Update on life
Yesterday I finished my course and even though there wasn't a test, I received two very official looking certificates: one for the technical part and one for the creative part. Yay! I bet the bossman will be impressed.
Last night my mom called to tell me Gran had had a stroke. Despite earlier reports from the hospital that said it had only been a TIA, this morning it was clear it had been a big one. Fortunately this has not affected Gran's speech, but she most likely won't be walking again. And things had been going so well lately. She had hoped to go home after the observation-period in the hospital, but now we're certain she will have to move to a nursing home. I'm really glad she is still able to express herself, but it's sad to see her losing more of her independence each day.
I've updated my readinglist. And although it says I'm reading Hofstadter, I still need to get started on that. (Sorry, brotherdearest - I'll pick up the book as soon as I'm done posting, promise). I did get to finish two and a half book on the train back and forth to the course the past two days. Reviews will be written later.
Today was my first day off and I spent most of it hanging around the housereading pr0n not doing anything useful. Oh well, I have more free days: I don't have to go back to work until Monday, so plenty of time to read the BIG book ;-) I only wish I could have done it on the Eurostar to London. Maybe I should start doing research for my summervacation now, or it will again be impossible to find a bed and arrange transportation. Hmmm. No. Read. That's what I'm gonna do. Read. Offline. I will step away from the computer any minute now. Honest. Watch me go.

And shit, that sucks *hugs you*. Still, I'm (relatively) glad to hear that at least her mental state wasn't affected by the TIA. That's probably even more horrible.
Wow, you are reading like a train, lady. I should update my own reading list, but it's nowhere near as impressive as yours ;). Ooo, and I see you have Aidan Chambers on your list. I remember reading that book when I was a wee teenager (um so, probably 10 years ago :P) and having it break me a little. I should reread!
You're being ever so diligent on your days off. I would feel inspired to join your shining example, but I'm a total slacker so will instead spend my Day of Lazy Wonderfulness reading kinky porn involving waify boys. And possibly making an omelette. Big plans, bb!

My gran just wouldn't be the same without the babbling:)
Well, to be honest, the books weren't that long. And now I'm kind of stuck in Hofstadter, so if you feel the need to catch up, this is your chance;)
You know what I love about you? That no matter what subject I talk about, you always have knowledge. ALWAYS. So what if you're a slacker now, your brain deserves a break with all the stuff you remember! Plus you can make an omelette. You are mega-woman!
