Iconmania!

Once again I managed to break a meme. It's a miracle I'm not struck by lightning yet for always getting those chain-things broken :-p I'm finally catching up with all the promises I made back in January when I was on a jetlag-high. Here is my response to the icon-meme that was doing its rounds...
1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

(Except of course when you are me and you leave the meme unanswered in your mailbox for months.)

[livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7 picked these:
01. 02. 03. 04. 05.

[livejournal.com profile] firesign10 chose these for me to talk about:
06. 07. 08. 09. 10.

I'll participate in any meme where I can babble about things and people I love. Don't worrry, only the first three are film-related. Although it seems also beyond that subject I'm able to chat endlessly, oops ;)

01. Walken - ...I'm supposed to say "what?"... like I don't get it, right?
The enigmatic Christopher Walken has been one of my favorite actors ever since I saw him break down in The Deer Hunter (1978). Somewhere in the late eighties I rented the video with my brother and I watched it three times in a row. FYI the film is over three hours long. Stunning.
The quote that goes with the userpic is from Wayne's World 2 (1993), which is a completely different film.
I recommend both to see the massive range between serious and funny Walken!
On a shallow note: I adore his hair. Always.

02. DN38416 Reese Sgt Tech-Com - Come with me if you want to live.
Actor Michael Biehn as Lt. Kyle Reese in one of the best films of all time: The Terminator (1984). Forget the special effects of the sequels, this is the heart and core of the story. Spoiler: it is NOT about The Terminator. In the lead an actual 3-dimensional woman. I should really make an icon of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor too, she is such a feminist rolemodel, just like Lt. Reese. Respect is the keyword here. They are both heroes.

03. JDM grabby - How to put long arm to good use
Heehee. Only recently someone else asked for clarification of this pic. It's a shot from the promotional tour of P.S. I Love You (2007) This is Jeffrey Dean Morgan grabbing Gerard Butler's butt (and bypassing Hilary Swank). There is reprocication as well, you can find another image in my iconlist;). The film is a bit of a sentimental story, but a must-see for all lovers of JDM. If anything, just select the twenty minutes of scenes he's in; that's what I force my friends to watch when they come over;). Bring chocolate.

04. GayBoys - Me neither
If I remember correctly I got this image from the Comically Vintage tumblr. It made me giggle. Yeah, me neither *shifty eyes*

05. JDM hands - Jeffrey.Dean.Morgan.
Well, this kind of speaks for itself, doesn't it? If you ever heard me squee about my fetish for hands. And JDM. And skulls. And jewelry on men. *sighs* His full name serves well as a curse. Damn you, Jeff.

06. Doodle Skull - A doodle. I do doodle. You too. You do doodle, too
One of a series of doodles. I've been sketching skulls ever since highschool. Don't ask me why. I like bodyparts; they are all over my house as decorative statements. Piece the resistance is a full size skeleton out of paper I made when I was trying medschool. It's left over from my wish of becoming a pathologist. (I figured out early on that I didn't want to deal with all the living people I would have to study before finally settling on corpses only;)

07. Knufffel - MINE
Dutch word 'knuffel' means 'hug', but is also a word used for a stuffed animal. This yellow bear(?) is always going with me on my travels around the world, even on sleep-overs nearby;). One time I went to London and forgot to bring it (which was an excuse to buy a bear at Hamley's, heh). That was the reason I made an icon; to make sure I'll always have my Knuffel available, even when I'm far away from home.

08. CollarMe - Sssht
This is the lovely neck of Alyson Hannigan, whom I know best as Willow Rosenberg from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The image was not only a Photoshop experiment in colouring, but also kind of outs a side of me I usually keep hidden.

09. SuperTwink J1 - Fiddle fiddle
Ahw, an adorable photo from the twink days of Jensen Ackles, such a precious pouty boy. The fiddle-comment refers to a song from rockopera Tommy by The Who; it's a quote from wicked Uncle Ernie, who loves to touch young boys. Sorry. It's just because this image always makes me feel a little pervy.

10. JDM hands - Jeffrey.Dean.Morgan.
Speaking of pervy images, there he is again. Those hands make me imagine all kinds of things. Pervy things. Good, good, pervy things.

Well, if that wasn't a disturbing peek into my mind. Bet you're happy you asked.

I loved it!! :-D

Pfew:) I completely forgot to mention that the quote from the skull-doodle icon is from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, spoken by -ha!- Willow, which connects it nicely to #08! (It's her explanation for drawing a sigil that Buffy is not supposed to know about. Sigils and demons, now where does that remind me of?;)

Oh, you. That wasn't disturbing at all. And I love peeks into people's minds -- especially crazily creative ones like you. ♥

... you watched The Deer Hunter three times in a row? I LOVE that movie, but would never be able to take that kind of intensity three times in a row. The Russian roulette scenes alone are enough to have me crawling behind the couch. I am IMPRESSED with your cinematic fortitude. :D

I downloaded P.S., I Love You, but haven't had the chance to view it yet. I'll have to do that soon. :)

*grins* That's a relief.

Heh. I mostly did that because we had to return the video the next day and I just didn't want to forget anything. (Back in those days I didn't think we'd ever rent it again, that just wasn't done;) I remember hugging a pillow throughout the film. The Russian roulette scenes are very disturbing.

I don't know if you get easily emotional about a film like P.S. I Love You, I honestly didn't; I love Hilary Swank, but it was mostly a giggle fest about flirty Gerard and sweet anticipation for Jeff to appear (with his accent...) I usually don't allow talking during films, but this is the kind of movie that begged for chatting. To complete our movie night, my mom and I had a big box of fancy chocolates (REALLY fancy, with funky flavors like red pepper and lavender) which we needed to compare in between keeping an eye on the story. I could tell you the exact scenes JDM is in, but then you'd miss Gerard and something tells me you like him too;)
GO, WATCH! (and let me know what you think of it!)

[identity profile] cassiopeia7.livejournal.com 2014-03-06 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
My fave Walken role may just be his Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow. Scary as HELL, but he loved his horse. (Yup, I'm weird.)

I usually don't allow talking during films

YES! A film-watcher after my own heart!

I could tell you the exact scenes JDM is in, but then you'd miss Gerard and something tells me you like him too;)

Away with you and your crystal ball, you psychic witch! AWAY! ;) Why yes, I am rather an admirer of Gerard Butler. I recently watched Olympus has Fallen with my brother, and spent a chunk of the movie silently mourning his missing accent. (Butler can do a fine American accent, as he does in this movie, but dang, his natural Scottish one makes me melt.)

Mmmm, red pepper and lavender chocolates. *salivates*

Very curious to hear what you think of both Gerard's and Jeff's accent in P.S. I Love You;)

<3 Buffy is another woman who needs to be added to my icon collection. Fail, self, epic fail.

Every time brotherdearest comes over for a visit, we continue our everlasting Buffy & Angel marathon, it's still brilliant after all these years. We're currently in Season 5 and 2. \o/

Ooh three of my absolute favourites here.

Michael Biehn as Kyle Reece. I still don't understand why Terminator didn't make Biehn a star rather than Arnie (though I'm not knocking Arnie). He did such wonderful things with this role.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan; the hands, the tats, the jewellery... He oozes sensual sexuality and P. S. I Love You is a great girls night movie with chocolate cake and fizzy plonk.

JDM and Gerard Butler... I've just finished writing a story featuring the two of them as stepbrothers; former playboy princes in fact, with Butler as the bad, bad, bad boy and JDM the loving, dutiful brother who covers up for him.

*high fives* I'm forever sulking Kyle didn't get a better mention in the second film. Arnold was the perfect Terminator until they neutered him in the sequel (stupid honorable John Conor;)

Heehee, that's exactly how my mom and I watched P.S. I Love You. I didn't care for the sentimental bits, but fortunately there are lots of giggle moments. I don't think Jeff ever looked sexier, with the wristband and the ring and the stupid key-chain that got me all weak in the knees. (not to mention THAT scene...) Talk about oozing, gah. *deep breath*

It would have been so awesome to have the two of them on screen together, I sense they have great chemistry. Would I be able to read this story anywhere, pretty please?

[identity profile] trishabooms.livejournal.com 2014-03-06 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Michael Biehn has played some good parts. I thought he was wonderful in 'Aliens', though his best performance IMHO was as Coffey, the Navy Seal in 'The Abyss'.

There were some great giggle moments in 'P.S. I Love You', I howled at the karaoke scene. Jeffrey Dean though... So gorgeous and sexy. Have you seen 'The Accidental Husband'? Not the best film but he gets such a lot of screen time and he looks incredibly good.

The story is with my beta at the moment but if you want a preview read you're welcome, though I warn you it is huge!

I'll always have a soft spot for Micheal Biehn.

Oh yes, I've seen The Accidental Husband, such a lovely film; Jeff really turned up the charm for that one and Uma is great in it. I love that competing husband-to-be Colin is also lovable and not an evil or pathetic charicature. I've watched that film numerous times for all three of the leads *chinhands*

Yay for longfic! With my current reading-list I better wait until it's all done. I'll keep an eye on your journal. Good luck with the final edits!
