Dare to be different and learn to be lonely

Uh-oh, Livejournal changed their photo-album lay-out and interface. I don't like change, so it will take some time to get used to all the new bits. All functionality still seems to be intact, so I hope the 14,000+ images I archived over the years are safe.

I'm currently in the middle of landofart Phase 21 and instead of waiting until the end (in December), I figured I'd already start sharing the graphic designs I created to far. Included fandoms are: Orphan Black, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, the Witchter. Enjoy.

Challenge 8 is Seasonal Teamwork, a long running multiple fandom challenge, in which my team SteamPunk works together to create a 24 graphic designs, based on episodes 1-24 of different tv show seasons. Deadline is in December:)

Challenge 10 is a Scavengerhunt where you collect or create specific fandom related images before November 15. I will start on that next week. To be continued...

I'm off to London for a long weekend of theatre (Shakespeare! RHLSTP!). What are your plans for the weekend?

Besides work, this week I've mostly been busy with preparations for the renovation that is planned for my building this year. I had to move stuff out of the way in the downstairs storeroom (where I stall my bicycles) and up in the attic (where I have build a movie theatre) to make space for the electricians to work in next week. (The paper skeleton I build back when I was 'studying' medicine, is now (temporarily?) hanging in my livingroom:)
I also visited the model apartment on the second floor that has already had most of the renovations done, to see what's going to happen and what options I get for my new kitchen.
Part of the plans won't happen unless at least 70% of occupants will agree to the additional renovation proposal. I'll know for sure about the kitchen in April, but they will definitely remove the gas water heater and build a new heating system for water and all the radiators in my apartment. That should be an improvement already, but I really hope I get a new kitchen, solar panels and special double glazing too! Fingers crossed all my neighbours see the value in that as well:)

Now, on to landofart. Challenge 3 is the long running Hide & Seek, which will return every other week for a new round where you create art to collect points for your favorite themes. This week my votes went to ( Crime, Superheroes and Period Drama )

I collected a whole bunch of excellent images from Pride and Prejudice, the miniseries from 1995, so you can expect more graphics with those this LoA phase.

Next week I'll be focusing on my quicky_bang artwork. If you are in the mood to play in the Supernatural fandom, there are still fab short fics available to art for in the SUBMIT & CLAIM post (More fics are also welcome!). This round runs all through March & April.

We play in teams, I'm currently in Team Steampunk, there is a point system but it's a friendly competition and you don't have to do every challenge. In between moderating and making artworks for the SPN_ReverseBang, I'm also still playing in landofart. Here's an update from the latest few challenges. (I handed in Golden Tickets for Ch. 8 + 10 so I could skip on creating anything for those, saving valuable time and energy;). I made quite a few animations, I'm putting them behind the cut to not overwhelm the flist. Would love to hear what you think of these though, so come take a look!

I initially wasn't sure if I wanted to participate in that last one, because it was a painful subject, and it turned out to be bittersweet to create these graphics. But it was also a nice way to remember these people <3

Another challenge with a music theme; this time we had to include (part of) lyrics of our choice. Any type of image was allowed and we had several options of designs. I created an Icon, a Colorbar and a Picspam:) For the latter I was happy I managed to make my combination of pictures a little more dynamic than my previous effort, where I just put them together in a 2x4 frame. I really enjoy that landofart keeps giving me opportunities to tweak my work with every new challenge:)

I chose my images first and then thought of lyrics that would fit the mood of those. Can you guess the songs I chose?

Mom did come over for dinner and we both enjoyed my cauliflower oven dish (even though I forget to add the egg to the sauce, oops). Because of the flu she didn't stay for a film, but we did have enough time to catch up and I got to show her all the art thingies I'd been working on in January:) Somehow I forgot about Jeff floating high above on the ceiling, huh. We did have a good talk about kinks though *grins* Now that movienight is cancelled, I have time to do that 39 question meme that's doing the rounds on my flist...
