Hello! This is what we used to call the comment-to-be-added-post, also known as "sticky" for 2017.
My journal is not locked and you are most welcome to quietly read all my posts or to comment on any of them at any time. (I especially love responses to my artposts *grins*)
Despite my occasional use of harsh language and posts about sensitive or personal subjects, I chose to not put a teen or adult warning on my journal. I will not censor what I choose to share online. I'm a green left voting atheist woman, hear me roar!

I love lots of old and new fandoms, but these days I am mostly playing at the RPS side in the Supernatural fandom. Wanna see my artwork? Here's my masterlist of artsy fiddling on LJ [on DW]
I'm also a moderator for a couple of fancommunities; there are links in my sidebar if you want to explore:)

To remind myself there is more to life than being online,
I keep my booklist at the top of my LJ. That's ironic, Alanis.

Oh hey, hi! Is everybody finaly back from JIBcon and is attention no longer distracted by the SPN season final? Then I'd like to point your fandomfaces in the direction of my art that I posted while everyone was busy with other things *grins*

SLEEPING BEAUTY on Livejournal and also SLEEPING BEAUTY on Dreamwidth

P.S. the dimples of annoyance are the only thing that are left of the original passive aggresive post I had planned :-p I'm learning, okay.

Last week [personal profile] tanni came over from Belgium for an old fashioned fangirl weekend, we hadn't seen each other in ages! (We met each other in the Nick/Greg corner of the CSI fandom back in 2005 and I followed her into bandom, the Harry Potter Marauders fandom and other more obscure fandoms, heehee (Hornblower, anyone?). We're also book buddies;)

We met up on Friday; I cycled to the station straight from work at 12:30 just when T got off the train. Then she got on the bus to my house while I cycled home. After catching up during an extensive lunch (freshly baked croissants!), we went up to my attic to start one of many marathons on my big screen: the final season of Please Like Me. After dinner we also figured out where to continue with Orphan Black (S3Ep3) and watched a classic CSI episode (S8Ep11: Bull).

On Saturday we had a luxurious breakfast with crossbuns I brought from London, nom! We watched the last two episodes of Please Like Me, continued with S3 of Orphan Black and mixed that up with Galavant to lighten the mood:) An excellent mix of awesome.
In between we did a couple of food experiments: after lunch we made Extreme Triple Chocolate Nests (see Dan & Phil video below) and after dinner we played with my cotton candy machine. Such fun!

And this is how we made them )

We also played with my cotton candy machine! )

On Sunday we finished Orphan Black S3 and ended our get-together with Galavant up to the introduction of Tad Cooper. (I promised T. I'd send her the rest of the season;) It was a wonderful weekend <3

Now I'm gonna get ready to watch the J2 Panel at the SPN Seatle convention on Stage It. EXCITED!

J.

P.S. I'm experimenting with image-archives; for this post I used my old PhotoBucket. Djeez, I don't remember it having so many ads and pop-ups! But Flickr doesn't support posting multiple images, and I don't know other services. All suggestions are welcome!

Last weekend I traveled to Amsterdam for two days of fangirling with [livejournal.com profile] sillie82 and [livejournal.com profile] bflyw (who flew in from Norway with her daughter A.). On Sunday evening I took the train to Schiphol airport to pick up B. & A. and accompany them to their hotel. I spent the night at my brother's.
On Monday S. joined us and we hung out in the hotelroom to chat and watch Supernatural before strolling through town until it was time for the Station Breaks concert (Check out [livejournal.com profile] bflyw's glorious photos!).
On Tuesday we watched some more Supernatural together and explored Amsterdam a bit more. I had a great time:) Here are some photos of our walks...

Day 2: Chocolate and Canals )

Speaking of fangirl meet ups: I'll be in London at the end of March. If you're in the neighborhood for tea, let me know!

Meant to do the thing right after breakfast (a light meal: 2 beschuitjes with cheese and a glass of orange juice with pulp) but then my Twitterfeed filled up with reports from the Saturday Night Special at the Las Vegas Convention, so I got distracted;) I always get so giddy when my friends are having fun and from the looks and sounds of it, this was one of those unforgetable concerts.
[livejournal.com profile] dugindeep shot some marvelous vids, here's Ruth doing a beautiful version of Bang Bang; and here's a Jensen singing for his Brother <3

After the concert, I could finally drag myself away from the screen and do my Chapter 12 Work-Out. There were two choices, I decided to go with the one that I would like to imagine myself choosing in a post apocalyptic world....

Okay, I'm using too many things as an excuse for not having time to keep up with fandom. Today I finally checked out this week's [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang artwork and I was appalled at the lack of comments all over. As a participant I always hope this long running fandom challenge pulls together at least all artists to rejoice in the celebration of fanART, but with one or two exceptions (ONE or TWO, as in that's the amount of comments on each piece of artwork!!!), it seems like everyone is too busy to compliment fellow artists. Or maybe everybody is simply ~hearting~ things on Tumblr? That's good, because I ain't doing that, so I hope art that's only posted there gets some attention too.
I'm going to focus on all the RB artwork on LiveJournal every day for the next few weeks. If you are still involved in the SPN fandom, I recommend you do the same. Support content creators, people!

This means I'm gonna cut down my Age of Pandora posts to simple check offs as soon as I've done a Chapter. I'll also keep updating my videolist for each next work-out, just no more long reviews for a while.

Chapter 11 favorite (spoiler for exercise) )

My cold is nearly gone, hopefully I can try to do more than Level 1 soon...

If you rather check out my artwork than my travelposts, I posted some papercutting for the [livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang yesterday: Mission Accomplished.

If you've seen that already or prefer strolling through Amsterdam with me and [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams and having lunch with her and [livejournal.com profile] sillie82, here are some photos of our fangirl meet up two weeks ago:)

A quick post before I start trying a new work-out for the next 30 Days Challenge... (more about that later:)
Because I wanted to share the creative gifts I received in [livejournal.com profile] milly_gal's Arts&Crafts Exchange! The awesome [livejournal.com profile] angelus2hot spoiled me with two presents: she crocheted an adorable piggy AND made me a silver JDM necklace with red swarovski hearts! <3

Look at its cute little snout!

The piggy is standing on my computer speaker and I wrapped the necklace around its neck, so I can look at it every time I'm behind my desk :-)

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] angelus2hot, I LOVE IT <3<3 It continually makes me smile (It's so ME;)

Also: I made quite a bit of fanart in the past few weeks!
While checking links I noticed it's a very eclectic collection of collaborations:
Quicky_Bang 2: papercutting and watercolour banner for The Ice Age
SPN Meant to Be 2: bookcovers and dress-up doll for The Roommate
SPN_J2 BigBang pinch hit: animated storybanner plus dividers and photo-scenes for Begin to Begin Again

Last but not least: SIGN UPS for the NEW Matchmaker Challenge at the [livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang are open! You can join in all of July to get a short surprise fic to create art for. *bounces* I had TWO of my requests in the Spring 2016 round of [livejournal.com profile] spn_masquerade filled!
I got glorious J3 art made by [livejournal.com profile] dephigravity for my prompt of fanboys Jensen and Jared ending up in their idol JDM's hotelroom: Fan Service So very NC-17 and NSFW \o/

I also received a PWP fic: How to Manage a Skittish Jensen by [livejournal.com profile] loracine, based on The anal hook always makes Jensen tense up, but having the privilege of suckling on Jared's cock offers comfort and distraction. J2 | NC-17 | 1181 words | D/s anal play *shivers with delight*

To recommend another fic that rocked my world, I made fanart myself:) Because this Jeff/Jared story has been on my mind ever since I read it in last year's Masquerade; it's such a cute pairing. In the mean time [livejournal.com profile] keep_waking_up wrote an equally adorable and hot sequel, that you should read next.
Be aware: despite the look of the art this is NOT an innocent G-rated kids' story! Pay attention to the enticements/warnings;) No bestiality though, if you were wondering about that. *grins*

Title: The Fluff Hunter
Author: [livejournal.com profile] keep_waking_up
Pairing: JDM/Jared
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 4,993
Enticements/Warnings: crack, werecreatures, slight dub-con, self lubrication, age difference
Summary: Jeff thinks the hunt's gonna be a simple one. He doesn’t expect to run into a lion ‘were searching for his mate.
Sequel: Sheepehs, Clouds, Puffs, and Fluffs

A short making off )

Now, go check out all the goodies above and leave some love to [livejournal.com profile] dephigravity, [livejournal.com profile] loracine and [livejournal.com profile] keep_waking_up!! I adore them all. *smishes*.

From participating in the Snowflake challenge earlier this year, I learned there are a lot of authors wishing for art to go with their stories and a lot of artists with a desire to create. Both were not sure how to approach each other. I hope to bring y'all together in this new Supernatural art-community: [livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang!

The main challenge is for authors to offer short stories to artists for inspiration, but there is also a corner for art-prompts and a meet up post for collaborations. Stories can be old or new, as long as they have less than 5000 words and no art, you can offer them in this post. Or click the banner below for more information!

[livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang
Round 1: submit short stories until April 30th; create art before May 31st

If you like this idea, please help me promote the community, there are promo banners and an introduction here!

Let's get this party started!
(If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, leave them here or in the sticky post)

Unclogged the sink in my shower this morning \o/ Of course after that the little voice in my head convinced me I'd already achieved my chores-quotum for the day, allowing me to procrastinate for a large part of the day BUT I eventually managed to ignore that voice and did my full hour work out with Gilad, go me.
Heehee, my #climbit tweet about Jared being confused was retweeted and liked a LOT (over 200 times and counting!) I love fandom.
And on that note, it's time for:

Today is another one that a lot of folks find difficult, because a lot of us have been taught we shouldn't talk about ourselves, that's it's vain, or boastful. But isn't sharing what we make, for the fandoms that we adore, a big part of the fun?

DAY 03: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

I'm fortunate to receive plenty of love and attention for most of my artprojects, especially since I started playing with paper and clay. I guess those are now kind of signature BeeLikeJ arts & crafts:) I do however like to try new things and aim to find different ways to mix media. These three recs represent that.

First up an artset that was rather underrated in my opinion, or it just felt that way because my other two collaborations in that year's ReverseBang got a lot of attention in comparison;). Maybe my idea got lost in execution, but I had a lot of fun experimenting with melted crayons and adding digital effects to my marker portraits. I wanted the artwork to look like those old fashioned superhero comics with cheap/bad colouring. I was quite pleased with the result, but feel free to offer concrit, I love to hear what you think either way!
A Different Kind Of Superhero
J2 | PG13 (for bare chested Matt Cohen;) | Made for RB2013

Next a more recent piece that I love a lot, but perhaps not everybody noticed because it was posted outside of a community-challenge. The artwork is a handmade combination of cut out drawings and photos which I digitally turned into an animated banner. I made it for a marvelous story written by [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, whose summary also describes the art: "As a law student, Jensen's used to long, sleepless nights. What he's not used to is all the headboard banging and cries for Big Daddy happening in the apartment next door that keep him up all night."
Dear Neighbours
J2D | R-rated (is that Jared's naked butt? Yes, yes it is) | Polyamory fic!

It's obvious from my artmasterlist who my favorite subject is, so my third rec is a totally self indulgent project that was totally an excuse to fantasize like woah while I was fiddling with his paper body:
Guardian Angel Jeff
JDM | G-rated (he's all dressed up for a chance *g*) | With links to an extensive making of process

Happy New Year Y'all! My best wishes for 2016, may it be a better year than the last one:)

As promised, here are my personal answers to the fandom-questions I asked:
What social media did you start or stop using in 2015? )
Were you more or less involved with fandom this year as a result of that? )
Do you prefer to comment or rather leave kudos or hearts or likes? )

Any input is appreciated! I for one am -once again- determined to be more active on LiveJournal. If I missed anything and you want me to take a look at personal posts, artwork or fic, let me know!

Last but not least: I made a new sticky post that is also my readinglist for 2016:)

2015: Life

Dec. 31st, 2015 02:40 pm
beelikej: (Fireworks)
We did it! We made it through the year, go us *hugs you all* I'm glad you were around to blog to and am still thrilled I finally got to meet some of you in person. My roadtrip through the USA with darling [livejournal.com profile] tmn1966 was definitely the highlight of the year:)
Two other events stand out for me in 2015: I bought a mobile phone (and as expected got hooked on the internet even more) and, ehm, I lost my job of nearly 20 years. Right.

With the failing business it was not really a surprise, but a shock nevertheless. It changed my life rather drastically and even after four months of unemployment I still can't manage to get through the days properly. It's been very confrontational to discover how much my time and self image were linked to work. I'm a hard worker, dedicated and precise and great at planning, but when I'm at home I procrastinate like woah and get nothing done. It sucks.

But while I miss my job, I have no regrets about leaving; the last few years the atmosphere was very toxic and damaging to my emotional and mental health. I'm looking forward to find a new, challenging and happier place to work for the next twenty years;)

I'm lucky to live in a country where I get unemployment benefits. It's enough to pay my monthly bills and I only need be careful about what I spend on groceries. I don't have to adjust much otherwise; I just can't make travelplans. Thanks to the holidays and my recent birthday my bookpile is high enough and if I do want to treat myself I still have some giftcertificates I got from happy clients \o/
So I don't have to worry about money while spending my time applying for jobs.
I also have a ticket for the New Year's Eve lottery, so who knows;)

In regards to fandom, I have some questions for y'all:
  • What social media did you start or stop using in 2015?
(If you're looking for me: I have the same name on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, AO3, Dreamwidth, YouTube and possibly other places I don't remember right now;)
  • Were you more or less involved with fandom this year as a result of that?
  • Do you prefer to comment or rather leave kudos or hearts or likes?

  • (I received an unprecedented amount of "likes" on my Twitter link to my most recent artpost ; I appreciate knowing that people noticed, but I can't tell if that's the new way of leaving love?)

I was going to answer the questions myself and write more about this subject, but will have to postpone all that to my first post of next year, since this is already long and I'm supposed to cycle to my mom's before the fireworks in my neighbourhood get out of hand... (Officially people can't light them until 6 p.m., but they have already started. To avoid getting angry about the fucking noise, I try to keep track of how much money they just blow up in the air, it's strangely satisfying;)

As a final note I would love to squee about this year in the Supernatural fandom: as a big fan of the RPF side of the sandbox I was delighted to see all things Jensen & Jared in Austin and Vancouver with bonus Jeff at conventions. Gosh, these three, they make me so happy. <3<3<3

    J.
    beelikej: (Artwork by me)
Wow, has it really been three months since I last posted fanart? Huh. Guess time flew by while I was busy trying to find a new job. Not that I haven't been fiddling with paper in between: I made some personal things, did arts & crafts for Sinterklaas celebrations and worked on the ReverseBang project. That won't be presented until next year though, so this will be the last time in 2015 to share some actual fanart, yay!
I was commissioned by [livejournal.com profile] tipsy_kitty who bid on me for a fandom auction and donated to support the refugees from Syria. She asked for a portrait of young Sam/Jared and now that it finally has been delivered to her, I can show y'all what I made...

As a reference I chose one of my favorite Sam scenes from S02Ep17 - Heart: the one with that sweet smile. (Let's remember the happy moment from this episode and not dwell on what happens next, okay? *sniffles*)
If you want to see the final artwork right away, click here; I'm going to first picspam the process chronologically;)

Step by step making of... )

    The result... )
Thanks again,[livejournal.com profile] tipsy_kitty for bidding on my offer of fanart and for giving me another excuse opportunity to work with Jared Padalecki's face:)

I'd love to hear what y'all think of this!

Because I feel so powerless about the situation and the horrid responses from people in my country (The Netherlands) and other Europeans towards refugees looking for a safe place, I'd like to at least spread awareness about the refugee situation. To promote donations of any kind, I ask your attention for the charity auction set up by [livejournal.com profile] fandom4syria: As many of you have likely seen on various newspapers and news stations around the world, millions of people from Syria have been displaced by the fighting going on in the country. Some have fled to the surrounding Middle Eastern nations but as those neighbors have been maxed out many more have continued onward to Europe and elsewhere in search of a safe place to live. Many have traveled with very little if anything in the way of day to day needs and the various agencies are struggling to provide anything more than just the bare essentials for so many people. [livejournal.com profile] alycat made a post on her journal highlighting the difficulties the refugees are facing and asking for help going above and beyond to take care of them. [livejournal.com profile] lady_simoriah is amplifying that call and passing it along to all of you by running this charity community.

Since I currently lack the financial means to donate more money,
I'm offering a piece of paperart, my thread starts here.

More fanwork-offers in the auction or buy it now posts! The auction runs until October 22.

For background information I recommend this interactive impression of a refugee's journey by the BBC.

After all the hassle of me getting to the USA, finally starting our roadtrip was extra awesome. We got in the car a little after 2 pm on Wednesday August 5 with [livejournal.com profile] tmn1966 behind the wheel. I had originally planned to try and drive, but with the loss of our chill-day to practice and the intimidating traffic with very different rules from the Netherlands, I soon decided that was not going to happen. I'm so very happy T didn't mind; she's a great driver and even allowed me to pick the music! <3 Are you ready to join us? Hop in!

To be continued! --> part 3: Missouri, Route 66

    part 1: Amsterdam to Ohio
    beelikej: (To See The World...)
With my BigBang-artwork done, it hit me this weekend that I only have two weeks (TWO WEEKS!!!) to go before my trip to the USA and meeting [livejournal.com profile] tmn1966 in real life!
We were thrilled with the response to our announcement from all of y'all who want to hang out during our Route 66 Roadtrip from Ohio to Texas <3
(Calling on [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7, [livejournal.com profile] zubeneschamali, [livejournal.com profile] quickreaver, [livejournal.com profile] bt_kady and [livejournal.com profile] sienata to confirm that we included your location in our schedule below!)

After lots of mails back and forth we came up with the following tentative route.
If YOU (yes, you) are interested in getting together for a drink, lunch, dinner or a sleep over PLEASE PM EITHER OF US so we can exchange email and phonenumbers for specific dates and times to meet up! Even if you just want to wave at us driving by, we'd love to know:) You can also directly mail me at beelikej@gmail.com.

    Our Roadtrip Intinerary )

We also welcome any suggestions for places to visit or local specialities to try.

*Oh and if you're curious about our mystery destination, you can find it in our 2011 SPN Reverse Bang collaboration Fool Hearted Man; that's when we bonded through our love for Jensen/JDM;)
    beelikej: (To See The World...)

*Happy sigh* Just spent hours stalking the Asylum14 tag on Twitter to vicariously enjoy Jeff, Jensen and Jared on stage at the SPN-convention in Birmingham. That was time well spent;) Plus I got a double dose of JDM, who is very much missing in this year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang :( Fortunately there is still plenty of J2 fic to choose from; I ended up with six summaries for my claimlist. I'm going to try to make a top three out of that tonight. We'll see what happens. During my break from fanarting the past few weeks I already caved into collaborations for two other projects, so my muse has plenty to play with either way;)

Now, get ready for a very important announcement. I already mentioned this at the end of my long post from last weekend, which was packed with linkies and stuff, so for those of you who missed it:

I'm coming to the USA this Summer to meet up with the awesome [livejournal.com profile] tmn1966 and we're going on a roadtrip! Here's the plan, copied from her LJ:
During the first two weeks of August, we'll be heading out on the open road, driving from Canton, Ohio to Dallas, Texas. Part of our route will include the historic Route 66. The states we'll be going through are:

    Ohio - Indiana - Illinois - Missouri - Oklahoma - Texas

If any f-listies are along or near our route, we'd love to make a stop to see you!! You can PM one of us if you'd rather not leave a comment.

*bounces* I can't wait to finally meet [livejournal.com profile] tmn1966 for real; I've been wanting to chat with her in person ever since we bonded during ReverseBang years ago <3 Fandom rocks \m/
