Well, December was another wild month; I didn't get to go on the planned businesstrip (that is postponed to the end of January), but I had plenty of stuff to do.
We had elections in the Netherlands; my green party joined a collaboration with the socialist party in the hope of building a big left wing powerblock. Unfortunately more people voted for the angry right and those conservative parties are currently working on a coalition for government. *big sigh*
Happier happenings: my family celebrated Sinterklaas (Photos of the surprise packages I build and received in my Instagram) and my birthday was fun as well (Check out my awesome over the top cake!).
If you're on other socials, I now also have an account on BlueSky, let me know if you want me add/follow you there:) I'll share a complete list of my platforms next year. I will at least continue to share stuff on Dreamwidth and Livejournal. This final post of 2023 is a round-up of my Land of Art graphics.
Challenge 11 - Fake it, Till You Make It
Create Fanmixes with fake songs and fake titles (front&back cover [500x500] + 5-10 songs).
I used photoshoots from Sandra Bullock, Emma Stone and Meryl Streep:)

Challenge 12 - Cracked
Graphics featuring non-canon ships
Since I was in the middle of transferring the CSI Nick/Greg archive to AO3, I chose to make a Sigtag and Tumblr Graphics of those guys:)

Challenge 13 - A Panoramic Twist
Create Panoramas (500x100, cut into 5 icons [100x100]) without thinking about cutting it into icons. Then you cut it. You can only use a MAX of three characters in your panorama. The idea of a panorama is to create the art, and then see what kinds of icons you get.
I don't think everyone stuck to the rules for this one which disappointed me a little as for me the limitations where really inspirational. This was the first time I turned off the 100x100 pixel icon guides in my panorama set up, because I always thought the purpose was to make a good panorama AND cut that into 5 good icons! Using only 3 characters made me focus on negative space in the panorama instead of the position of the character within those 100x100 pixel guides. Now the icons really surprised me \o/ [Fandoms: Scream, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek: Voyager]

I handed in Golden Tickets for Challenge 14 - Hide & Seek Characters (Prep) because I was lacking time to come up with approved character types and create banners.
Challenge 15 - A Silver Lining
You are limited to using the following colors: Blue, White, Silver. This is coloring of the art, font color, everything. You do not have to use all three in each piece, but you can only use those three.
I made headers [Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Graphic]

For Challenge 16 - Where is the End Point? everyone had to find mazes to share and solve. That was more fun than I initially thought, I did 27 of them! Here, have one, with bonus colouring option:)

Challenge 17 - Associate This!
Part of a game where you respond to each other with themes/techniques, using the last letter of the word the previous player picked. The Theme/Technique you choose is what your art will be of.
I responded to 'Dark' with Kaleidoscope and to 'Nature' with Empty Space. Here are the Wallpapers I created [Skam & Supernatural]

Challenge 18 - Characters Wear What?
Similar to Ch 14: Create banners to be used in a future Hide & Seek challenge. This time use colours/type of clothes characters wear.
I picked Repeating Geometric Patterns & Nerd Shirts:)

That's all for this year, hope to see you here in 2024!

Date: 2024-01-02 09:36 pm (UTC)It's been a very long process; I first contacted Open Doors in the Summer of 2021 and signed the MOU in October 2021! I think it took longer than planned because in the beginning they were dealing with a long wait list and more than once the volunteer that was my main contact left or was assigned another task.
However, whenever I got in touch they were very nice and very good in explaining every step in the process. My final volunteer has been the best.
The WMTDB archive was also based on eFiction software and was started in 2004; it contained over 2000 fanfics. It originally also had an art and video section. To keep it managable (and affordable) I had already transfered the video section to YouTube earlier. I've also kept a community Tumblr as a back up for images. The original Livejournal community is still up, together with a clone version on Dreamwidth.
If you're interested, you can read all the anouncements on the transfer there: https://nickngreg.dreamwidth.org/ (check the WMTDB tag)
I'm very happy (and relieved) to finally see all those Nick/Greg fanworks up in their own AO3 collection and there have been lovely responses from the old fandom :-)
Good luck with the transfer!

Date: 2024-01-03 11:21 am (UTC)My volunteer is an MB fan who has actually added stories to the AO3 MB collection I set up a few years back and plans to use that collection for the move. I'm quite excited and yet anxious about it all. I tried going alone a few years back but a lot of the authors are no longer around or simply not responding - even the ones with accounts on AO3 - changed email addresses, moved away from fandom... some have died :(
I have
It's good to know your archive went across smoothly even if it did take a while :) That makes me feel a lot less stressed about it all. It will be a huge weight off my shoulders too as the eFiction software is no longer secure and I had to bolt it all the way down due to spam/security issues to basically read-only... and then I got emails saying even that was breached :( Turned out they were talking about another old Mag7 archive and got confused BUT it lit a flame under me to approach AO3 for help in saving all these stories.
BY THE WAY... I was so excited to learn you were/had moved an archive I forgot to add how much I loved all your graphics!!
