beelikejFor the sake of research I spent Saturdaynight rewatching Torchwood. I simultaneously played the original first episode of Season 2 and the censored kiddie-edition to find out which bits had been cut. It was thoroughly amusing confusing. I had to stop and rewind or fast forward to catch up. But I think I managed to find all the stuff that was cut to protect the Chyldren. You'll be happy to know all of the snogging was shown and nearly every innuendo was allowed. It was mostly violence, drugrelated dialogue and bloody scenes that were apparently considered a bad influence. But there were a lot of those. Colour me shocked.

Tosh reads out alien's bloodtest: "Massive levels of adrenaline [mixed with approximately 3 grams of cocaine] This fish is wired!"
Gunshot hits alien between the eyes. [View of bullit-exit from the back of the head]
Capt. John holds guy over the edge of a roof. Dude says "Oh God. [Shit]"
Capt. John drops guy ["Splat" + bird's eye view of dude dead on the ground]
Team Torchwood checks Dude on the pavement
[bird's eye view of his bloody body is shorter (from 7s to about 2s)]

After snogging and fighting Jack and John pull their guns on each other,
[John says: "Shit, have you put on weight' and Jack replies with something about John losing his hair.]
Weird thing is: even after repeated viewing I don't hear 'shit' being uttered, but both lines are definitely not in the kiddie version, where the first thing John says is "What are you wearing"
Jack & John have a drink. Jack asks about rehab
[John says:"Rehabs. Plural."
Jack:"Drink, Drugs, Sex and...?"
John: "Murder." Jack laughs, "You went to murder rehab?"
John: "I know, ridiculous, the odd kill, who does it hurt."]
Jack "Are you clean now?"
Owen & Tosh in warehouse
Tosh: "We should be out having fun. Bet you'd normally be out on the pull this time of night."
Owen: ["Oh, nah, bollocks to that, Tosh] talk about diminishing returns."
"Whoops" John pushes Jack off the roof.
Jack falls. "Splat." John looks down.
[bird's eye view of Jack's broken body down below is cut]
Owen & Tosh in warehouse.
Owen is shot, they are trying to stop the bleeding.
[Scene with close up of Owen's gunshotwound and dialogue is cut:
Tosh: "Why didn't he just kill us?"
Owen: "... maybe he just underestimated us."]
John walks out of building and sees Jack's body bend over backwards on a bench. (In the kiddie version this is where the scene ends. -The rehab-line that follows is heard as a voice over*) [John kneels down next to dead!Jack and tells him: "Rehab... didn't really work" John takes Jack's wristband and says: "Frontdoor key. Thanks". He touches Jack's face.]
*AHEM!!! the kiddies know nothing of murder-rehab - that dialogue was cut!!
PLUS: Jack of course gets back to life and later demands his wristband back. The kiddies must be confused.!!!
John is caught and tries to get out by making a deal with the team, while they all point their guns at him. "I'm thinking even split: 50-50. Good deal. [Or if anyone fancies an orgy..." (He apparently looks at Ianto when he says that, who seems to consider it, but then grips his gun a little tighter....)] - check it out: 0:38:00 - I'm not making this stuff up]
John uses his handcuffs to attach himself to Gwen. He swallows the key. Since he's about to explode, the team needs to find a solution pronto! John: "So, what are we gonna do now, team? [The orgy is still an offer, by the way. Especially now I got the handcuffs out."]
John was injected with TorchwoodTeamDNA.
"You mean there is a bit of all of you inside of me? [Sweet goddesses], that's all I need."
In conclusion: for the kiddies there is only one god, they have to figure out for themselves what happens when you drop or push someone off a roof and they have to be kept away from drugs and orgies.
Wow. I'm so glad I'm a grown up *g*
I understand BBC America will also make cuts: to fit the episode in between commercials and to abide by the FCC rules. I'm very curious to find out what is left out. I don't mind watching this episode again. The adult uncut version that is *g*
