Oh hey, I just realized I hadn't updated y'all about my earinfection yet. You know, the one I mentioned at the end of May? IT'S STILL NOT OVER!
The headcold I had back then fortunately only lasted a week, but it was rough; besides the snot and the barking cough I had an eye-infection and I couldn't open my eyes for two days. (I listened to the soothing voice of Stephen Fry reading me Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).
Three days into the headcold I went to the doctor's because the earinfection wasn't supposed to last that long, I was told not to worry. She prescribed eardrops and gave the advice to get nosespray as well.
But even after all the other coldstuff was over, my ear still felt stuffed. So off to the doctor I went again. This time I saw my own GP (who had been off schedule on my first visit). She said it would probably take about three more days of eardrops and promised me there would be improvement. There wasn't. Not even after five days. So then I saw doctor number one again and she concluded I had the type of earinfection that would probably last several weeks if not months!! Oh. Thanks for that.
I got a prescription for antibiotics and "sour" eardrops for a week, I had to take a dose of both three times a day. Yesterday I had a check up on that. I'm still deaf, but she told me the ear does look better. I should continue with the eardrops and get back in ten days for a follow up. *sighs*

I'm glad I have the kind of quiet job that I can do while being half deaf, but it is a nuisance. Luckily I have planned my vacation at the end of August, I should be alright by then. RIGHT?

Anyway, the reason I was going to post tonight was to tell you our BB date has been postponed from June 26 to July 12th. Can you handle the suspense? ;-)
But if you are in immediate need to see art of mine and many others, check out the artmasterlist of the [livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang: HERE!

I also wanted to do the bookmeme I saw in [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams journal. Mmm, books. (Of course my answers are way too long, prepare for babble!)

BOOKMEME! )

And here's a question for you: what book should I add to my bookpile?

Also: I was nearly through my bookpile and I treated myself to a new book, so I updated my readinglist! DW and LJ (there are links to previous booklists too, that should give you an idea of the books I like;)

Day 2 of the Hero's Journey challenge: WARRIOR DOWN! )

This sucks. I'm gonna do some watercolours, I can do that rolling around on my office chair.
beelikej: (Thank you)
Aaaaaaaaahw, I've been wanting to do the voice-meme ever since it popped up all over my flist, but I've been struggling with time and new computer systems; I was still happily using XP but because of the security thing I had to switch to Windows 7 which isn't working properly and now I have to wait for brotherdearest to come by for computersurgery and in the mean time I'm on my Vista laptop which I usually only use for emergencies because Vista gets on my nerves and I'm not too quick with the touchpad and -aaargh- now that I finally have time and courage, my computer/microphone/soundrecordingsoftware is not cooperating so now I'm all cranky and sleepy. Also: work is a little bit crazy at the moment, plus I have a filmdate with mom tomorrow so I won't have an opportunity to try again until the weekend. I WILL DO IT though *determined face* ETA Sunday: Oh well, I guess that's not gonna happen. *acquiesces*

I did manage to listen to a couple of you, will definitely check everyone on my flist and respond (you all sound lovely!)

Off to bed. Goodnight everybody.

Eeeeeeeh, look what [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep wrote for fandomaid and meeeeeeeeeee: Save Room for Dessert, a delicious addition to the J2D threesome verse \o/ It's a treat for everyone who loves polyamorous Jared/Jensen/Danneel. GO READ! It made my weekend <3

I know it seems like I haven't been around for a while, with my journal seriously lacking updates for the past few weeks, but I do keep an eye on all of you, in a very quiet, stalkery way. :-p

I'm still struggling with a lot of uncontrolable changes in my life and body. In my head I've been writing hundreds of blogposts, but by the time I get home it just all seems such random and uninteresting whining that I don't want to share. Unfortunately these issues also keep me from focussing on selecting fun photos from Australia and other gorgeous places I visited, but I do hope to spam you with those soon.

I did finally update my readinglist yesterday, as the books I've been buying have been piling up while I've been submerged in RBB fanfic and rereading the marvelous fantasy series Nightrunners by Lynn Flewelling the last few months. The latter in preparation for book 7: Shards of Time, that will be released in April. I finished book 5 yesterday and can't wait to get started in book 6. I've promoted this series of books before and once again urge you to check out my reviews of the first two books to find out if it's something you might like.

BUT FIRST READ THAT MARVELOUS J2D fic by dugindeep;)
beelikej: (AngryHarry)
Due to circumstances beyond my control today's presentation of RBB artwork has been postponed for a couple of weeks. Y'all know how I feel about changing my schedule. With work being hectic and life in general already kicking my ass, you can probably imagine the mood I'm in. (Don't ask - but feel free to mail me if you can't hold back;)

But at least it's all ready and I'm looking forward to continuing work on my other RBB collaboration (which may or may not contain sexy times with JDM...) All will be revealed in February, wahey.

More good stuff: had a marvelous response on my papercutting art from last week and today I even received a lovely comment on that good old J3-pirates artpost (from 2011!). I love fandom.

I was going to write up a reclist of RBB-art and fic, but that will have to wait until I catch up with replies to artists and authors; I want to praise them in person first;)

Am doing that later though, because I'm going to bed early again; I'm still so fucking tired all the time:(

*sighs*

Dear artists in fandom-challenges: I do check out all creations, but if you post your art only on Tumblr, I can't comment on its awesomeness.

In addition to yesterday's woe is me post: Finances )
The story is not finished yet (can you tell I'm stalling to avoid getting actual work done today? There's a ten day's worth pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen)...

Dishes, here I come.

Still haven't sorted out my Australia-photos, but I figured I'd write a bit of an update on life, just to get some things off my chest.

Challenges
Fortunately I find some distraction in reading (I hope to pick up my bookreviews soon, I'll at least update my booklist soon) and in fandom. I'm still busy with the [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang; my second set of artwork will be posted next week. (If you missed it: I presented set #1 last week, check it out here) There will be a third set in a couple of weeks.
Despite my grumbling about planning, I signed up for three more challenges, two of which I can do on my own;) I'm planning to join [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang for which arting doesn't start until May and before that I'm doing [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema and [livejournal.com profile] spn_meanttobe.

I'm really looking forward to getting arts&craftsy this weekend, I just wish I wasn't so tired all the time.

J.

ETA: I'll respond to all the lovely comments on my papercutting art tomorrow, it's on top of my to-do list.
beelikej: (Skull)
I had this post planned for months as a final countdown to the concert in Antwerp on November 9 and then stupid Panic! at the Disco cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances" which we later found out meant a performance at Miss Universe in Moscow. So we worried about the boys for nothing, hrmpf. Despite my disappointment I'm still gonna play this song though. Because it's catchy and appropriate for the season and because it reminds me of good (fangirl) times. :-p

This does NOT mean you are forgiven, Panic. *glares*
beelikej: (Emma)
Ugh. My artwork is now in that 'fuck-it-this-is-never-gonna-work'-stage, so I'm giving up for today. Am not in a good mood to be creative anyway, let's blame that on the period, to at least get something out of that. *sighs*. Right. A weekly update... (Don't worry, it comes with a happy link to the adorable nephew, so it's not all blah;)

and I'm not gonna talk about work, so it's really not that bad )

What have you been up to?

Dammit

I've learned not to rant in public right away, but I'm so fucking upset (and actually close to tears) that I just have to share this to get it out of my system. I'm not out to insult other people or discourage participation, but I'm very disappointed and am feeling left out. I probably can't even explain it properly and I've already understood it's just me, but whatever.

Today there was finally a sign of life from the [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang. I'm thrilled the challenge is still a go, but already nervous about the possible issues that led to the delay. Obviously with the late set up, the schedule was moved as well. I just don't get why there has to be even more time added in between the reveal and a posting schedule and then another six weeks on top of that until actual posting?
To me it feels like all the extra days that were added are catering to authors, once again ignoring that this is essentially an artist's challenge. Far be it from me to dismiss the work of authors, but it's not a BigBang and stories only need to be 3,000 words.

I know there are a lot of other challenges in December, but this has always been the one podium where I could display my own idea, my input instead of being prompted or inspired by a story, summary or film. I also know that at the end most of the response still goes to the fic and not the art, but I've mostly accepted that.

Despite marvelous collaborations in the past, I am just not sure I can keep my and the author's interest going through such a stretched out schedule. The dates clash with my own agenda and it takes a very dedicated collaboration on both sides to make it work for me this time. I'm contemplating not signing up to avoid the hassle. This makes me immensely sad.

I'm still going to work on my artproject, it just might have to do without an additional story.

Meh. Was already a bit under the weather yesterday morning, but after I got back from the arthouse I had a full blown sore throat. In the evening my ears joined the fun and at night I was also a bit feverish on top of that. Didn't sleep very well; I kept waking up from/with a dry throat.
Did go to work today and enjoyed some distraction with a lot of small and big jobs. But my throat didn't improve :(. I suspect I got infected by one the many groups of kids that traveled on my bus last week (it's on the way to an amusement park). Ugh.
Bought an extra dose of Strepsils and will go to bed early tonight. It's going to be a busy week, with two massive projects I really want to keep control over. Now's not the time to get sick, dammit.

It was a very exciting Monday: when I checked my mail upon arrival at work around 9 am, the program didn't respond. After a little investigating it turned out my automatic response mail had been on a loop ever since I started my vacation 2 weeks ago! An 'unable to deliver' mail had been sent around again and again and all the regular mail had gotten stuck in between.
I was able to reach the inbox through an online server and started deleting these messages. Around 1 pm Outlook started downloading mail on my computer again; it had 30,944 messages waiting in line... *gulp*
screencaps of the exploding inbox )

I finished deleting the massive amount of messages a little after 3 pm. I had just enough time to deal with the few actual mails before I went home around 5 pm.

This week business hours are reduced to 'mornings only', due to many clients still being away on vacation. If this mail mayhem hadn't happened I could have gone home at noon. *pouts*

I'm already done with this week, hrmpf. I had planned a lot of online time tonight, but I'll get back to y'all tomorrow, okay?

I'm back from London, but even though I had a good time with Tan at the WB Harry Potter Studio Tour, I've also spent some time in A&R (= Accidents & Emergencies aka the ER) because I rather violently strained my already painful shoulder. I ended up with my right arm in a sling to immobilize the rotator cuff and this also means I can't use my hand. :( I've set up an appointment with a physical therapist and hope to find a way to deal with this limitation. In the hospital I was told healing may take up to six weeks, so I guess I'm forced to become quite skillful with my left hand (insert pervy jokes here). I still have to look at the keyboard as I type this with one hand, but maybe I'll be able to do it blind soon!

Long story short (too late, but at least I didn't go into detail about the whole ER adventure - there was an ambulance!)... I'm going to have to avoid fiddling on the computer, this includes writing comments.
I trust I will still be able to do all my challenges, but at least until the end of the week I'm going to try real hard to not be tempted to use my right hand and abstinence works best. (I mean from the internet, obviously;) - so don't worry about me not responding for a couple of days, mkay?

J.

P.S. This message will be copied/pasted in a couple of my social media, just so I only had to type it once.

P.P.S I may do a pics only post of the awesome stuff that Tan and me managed to do in LND before and after the incident (WE DID THE TIMEWARP AT TRHPS! WE GOT TO GO BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE BEHIND THE SCENES HARRY POTTER TOUR! (Yes I typed that correctly;) ALSO: OXFORD!)
beelikej: (Butters)
I've been so occupied with my artwork for the Cinema Challenge that I completely forgot to update my journal with events in real life! Lots of turmoil in the past few weeks. )

After all that I'll have time to continue my squee over the awesome summaries I managed to claim for this year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang. As per fandom etiquette I won't reveal my authors just yet, but I'm thrilled that both of them have already contacted me! I can't wait to read the full stories: I've uploaded them on my e-reader and will start brainstorming on the bus tomorrow! (Provided those students haven't sucked my brain, eeep)

There was more, but I'm gonna give my shoulder a break now. I'm going to step away from the internet to catch up on CSI with a double feature of the two latests episodes on my big screen up in the attic.

Remind me I still have to share some glorious goodies I found on Tumblr with y'all. When I get back from London, I'll finally do that nostalgia-meme two people tagged me in and I need to catch up on all the great art and fic in the [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema. Why is there not more time, I want to do ALL THE THINGS.

I've been trying to think of ways to climb out of the pit of despair; I've been slowly sinking these past few days (weeks) and I've had enough.

Today I decided to try and not be a couch potatoe after coming home from work. I figured the best way to start was to not turn on the tv and have dinner while watching dumb shows which usually results in me being too lazy to get up and consequently falling asleep on the couch. Instead I sat at my dinnertable like a proper lady and read a book. What? I can't just eat and stare at the food. Plus I thought this was a clever way to avoid tv and finally read my collection of coffeetable books that are too big to take with me on the bus. I started in Harry Potter Film Wizardry, which is AWESOME. That amazing book about the art direction in all eight Potter films is also a lovely reminder of good times I have coming to me in the future. In May I'm going to London with [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan and we're hoping to score tickets for the WB Harry Potter studios. Fingers crossed!

More events to look forward to: Eddie Izzard in Amsterdam in April with my brothers and sister in law plus the Quadrophenia concert of The Who in July with [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan who is also coming over for a long weekend starting this Friday. That should take my mind off woe at work:)

Until then I'll be quite busy with artwork for the [livejournal.com profile] j2noauchallenge; the idea is there and I already did some sketching, but due to being down I haven't been able to decide on a fitting technique. I'm glad the posting dates are spread out and I have time to get into the right headspace. The author I claimed wrote such a lovely story and totally deserves worthy art. <3

Someone asked how my finger was doing after that accident with the drill at work two weeks ago. It's healing quite nicely; the hole is now covered with pretty new skin and I don't need to wrap up my finger anymore. Which means I can scroll and type without hassle again, woohoo. For those of you who are interested, I posted a picture of my healed finger with the pretty pink skin, it includes a link to the original bloody photos in cased you missed the drama;)

I will now catch up on my fanfic reading (so many goodies posted tonight, including new [livejournal.com profile] salt_burn_porn fic) and then attempt to turn into bed early. That's also part of my 'getting it back together' plan. SLEEP!
beelikej: (MMMorgan's Bakery)
Obviously the big news of the day is the announcement of the abdication of our Queen Beatrix, but I had quite an eventful day myself, which I feel is just as important, if not more so;)

While cleaning out a paper drill at work I managed to drive the thing into my indexfinger, resulting in a bloody big hole with skin hanging off. After our First Aid person (aka the bossman) put on an emergency finger-bandaid, I noticed I also had cuts on my middle finger. Au! It wasn't long until blood started to seep through the bandaid, so I decided to clean the wound properly myself and put on a fresh wrapping and an extra finger cover. That felt a lot better and now my finger is only throbbing when I don't remember to keep my hand up. Typing is no fun though and because it's my scrolling / mouse finger not even simply surfing the net is comforting :-(
Who wants to see blood? (I later put a special giraffe-print bandaid from the WWF on my middlefinger. What? It totally started bleeding!) If that wasn't bad enough already, I also got a papercut on my other middle finger. Woe is me.

Despite the wonky typing I am going to share my new food finds as promised.

Now tell me what kind of bread you like best and what you put on it?

Was full of good intentions of catching up on the flist every evening plus tonight I was going to post pictures and basically write something funny, but my whole body is rebelling in anticipation of the period, so I did some horrid binging and fell asleep on the couch. Uch. One more workday and then weekend and -if my calculations and body are correct- that time of the month. Yay. You make me feel like a natural woman, body. Thanks.

Excuse me while I crawl back to my couch to watch the second part of 56Up.

Apparently I'm not an adult yet; I can't get the stupid child-resistant-safety cap off my new ecological toilet cleanser. Maybe I'm just not meant to do household chores.
