On Friday I got a call from brotherdearest asking if he could come over for dinner on Saturday. Since he would also help me out with a couple of computer issues, he was more than welcome. *grins* I decided it was a good opportunity to try and make a new dish. From a package of course, I'm not THAT adventurous, but still: new thing! I made mashed potato cupcakes \o/ Have some photos of the process!

Last week I posted an arting meme and y'all picked some very challenging questions, that I'm going to answer here. (I'm putting the long answers behind cuts for your convenience:)

If you want to check out my art after all that babbling, here's my masterlist of artsy creations:)

Oh, I also put up a poll to help me decide what book to read next,. Since I didn't get around to reading the Losers comic this weekend, I'm bringing that with me to work tomorrow, so there is still time for you to vote in that:)

Banana

On the bus this morning I see this guy in front of me take out a tinfoil wrapped bananashape. He opens the package, he rolls off three layers of foil and there is indeed a banana inside. Still in its skin. He crumples the foil, keeps it in his hand and starts peeling the banana. He takes the whole skin off, lays that and the tinfoil in his lap and starts eating the banana with his bare hand. O_o

There are so many things wrong with this scenario, soooo many. I can't even explain. I. Don't. Understand. People. I really don't.

Huh, here I was worried it was too silly, so I'm immensely proud and pleased with the response to my artwork for spn_cinema:) *blushes*.

Been working on my entry for spn_meanttobe for a while, but have no idea how to finish it, so I'm gonna put it aside until tomorrow. Will have to make some sort of schedule to 1. reply to comments; 2. post meanttobe art; 3. start sketching for BigBang. There is a big family birthday next weekend and then it's a long weekend London and then and then and then... What is time? Also: work. *rolls eyes*

Confessiontime: I'm mighty wobbly from all the pictures that have been showing up from Mr. Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Cannes. *sighs* (to promote The Salvation) Dayum. He's wearing some very sophisticated suits (one with a VEST even)
(I may or may not have been imagining being able to write fanfic and done some research on how close Cannes is to Rome, where Jensen and Jared will be next weekend. What? I'm suffering from a very bloody period and I'm horny, shut up.)

Help, I can't stop adjusting my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang artpost for tomorrow. I babble-type when I'm nervous and on top of having the usual worries I may be slightly freaking out about HOW this particular arts & crafts project may be received. But I'm mostly excited that we finally get to share "our" guys with y'all;) I'm going to bed early so it will be time to reveal sooner (shut up, that's totally how time works)

So I'm rewatching the first season of Miami Ink (never mind what channel that's on, sssht) and I'm shipping Ami and Chris all over again. (When I first watched it years ago, I thought they were actually in a romantic relationship, but I've been told that was just my imagination;) Not that I need to read fanfiction (I bet it's out there;) but it just makes me so giddy to think of the two of them together. Also: Ami was wearing his glasses tonight, unf.

Update on real life: against advice I went back to work on Wednesday. Admittedly it was a bit too soon for my shoulder, but working on my monthly magazine project did wonders for my mental health. I did need a painkiller midday, but felt pretty pleased with myself in the evening. Today was a quieter day, so I could 'take it easy' as instructed *g*.

I still keep my arm in a sling as much as possible and do exercises at night. I'm not able to lay down to sleep yet; I do that sitting up straight (with the sling on and my pajama-jacket like a straight-jacket to keep my arm close to my body) because my shoulder can't handle being horizontal. I'm confident that will eventually get easier as well though, as it clearly is getting better all the time. I have another appointment with my physical therapist next Tuesday.

I plan to really get started on BB artwork this weekend, I will at least be able to hand in sketches on time, for sure:)

If y'all lived near me, I would send you to my masseuse, because she is AWESOME \o/ Today I chose my regular massage, which is called "Time for yourself" and it was once again marvelous. Thanks to all the hassle at work it had been over six months since I last had a chance to visit her. Definitely too long. I made another appointment for next week, when she will introduce me to a full body Therapeutic Tuina massage, which apparently involves not just stroking and rubbing muscles, but also tapping, pulling and shaking my extremities. Sounds exciting, right? It's supposed to give you an energy boost. Today's massage was all about relaxing though. Which reminds me... note to self: "don't plan anything afterwards, don't think you can get groceries on the way home, just because the bio-supermarket happens to be on your cycling route. Go straight home to crash in bed or on the couch."
Heh. I never learn. But when I finally got home, I did set my timer and dozed off for an hour, that was almost as nice as the massage. I look and feel totally relaxed now.

So far I'm loving my summervacation:)

Next on the "I should really do this when I have time"-list: watch Scott Pilgrim vs The World. And thanks to gifsets on Tumblr of boys kissing, I also put Dare on my program.
So I'm off for tonight for an evening of chilling up in my attic. Will catch up with all of your journals tomorrow!

Oh, before I go: I just read this in Lynn Flewelling's LiveJournal ([livejournal.com profile] otterdance)
"[I] have to finish the upcoming Nightrunner book by January (gad!). After that I hope to pick away at some short stories for Glimpses II..."
If you've read the Nightrunners series you know how exciting this news is! If not, watch out for my review of the first two books. I'll be posting it later this week!

Speaking of bookreviews (I'm going, I'm going, just a second) - I posted one for Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell: I gave it 10/10, yes you read that right. Click link to find out why:)

Today is the first day of my three week summervacation. Due to everything that happened at work in the past few months, I had to first postpone and eventually cancel my original travelplans. No far away destination for me this year, but luckily I was able to make arrangements for a trip to good old London, AFTER the Olympics. In two weeks I will enjoy three nights in my favorite hotel where I can soak in a bathtub every night. I also will go on a daytour to Stonehenge, so at least I get to visit a place where I haven't been before. \o/

Obviously I'm counting down the days until then, but since I spend most of my days indoors, reading and surfing the internetz, I need something to be aware of time passing. So I plan to post every day to keep up with the world:)
This morning I forgot to put the garbage container outside, because I hadn't realized it was Monday. Remind me to try again in two weeks so at least it will be emptied before I leave?

Most of today I worked on writing and coding my artpost for this Friday. Every time I'm surprised how much time goes into that. Good thing I started early. At least the artwork for my pinch hit story is all done already;)

This vacation I'm planning to do a chore every day. Not just housework, but something from my "I should really do this when I have time"-list. Today I started on cleaning up my hard-drive and I sorted out my medicine & toiletries box. I found several 'past-their-sell-by-date' items, oops. I also discovered I have enough tiny tubes of toothpaste for all my future travels in the next five years. Ha!

Next on the list is unfucking the small desk in my living room, so I can use it for my bookpile that's currently on the diningroomtable. Also: writing bookreviews...

More exciting vacation-news tomorrow when I have an appointment for a mmmmmmmassage!

Ah, that made me feel a little better. Just had to let that out:)

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema started and I realized I still haven't finished my artwork for that challenge. My posting date is Sunday November 13. *gulp*
Before that I'm busy with the final touches on my designs for [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang, which will go online on Friday November 11 together with the marvelous story that [livejournal.com profile] tmn1966 wrote based on my prompt. I can't wait to share that with all of you! *bounces*.

November 11 is St.Maarten's Day in the Netherlands: children will light lantarns and go from door to door singing for candy. Hmmm, sounds familiar? Yeah, kind of like Halloween, but without the dressing up :-p
Speaking of Halloween: I received my order from bpal this week: two deliciously sweet scents in adorably labeled bottles )

Yeah, I may have overdosed on sweetness the last few days. Oops.
beelikej: (Amy's Heart)
I made lemoncurd. Well, that's what it's supposed to be. I mixed all the required ingredients and the substance is cooling now. I plan to have scones for lunch. (I bought those ready made;).

I have a trip to the biological supermarket planned. Better also put jam on my list, just in case. Did I ever tell you that biological supermarket is close to the adult toy store? My reasons for doing some green shopping in the weekend may not be completely altruistic. *grins*

I was going to do laundry, but this appears to become a rainy day and I so love it when I can dry it on the balcony. Maybe I'll wait until tomorrow. I'm sure the semi-heatwave will be back then.

I'm supposed to be working on BigBang, but there is a new chapter of A Kept Boy posted. Ngh. Must.Resist.Reading.
I will save it as a reward for afterwards. I can only hope my artwork will be worthy, but that kind of incentive deserves at least my best effort;)
