Oh, hello
Wow, I noticed it's been exactly a month since I last posted, oops. (I have been busy on Twitter though, so if you're looking for me that's where you can find me every day;)
Here's a quick update on life before I spam y'all with artposts next week (I hope;).
I'm still doing 30 Days Work-Out Challenges, for June our LJ/Twitter group is doing the Summertime Sweat Work-Out (which we renamed #somertimesweat in honour of our fearless leader
somersault_j *grins*) Today was Day 20/30. For July I'm hoping to find a crushing ABS thing with floor exercises, as I'd like a change from the standing and jumping;)
Work is still fun, I have an evaluation talk tomorrow, dundundunnnn. I had to fill in a form grading myself and we'll compare it with the manager's input... Hopefully I'll also get more clarity on the duration of the project. I already have a guaranteed job until December 31st (if I don't screw things up, obviously) but there has been talk of an extension for five years for the whole department. Fingers crossed!
Mom and I visited Gran on Friday (my dad's mother, the only grandparent I have left) - she is now aware of her dementia, although she thinks that applies to being forgetful, not her experience of getting visits from my dead grandfather (who according to her is sneaking out of heaven to see her, which God would not be happy about if he knew...) or imagining her sons living as young boys in her attic (which she doesn't have, as she assured me she knows: "I don't have an upstairs, but they are there."). I find this all pretty hard to respond to, bless my mom for knowing how to talk to her. My gran does appreciate our visits though.
Afterwards mom and I went to Ikea to decompress. We strolled for three hours (!!) and had a lovely meal of Swedish meatballs:). I was looking for a sidetable, but didn't find one I like. I did buy a very cool plate, two mugs and coasters:

:-)
Last but not least: in three weeks I'm gonna meet up with
amberdreams in Amsterdam! We'll also have lunch with
big_heart_june (who I also haven't met before!) and
sillie82 (who reminded me in July it will be TEN years since we got together for our first CSI-marathon) - exciting!
Until then I havetwo three artprojects to finish: a second set for
spn_meanttobe this weekend, a pinchhit for
spn_j2_bigbang next week and then I want to do the Matchmaker Challenge for the
quicky_bang. (Sign ups are from July 1st - 31st, here's a post with more information!!)
Speaking of quickies, I made a Sam&Castiel piece that could do with a bit of love: The Ice Age (it goes with an intense short story that I heartily recommend:)

Anyway!!
I really hope the department will get the extension, so crossing my fingers for that. Also, good luck on the evaluation talk tomorrow!
Sorry to hear about your grandma. Glad she's happy with the visits though. Love your Ikea loot. :D
I'm super excited about meeting up in Amsterdam. It's gonna be fun! :D
Also, really looking forward to your artposts. Also hope you won't be a stranger to LJ after those artposts. ;)

The Ministery of Defence has granted the extension and my project manager said they intend to keep the current team working for five years, so I guess I know what I'll be doing for the next few years;)
The new Ikea designs are so funky! I love my eyeball fish!!
Two weeks until the fangirl meet up, woohoo!
I should be able to be more active on LJ after my MBT and BB projects are done. Are you going to join the Matchmaker Challenge on
no subject
Oooh, that's awesome! :D Congrats!
MBT? Or did you mean Meant To Be? I kinda gave up on that. The prompt was okay but I just never really felt it? I looked up some ref pictures, but then never did anything with it, and there's no way I'll get it done before the deadline now.
I'm gonna be pretty busy with BB (especially because I'm working 4 days more times then not these days, and on working days no art is happening what so ever). Also, I don't think this is really my challenge. As you know, I'm very, very, very picky when it comes to the stories I like making art for. I don't really feel the need to challenge myself, and I also know that if I have a story I don't really like, I won't be able to make anything for it. Also also, the turn around is a little to fast for me. I usually need more time.
Wow, I'm getting a bit wordy. Sorry. :')

It seems like a lot of people dropped out of Meant to Be, my author wouldn't have made it either if there hadn't been an extension.
Yeah, I understand the MatchMaker thing isn't for everybody, I am gonna play myself though - I will actual fact draw the stories from a hat, so I won't be able to cheat;)
Good luck with your BB, I'm posting mine tonight (waiting for a link to the fic atm...)
ETA: don't apologize for long comments, that's exactly what I like about LiveJournal!

Ah, dementia. My grandma had it too. It was hard. It got hard. And as hard as it it, just talk. And even if she tells you the same things again and again, just listen :) Still, fuck that illness so much :( *hugs*
Yeah, more art from you. AND YEAH, MEET-UP :D

Fortunately my grandma has a good support network; all of her family lives nearby; we're the only ones that moved away from that town, also the only heathens in the family. I already found it hard to deal with her religious views when she wasn't confused, so yeah, I'm being superselfish in not joining that conversation. Any other subject is fine though and she still has plenty of other and real adventures to talk about (like going to the library or her weekly treats of fries;) - she really is enjoying life.
I'm so excited about that meet up. When are YOU coming over, huh?

So excited for you with fangirl meetups planned! Always so much fun.
And I'm in awe of you. You have been really committed to your 30 day challenges. Go you!! You're an inspiration.
And yes, I am aware of how much you like eyeballs. You were so excited to find that second one in Dallas! :P
