Unfortunately the new ReverseBang dates have the same issues as last year's spread out schedule and based on that experience I had already decided I wouldn't participate if it happened again. To find satisfaction in arting I need be able to be in the moment and that's just not going to work if I need to be available for collaboration over such a long period of time. (Posting won't start until January 2015!? On something that I'd have to start working on now? No. This is not a BigBang, minimum wordcount is 3000) Even though I am sure it's the best choice for me, it still feels like a huge decision. I have conflicted feelings about not joining in, especially since I've been with this challenge since the start. I will still be making the piece I had in mind, but I'll do it in my own time.

Rant over. On to the MEME (if anyone still wants to talk to me;)

Lots of authors on my flist are doing the writing meme and I want to play. I think there was an actual art-meme going around some time ago, but I couldn't find that, so I've changed the current ABC-set to suit artists. Give me a letter/pair of letters and I'll answer your question(s)!

A. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-piece of ART.
B. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
C. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?
D. How many ART ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
E. Share one of your strengths.
F. Share one of your weaknesses.
G. Share a teaser from one of your favorite pieces you made and explain why you’re proud of it.
H. Talk about your current wips.
I. Which ART has been the hardest to create?
J. Which ART has been the easiest to create?
K. Is arting your passion or just a fun hobby?
L. Is there an episode section of canon above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
M. What’s the best advice you’ve ever come across?
N. What’s the worst advice you’ve ever come across?
O. If you could choose one of your pieces to be filmed, which would you choose?
P. If you only could visualize one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
Q. Do you create your art from sketch to finish, or do you mess about out of order?
R. Do you use any special tools, like worksheets or outlines?
S. Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?
T. Describe your perfect arting conditions.
U. How many times do you usually revise your ART before posting?
V. Choose one of your earlier ARTs and edit it into your current/a different style. (Person sending the ask is free to make suggestions).
W. If you were to revise one of your older pieces from start to finish, which would it be and why?
X. Have you ever deleted one of your published ARTpieces?
Y. What do you look for in a beta?
Z. Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?
AA. How do you feel about collaborations?
AB. Share three of your favorite artists and why you like them so much.
AC. If you could make an alternative version of any ART out there not made by yourself, which would you choose?
AD. Do you accept prompts?
AE. Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your image being from the show (or RPF is applicable)?
AF. How do you feel about smut?
AG. How do you feel about crack?
AH. What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?
AI. Would you ever kill off a canon character?
AJ. Which is your favorite site to post ART?
AK. Talk about a review that made your day.
AL. Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?

After three nights of bubble baths and theatre, I'm catching up on Tumblr, Twitter and LiveJournal. I'll tell you all about my adventures later, here's already a summary:
Day 1: traveled from Z. to LND, read The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
Day 2: did some (book)shopping and started reading Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins
Day 3: went sightseeing and finished reading Catching Fire
Day 4: traveled back home, read Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins

Can you tell I didn't have access to the internetz? *grins*

In between reading I made 255 photos, most of them featuring Stonehenge. It will take me a while to sort them and to be able to completely focus on that, I need to get something out of my system first.

I have some questions for anyone who already read The Hunger Games trilogy. First of all: should I watch the film? (I'm leaning towards ignoring it, but am wondering about certain characters, also: Stanley Tucci!). Does it cover all three books, or is it a TBC?

From the nineties I remember a whole bunch of disasterfilms, like Dante's Peak, Volcano, and other Oh Dear THE WORLD IS ENDING films, that all kind of blurred together in my mind. So I don't know which one of these had the scene I always refer to; after a lot of people had died gruesome deaths and our heroes are walking through a devestated city, all of a sudden they hear barking and whatdoyaknow: the dog made it.
Now you may already be aware I'm not a pet-person, and those kinds of scenes do not move me as is probably intended. If anything they piss me off, because all of a sudden it's implied all the deaths are not that bad, because at least the precious pet survived and all is well again.

I was reminded of this by one of the final scenes in Mockingjay, where low-and-behold, the cat turns up alive at the end. I think my "you got to be kidding" was uttered out loud, even before my sigh of exasperation.

Hey, I don't kick puppies, I just can't stand the gratuitous use of them, okay?

I'd rather have found out what happened to the pearl instead of the cat. Or maybe that was explained, while I was moping about my pet-issues?

Don't get me wrong: I loved the books, or I wouldn't have devoured all three of them in four days, regardles of lack of internet. After all I did bring my e-reader filled with BB-fanfics as back up, but I just couldn't stop reading about Katniss & Co;)

Besides being a little annoyed about the 'at least the dog survived'-moment, I am even more frustrated about the epilogue. I should have learned from Harry Potter to not read that tagged on 'happily ever after', but what's done is done.

So even though I thouroughly enjoyed (well, you know what I mean) the story of Katniss and adored her for her doubts and ignorance about other people's feelings and her own abilities, I'm now left with a bitter taste. Because what the fuck? It had to have an ending with kiddies? Colour me cranky.

Nevertheless I'm hoping there is a cure for my grumbles. I was wondering if there is anyone who was thinking like me that Katniss didn't have to choose between Gale and Peeta and they ended up in a relationship together, fighting memories of bad experiences between the three of them. I have no doubt there is HungerGames fanfiction so if anyone knows of a fic about this, I'd love to hear about it. (Even if it features pets;)

There are a lot of specific scenes I'd happily discuss further, but I better get started on selecting photos now:) Feel free to disagree in the comments!

I really, really, really, really, really, REALLY wish I had someone to watch 'Say Yes To The Dress' with. Obviously I watch it because it's excellent bitch tv. For those of you who never heard of it: it's a real life televisionshow about brides to be who go shopping at Kleinfeld in New York ("The largest selection of weddingdresses in the world").
I don't believe in marriage and find weddings a waste of money, so I'm already judging anyone who walks into a bridalshop. But that's only the start...
Never mind that these people are willing to spend over 1500 dollars on a dress they are only gonna wear once (I'm sure I buy things that they wouldn't understand). That's the bottom price of dresses at Kleinfelds, by the way. Average spending on the show is about 3000 - 5000 dollars and sometimes twice that amount.
What bothers me is that they often don't HAVE that much money to spend. I assume they get a loan or put it on credit? Either way they don't know the meaning of the word budget. (Neither do the shop-assistents, oh pardon, the 'consultants') Plus a lot of these women don't even pay for their own dress and have mommy and daddy or their fiancé pay the bill. What the fuck. It just boggles my mind.
Don't even make me start about the dresses. I hate this program and the channel it's on so much, but I just can't stop watching. Every workday there is a double feature from 8-9 p.m. and it has me glued to my couch. Yelling at my tv.

It's awesome. Anyone want to come over and watch with me? Pretty please?

This was my last spam-post for today. I plan to finally write a decent one tomorrow, about my massage and the progress of the Cleaning House project. I also hope to have time for a rant-post, titled: "Dear artists of BigBang and other fanart-challenges, stop listing Google Image Search as a source for your material. It's a fucking search-engine, not the owner of any photos."

From previous experience with the J2_SPN Big Bang I already knew to prepare for a hangover the day after posting my artwork. Not because people aren't lining up to leave loving comments, but because after months of obsessing, creating and artistic fiddling, I suddenly didn't have anything else to do but wait and see if people would notice my work. So I always feel a little empty and lost afterwards.

Not that I had high expectations: I picked a relatively rare pairing and I know not everyone is running to comment after a post appears anyway. I too am way behind in following the [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang and I also don't always know what to say right away. But this isn't about me or anyone else receiving a lot of comments. It isn't about the quantity or even quality of comments at all.

What does leave me feeling down is the fact that once again all the attention goes to fiction while art is disregarded. I really thought the nature of this challenge would have at least the members and followers of the Reverse Bang community showing their support for the artists. Especially since this time there wouldn't even be fiction if it hadn't been for the artwork prompts!
So I'm gonna bitch and rant a bit, okay? )

If you don't see the time and effort artists put into their artwork, if you can't be bothered to appreciate their contribution to fandom, that's your loss as far as I'm concerned. You should at least know they all put as much love, sweat and tears in their artwork as authors do in their stories. It would be nice if you realize that.

Now get your ass over to [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang and share some love, dammit.

There was much I had wanted to rant about this week, but my mind and body are a mess and I couldn't focus long enough to write it all down. I finally managed to scribble my thoughts down and get them off my chest. This may be a little late, but for me still relevant;)

Enough whining. I have something to look forward to and right now I will focus on the fun: I'm going to Reykjavik next weekend! Despite my ridiculous experience with traveling I'm already starting to stress out about packing, but I'm sure I will get through that and be able to enjoy the adventure *g*.

So, how are all of you doing? You've been awfully quiet, flist. So much so that I worry I'm missing out on stuff. MAIL ME, COMMENT ME, LOVE ME. (You know I love y'all, right?)

Been busy reading, trying to decide who to vote for in the csifanfictionnominations.
A lot of good stuff to choose from (but sadly also some surprisingly dumb and badly written stories).

But what really gave me a headache happened at work: dear Damon got me very upset. As usual you can read about it in my other corner (ie website). Not a lot of ranting this time, but my heart is sobbing quietly:'-(
