It's Friday-evening, which means it's weekend, woohoo!
That's it, that's my good thing for today. :-p

So no list of three at the moment, but I do have something uplifting to share. I'm not sure if it's a worldwide custom to put up a sign in the yard when a baby is born, but that's what people do here. Sometimes they add a fake stork and other decorations, but the main feature will be a big sign with the baby's name painted on it. On my way home my bus drives through a couple of small towns and one of the houses we pass by has the whole shebang in the front-garden, including a name that makes me smirk every time I see it. I tried to take a picture today, but unfortunately the busdriver didn't believe in the speedlimit and raced by, despite the seven speedbumps on that particular road, dumbass. So you will just have to believe me on my word when I tell you what is on the sign in huge dripping pink letters:
It rhymes with 'what the hell'... )

I've decided to not participate in Gishwhes II, despite Misha's many mails filled with adorkable pleas. I had a blast last year, but this time I'm simply not feeling sociable enough to go play with others. Thanks to real life sucking my spirit I also lack energy and time for a five day scavenge hunt. Fortunately for me Gishwhes already served its purpose* as it inspired me to be more creative with hands on art, to try new techniques and to challenge myself. I don't only mean relating to fandom, because I also blame Misha & Co for my new jigsawpuzzle-addiction;) I know some of my friends are joining for the first time this year and I do wish them as much fun as I had! Go crazy!

*(I know that's not its official purpose, and my initial goal when I signed up last year was to meet new people, but as it turned out my favorite items to collect were the ones where I could contribute to the team by playing on my own. It confirmed that I'm a true hermit. ~grins~)

The past few evenings I've finally been catching up on Pottermore and started going through Book 2. I must admit I skipped the potion in chapter 11, because it takes an hour to brew and I couldn't stay up until after midnight to finish. I will go back on Saturday or Sunday so I can try it in the daytime. Although I haven't even managed to make a practise potion before, so I fear it will still take me hours to get it right. But then I will be up to date and ready to wait until they actually open The Chamber of Secrets. If you want to friend me there: my name is PhoenixNight165 and I'm in Hufflepuff. \o/

In case you were wondering: yes, I'm an adult. :-p

Contrary to earlier announcements, PotterMore is not able to let everyone in today. (There is an explanation here) If you've read Harry Potter you should definitely register though;) It's so much fun to go through the story again and the extra notes from J.K. Rowling are awesome. If you get in and want to friend me there: I'm PhoenixNight165 and I'm in Hufflepuff:)

Yesterday I finished an epic SPN_J2 BigBang story that made my week so much better and I figured it was time I made a reclist of my favorite BB fics of this year. Unlike last year I didn't make a genre-selection before reading; I put every J2 (and JDM/JA and even Misha/J2) story on my e-reader and gave them all a try. There were a couple that were disappointing* but I've discovered a lot of awesome stories and learned once again that good writing makes any genre enjoyable.
From wingfic to horror, with a dose of schmoop )

I still have some stories left to read, but the BigBang has prevented me from going through my bookpile since July, so I'm gonna save those fics for later in favor of finally opening The Art Of Travel by Alain de Botton that I borrowed from my brother. (I want to be able to return it and have an excuse to visit nephew Ruben;)

So guess whose Hogwarts house colours are "bee-like" yellow and black (I'm quoting J.K. herself here!)? Heehee \o/

Before I go back to Pottermore, I wanted to link you to my mod-post in [livejournal.com profile] nickngreg. Because I'm so fricking proud we finally found the best way to share classic fanvideos with the community: WE HAVE OUR OWN NICK&GREG YOUTUBE NOW :-)

Here's a glorious example of the marvelous fanvideos we share there. [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan made this for meeeeeeeeeeee years ago and I still LOVE it. Lyrics and beat of the song in perfect harmony with memorable Nick/Greg scenes. Bliss.

Also: if any of you old Nick/Greg fangirls (boys) out there feels inspired to write about these two (and how they are doing now when they're getting ready to go back to work in SEASON 12 (TWELVE!!), why not give our author and artist challenge a shot? Pretty please?

Thought I was gonna be busy with two fandoms today; I had planned to do make another design for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang after I finished my modwork for [livejournal.com profile] nickngreg. But the day turned out differently when just after noon an owl arrived in my mailbox with my welcome-message from PotterMore \o/

Needless to say I spent the rest of my day on that website;)

If you want to friend me, my name is PhoenixNight165 (please leave me a message here or on one of my other social network places to tell me who you are in RL or online, because I won't be able to tell on PotterMore;)

More about my wand [beware of SPOILERS] )

Heehee, my neighbour went to London to visit his family and his brother, who worked behind the scenes of Harry Potter, gave him all kinds of cool memorabilia, which he gave to me!

Look! )

More happy news: I finally found another shop that sells my new favorite green sparkly toothpaste, woohoo!
