WIP artproject 2014: part 6

In between the festivities and doing research for my next two art challenges, I've been working on my JDM Wings project! If you don't want to see that until it's done, there are some other recent posts you can check out as well:
- Some of my favorite music this month
- My Jeffrey Dean Morgan interview archive
- My birthdaypartypost:)

For those of you who do want to see some arting, but missed the previous posts about this project, here are links to the work in progress so far: - wingsWIP 1 - wingsWIP 2 - wingsWIP 3 - wingsWIP 4 - wingsWIP 5

Ready to see more?
I'll continue where I left the last time: sketching Jeff... (Click for close ups:)

After I make a somewhat detailed sketch, I trace that to make a version for cutting with clearer lines.

When cutting I leave out even more details. I also have to choose carefully which lines to not cut;)

Full body silhouette and close up of cut face.

I fold some details, like the hair and shirt; other bits are getting a bit of depth by using the bonefolder to press them out (the nose) or in (chest)

Making a template for the pattern on the wings. Less butterfly-ie than the set up and -thanks to some input from [livejournal.com profile] sillie82- I figured out which way to curve the feathers:)

Cutting and folding details.

First wing is done!

To be continued soon! (*only one more session to go!)--> seventh (and final!) wip post is up:)

Love to hear what you think of it; all questions and comments are welcome:)

Oooh, it's looking so neat! (love the goldy glitter in the paper you're using) The wings are incredible, can't wait to see the end result!

Thank you:) The sparkles are actually white/silver, my bad lighting is giving it a yellow glow. It's like the paper I used for the Xmas cards, except a bit heavier.
I just decided to colour Jeff, although I'm a bit anxious to see what will happen to the paper. Dundundunnn.
