are welcome!

WoOt, wo0t! Had a long weekend and when I got to work this morning a parcel had arrived with THREE NEW BOOKS \o/ I updated my readinglist:)

I've been disappointed to find out the [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema challenge will be postponed until the autumn. Not the first time one of my favorite events changes plans and I'm very bad at accepting change. Plus I was READY; had a film and medium picked out and everything. First thought was to stop joining challenges alltogether, but maybe I should take this opportunity to sing up for [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling? I don't know... making something anonymously (in both directions) is just so nervewracking, but I do like working on my own and I love the short turnaround.
I still have until Friday to consider, right? I'm still a little too sad to care. Opinions are appreciated.

So, about that long weekend! I had a [livejournal.com profile] sillie82 from Friday until Sunday. There was lots of CSI (3 golden oldies and 13 episodes of Season 15 with a final that has a major impact on our OTP) and a film (Scott Pilgrim vs The World, which S. hadn't seen, so I picked it knowing she's a fan of Chris Evans *grins*) plus of course Supernatural (an episode from S1 with John for meeeeee and five episodes of Season 10, oh wow).
Before we sat down to watch all this on the big screen up in my attic I took S. along on an official touristy city walk through my town. Want to walk with us? We only did half the tour, which already took us four hours, because we are slow thorough.
Of course I made a lot of photos, here's a selection of 24 with minimum text (hahahahaha).

We start behind that bookstore-in-a-church I told you about last time... )
If you want the full history walk and talk, you are welcome to come over;)

Look at me, filling in a meme within a day of being tagged! But first a little update. I'm pretty sure I caught up with answering comments and checking up on my flist, if I did miss anything, poke me! Also: I made a couple of new SPN friends this week: hi! *waves*
In other fandom news: tonight is the final of CSI season 15 already. I still need to watch a lot of episodes before I can admit to what's going to happen. No spoilers, but thanks to my mod duties I already know it will have an effect on one of my eldest OTPs, dundundunnn...

Fortunately I still have the Supernatural guys to play with for another season, they will pull me through;) I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] smpc in April and am looking forward to claiming in [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema and [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang. I'm happy to reveal that my next fanart-project is a collaboration with [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep \o/ We haven't settled on a posting date for this polyamorous (...) story yet, but I'll keep y'all posted on the progress;)

And now, without further ado.... The Letter Meme
[livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7 gave me an E. If you want a letter to play, let me know!

Something I hate: EVERYTHING! Just kidding, although I am pretty much a cynical pessimist. Let me think, something with an E... Oooh, I know, I found a film I absolutely hated when looking for an answer to the last question: Employee Of The Month (2007) - I walked out of that. (Don't blame me for going to see it; it was part of the sneak preview program, where you pay for a surprise film)

Something I love: Eyeballs. No seriously, I'm a big fan and have several 'artsy' renditions of eyeballs though my house. I'll be ordering these cuties from Zoozim@Etsy after my next paycheck comes in.
My E-reader, which I have just filled with fanfic again after taking a break from digital reading in favor of getting through my bookpile;)
Also: The Efteling Fairytale Themepark and The Eurovision Songcontest (ssssht)

Somewhere I've been: England (London, a LOT, it's the theatre that's luring me in;), Egypt (2002), Ecuador (2006), Edmonton (Canada 1999), Emmeloord (Netherlands; lived there from when I was 8 until I was 18)

Somewhere I'd like to go: Edinburgh (when I had a chance to go there after walking the West Highland Way in Scotland, I opted for Glasgow (2001)

Someone I know: [livejournal.com profile] eledhwenlin, E. (my boss)

A film I liked: I'm ashamed to admit nothing came to mind immediately, because after I checked my my movieblog I realized I should have remembered Enchanted, which is one of my favorite films of all time. There's animation, Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey and singing and dancing plus mocking that. Be still my heart.
Going through my record of cinema visits from 2004-2013, I also discovered some other beauties I'd like to recommend: Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004), Elle s'appelait Sarah (2010), Elizabeth (1998 + sequel from 2007), The Edukators (2005) and Elephant (2004). Good thing I write things down, huh? Who knew there were so many good E-movies *g*

Speaking of London: I just booked the Knight bus for the first weekend of April. I'll be available for meet ups on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 (Easter) if anyone is around. (I hope to eat at Choccywoccydoodah and mother Mash, both are near Carnaby Street:)

No update on my personal paperproject WIP; I've been focusing on other art projects. Besides the genre challenge for [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema, I also signed up to make a piece of art for [livejournal.com profile] smpc in December. It was a brainstorming weekend. (Okay, fine, I've mostly been procrastinating, I had a rough week, mkay) I also made a cake, there may be pics of that later.

I sat down to -finally- watch S04Ep12 from Shameless, had not seen the series before, but JDM played a little part in this episode and I just couldn't resist any longer. You may remember I already squeed about that back in April ( check out that fucking head tilt) Dayum that was a fitting role. I wish they could have had him return for S05, but I guess he wasn't available with all those film projects, busy bastard.

I also caught up with CSI and just had to capture some scenes of my favorite guys...
No case-spoilers, just pretty. And a beard. *sighs* Oh well.

Sorry I haven't been around much; I'm feeling a bit like a zombie these days. Will get better, I'm sure. *hugs you all*
beelikej: (Canon CSI Nick & Greg)
Was going to comment with this as a response in the [livejournal.com profile] nickngreg community, but figured my CSI OTP deserves a full post. Fifteen years (15!!!) and still going strong with the subtext \o/ FYI: no, I'm not all of a sudden into beards now, I don't know what's going on with all these men I swoon over. *sharpens razors* Fortunately there are enough features left to squee about. Dimples, jewelry and damn nice... pants.

CSI S15Ep2 with fangirl goggles (definitely not talking about the case;) )
The end.

Oh also: fandoms collided! Richard Speight played a (licensed!) marijuana shopkeeper, haha:)

Off to fiddle with that other guy with the beard and the dimples and the jewelry...
beelikej: (Cowboy Eads)
Good things: love the fandom love on my flist: spread it around, SPN-people, with your adorable countdown-meme to the start of the season. *rolls around in the squee*. Also; [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema is starting up a new bi-monthly challenge, wootwoot, count me in!

I felt some love from my CSI Nick/Gregfandom too, but have yet to see the first episode of season 15 (FIFTEEN!) - I'm a little hesitant because half of my otp now has a beard (the literal hairy kind) and the other forgot to style his hair and I don't want to be shallow, but... oh who am I kidding, I watch for the pretty, okay? This lack of consideration for my preferences better get fixed soon!

Not so good: yesterday afternoon we got a visit of some people from victimcare ("slachtofferhulp") at work to help me and the co-worker to -finally- express our feelings about the kidnapping of the bossman in May. Since we had five months to think about that and the consequences, we had a lot to talk about. Yet I had not expected to feel so out of sorts after it; I have not slept well last night and I'm exhausted. There will be a follow up appointment at home with a 'personal' counselor next week. I guess I better make a list of stuff to unload.

More good things: I'm going to The Hague tomorrow afternoon, because my brother scored me a ticket for the World Wide Cinema Event of Stephen Fry presenting his new book More Fool Me. (I may have already mentioned that when I updated my booklist to reread the first two parts of his biography:). He will do the presentation on stage in London, but it will be shown live in cinemas all over the world, so cool. Looking very much forward to that. Will work half a day and then start the long journey to the West:) Will report when I get back home!

Oh, question; would anyone be interested if I did WIP progress posts while I'm working on my own art-project? I'm thinking about sharing to keep me going since it's not for a running challenge. (It would also save me time when I'm ready to reveal;)
beelikej: (Groovy Greg)
A short and quick update today because I'm still in the middle of a fangirlmarathon with [livejournal.com profile] sillie82. Yesterday afternoon we watched the latest episodes of CSI season 13, four in total; I decided to skip the one about Hodges and we didn't watch the final because it was a to-be-continued so we'll save that for our S14 marathon. Before bed we watched two Supernatural episodes: S8Ep8 (Hunter Heroici) and S8Ep11 (LARP and the Real Girl).

(Per tradition I pick the CSIs and Sillie the SPNs, taking special wishes of the other into consideration of course;)

This morning we slept in a bit and after breakfast we started with Being Human season 1. It's superhot up in the attic already, but we managed to survive thanks to my huge fan and plenty of water and cool down breaks (in which we checked up on Tumblr and talked about fandom a lot:) After lunch we brought up bowls of water to soak our feet in and we put wet hankies in our neck;)

We just had dinner and will now take our sorbet desserts upstairs to accompany us for season 2. \o/
beelikej: (Canon CSI Nick & Greg)
Last night I caught up with CSI and treated myself to a double feature of the latest two episodes. I enjoyed the cases, but I wish TPTB would stop dragging relationship issues in. I so don't care and I long for the days when the team worked on two cases simultaneously so they didn't have time for ridiculous romance. As usual I'm going to ignore the whole Hodges situation.
However much I miss Grissom, I hate that his only involvement is not even case-related. In my head canon Sara/Grissom never happened, because both of them are emotionally stunted individuals who never had a personal conversation ever. Besides: my Gil Grissom would stay single forever. Except for maybe the ocassional intellectually stimulating flirting and physical explorations with lady Heather and that lady from the antropology department and possibly some intimate tutoring of Nick and Greg; he thrives on his own. So I wish TPTB would stop trying to make GSR happen. They should just stick to science and leave the soap-opera to fandom, we're obviously much better at writing that;)

For more (and shorter) thoughts on recent CSI and in particular Nick/Greg, I refer you to my comments in the new episode discussion posts in [livejournal.com profile] nickngreg: Ep 11 Ep 12 /communitypromotion

Below I've screencapped a lovely Nick/Greg moment from episode 2!
Because under the surface of canon, there is obviously one true pairing )

CSI: Nick/Greg S13Ep1
beelikej: (Canon CSI Nick & Greg)
Even though I'm now quite active in the SPN_J2 fandom, I'm also still keeping an eye on my original OTP in CSI. Not my first fangirling couple, because that was in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom, but all those Whedon pairings (het, slash, fem;) were practically canon. CSI was where I first noticed (un)intentional subtext on screen and the Nick/Greg fandom was the reason I started this journal, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

To show old and new fans that the chemistry between those guys is still there, I decided to document my squee for season 13 (THIRTEEN!!!). Hope you join me:) Enjoy.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation S13 - Ep1 Karma to Burn [Sep. 26, 2012]
[While Ecklie fights for his life after his shooting, Russell's patience begins to wear thin as the team tries to get to his kidnapped granddaughter before she is killed.]

CSI: Cute Subtext Inquiry, Nick/Greg edition
Nick is in a pissy mood and gets drunk, says he's gonna quit (again).
In the mean time Greg investigates Ecklie's shooting. He lets Nick stew and then makes him pay for behaving like a brat by letting Sara have at him.

Warning for grumpy leaning BAMF )

I may do meta/whine posts on Nick's hair in the future. Because what the hell? I also noticed something interesting about his big ass ring, will share that in later investigations;)

The "I've been thinking about how to answer this since April"-MEME
1. Comment on this post with "MEEEEEE!"
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your IJ/LJ/DW.
[livejournal.com profile] tanisafan gave me an S. (Yes, in april. What? I'm thorough.)

Sid
[Sliders, episode El Sid]

Oh, come on, how could I not: I had to include a character played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I can't help it; I'm still massively fangirling the man, even though I can't watch his new series because of my issues. For that same reason I should have avoided Sid as well; hell, his horrid beard alone was enough to make me shiver and not in a good way. But it's JDM and he mostly makes me giggle, because Sid is such a dumb ass. *shakes head fondly*
You can find more Sid in all his bad boy glory in this Sliders picspam I made a while ago;)

Sirius Black
[Harry Potter]
It wasn't until I reread The Goblet Of Fire that I understood how tight the relationship was between Sirius and Harry; I had forgotten because of the tournament-story-line and because none of it ended up in the film. (You have to watch Prisoner of Azkaban and The Order Of The Phoenix for their most intense scenes). Gary Oldman is the best Sirius I could have imagined, but my favorite will always be the one in the books:)
There is also this result I got in the Ultimate Harry Potter Personality Quiz:

Just so you know;)
Funniest real life reference to Sirius Black: "I DID MY WAITING"

Seregil í Korit Solun Meringil Bôkthersa
[Nightrunner books]
I'm not posting an image of Seregil; although he is portrayed -in different ways- on the covers of the book and there is also plenty of fan art, I prefer to keep him in my head as I imagine him from the stories. (Warning: googling may lead to nsfw images;)
He is one of the main characters in another one of my favorite bookseries: Nightrunners. I posted my review of the first two books today! Seregil is the quiet type, but luckily we get to see the world from his point of view and often it's filled with feelings of despair and guilt. I guess I have a thing for characters who are not too cheerful;)

Sofia Curtis
[CSI: Crime Scene Investigation]

I desperately wanted a lady in this list and since CSI is still one of my favorite tv-shows, I picked Sofia. Because good old Sara was part of that storyline I ignore (IT NEVER HAPPENED, OKAY) but Sofia was always awesome. I wish she was still a CSI, but she is more than welcome to show up in her new part as a detective. Please, Powers That Be?
(I've been crushing on actrice Louise Lombard ever since The House of Eliott, *sighs*)

Spike
[Buffy The Vampire Slayer & Angel]

Heh, from this list it looks like I have a thing for bad boys, but you all know that vampire Spike is really a softy inside. His snark and cynicism are mostly used to cover up al his feeeeeeeeeeelings. Ahw.

I'll end with a link to a gifset of one of my favorite Spike-scenes: sitting on a rooftop, giving a running sarcastic commentary on Angel saving a damsel in distress

Well, that's another one of those chores off my "I should really do this when I have time"-list, woohoo. This was fun! I also did some laundry today, which means I have to make my bed as well, so that's a bit of regular housework done, go me). Oh, and I posted a book review (see link above), that's another thing from the vacation-list, hope I keep that up;)

I tried to read today, but was so shocked by the OOC-ness of J2 in the BigBang fic I picked, that I'm scared to try another one. *pouts* Am determined to give it another shot tonight. If you have any recommendations, let me know! There is so much to choose from:)
beelikej: (Shoes Of Confidence)
Did I already mention I'm participating in another SPN-challenge? Well, I am! I claimed a wonderful Werewolf story in the [livejournal.com profile] john_w_bigbang (a John Winchester & Jeffrey Dean Morgan BB) and am having inspirational chats with the author. Can't wait to get started on the artwork for real this weekend. *rubs hands*

Took a peek in the shoe-store during my afternoon break and walked out ten minutes later with a new pair of shoes, woohoo.
Loooooooook )

Finally: the belated Picspam of Pretty for [livejournal.com profile] sillie82's birthday. I'm not revealing her age, but I promised her 30 photos of Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) and Eric Szmanda (CSI). *grins*
I made a collection of semi-identical sets with both of these guys, so you can play 'spot the difference' or more likely 'what are the similarities, even'. Have fun!

Here they are! )
beelikej: (JDM CSI)
I should know by now that Saturdays are not good for to-do-lists. My body and brain are so relieved to be free from work and its obligation of getting dressed and keeping to a schedule, that they both give me this put upon sigh instead of their cooperation. So as usual I didn't do anything as planned today.
I did manage to feed myself in between hanging out online though, so yay. Laundry and dishes will have to wait until tomorrow. Or Monday, since I have a long weekend \o/ But I want to get most stuff done on Sunday, because I have a massage appointment on Monday and I'd like to be as relaxed as possible to fully enjoy it:)

It's not like I did nothing, it's just that I spent most of my time in a different fandom than I had meant to. Hope my ReverseBang authors don't panic; I will deliver J2/JDM/SPN related artwork as promised. But not today.

Today I cleaned up the WMTDB fanfic archives for the Nick/Greg community and I uploaded a bunch of fanvids to the NicknGreg YouTube Channel

Here, have one of my favorites )
It was made for my birthday in 2005 by [livejournal.com profile] fabiale after I told her how much I loved that song by The Cure. I had only just joined the Nick/Greg fandom. Fangirls FTW \o/

Oh, I also signed up for another BigBang. You can still join in as author or artist at the [livejournal.com profile] john_w_bigbang: for artworks featuring John Winchester or Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Rough drafts and claims aren't due until February 2012, I should be done with all my other challenges by then *grins*
beelikej: (Not funny)
It's so quiet in the [livejournal.com profile] nickngreg community. *sighs* From the comments on last week's episode it seems people have even lost the ability to see my OTP. Granted, TPTB don't make it easy, but believe me when I tell you the chemistry is still there. When those guys don't hang together, I still get satisfaction from them individually. Greg's ability to age backwards, Nick's wardrobe; they both provide me with plenty to ogle.
So allow me to share my slash goggles and show you what I mean.

S12Ep5 CSI Down: a summary in Nick/Greg screencaps )

Now next week I want you all with me. I have comfy chairs and a big screen. Fandom, unite!

I've never done one of these html/text thingies before. Let's see if this works, because I really want to promote this challenge and hope to get more people enthused to poke others and so on and so on. I know it's a tiny and old fandom but I believe even after eleven years these guys are still worth playing with;) Want to join me?

After an absolutely useless day yesterday (and ditto feelings) I managed to pull myself together this morning. Spent hours doing modwork for [livejournal.com profile] nickngreg, but had loads of fun reminiscing, so well worth it. Most of that was behind the scenes, but I also posted a collection of good old scenes: come on, take a stroll down memory lane with Nick and Greg, you know you want to;)

I also made a picspam of my day in The Hague (with an overdose of cute nephew Ruben;)
beelikej: (Kiss)
I know it's probably already tomorrow Down Under, but over here I'm still celebrating today, so Happy Birthday, Kennedy! For old times' sake I made a wallpaper with nostalgia!Nick and never-aging Greg (Season 11 and he looks younger than in the pilot, the bastard).

Let's go, baby )

OTP forever \o/

Hope you had a great day!

I know your current OTP is J2 but since I'm working on my art for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema challenge, I can't afford to part with any of my Jensen or Jared pics, so instead I fiddled with Nick and Greg, especially for you (it was a tough job;) Hope you like those old boys...

Finally got to celebrate my birthday at work this morning (since I share mine with the bossman and our birthdays are always a holiday, we always postpone cake and presents until everybody is back to work:) I got a basket full of bath- and showerstuff.

Finished reading The Fry Chronicles this afternoon, quite an unexpected ending; I thought there was gonna be more. We aren't even done with the eighties yet! Guess I'll just have to wait for part three of Stephen Fry's autobiographies.

Watched the new CSI tonight. No spoilers here but I do want to share how I felt about it )
