Another favorite challenge: fanmix/CD covers! In the past I have done a few of these for fandom projects with music chosen by authors I collaborated with. This time I went through my own archives of (old) mixtapes/CDs after picking my objects of affection.
I wanted the designs to feel like real 'old fashioned' album covers.

I started with a scene from The Losers that to me looked just like one of those photos of an indie band gazing gloomily into the distance. I chose moody music for the guys (that in my mind could fit their relationship in the film as well as be a disgruntled lovers kind of mood;).
I also really wanted to do something with that amazing red photoshoot with SMG and Co (that I had used for a sigtag in an earlier challenge). I zoomed in on Buffy and Willow, debated calling it the witch/slayer mix but then realized their last names sounded perfect as a duo. I put together songs with a ladies' theme for those two.
When I came across the fabulous photos of Jeff Goldblum, I knew just the funky songs that fit him, and that turned into a very eclectic set.

Made for [livejournal.com profile] landofart: 6 Front/Back Cover including 10 Songs (each!)

Below you'll find all three full sized cover designs (+backcover with songlists) as well as links to all the fanmixes on YouTube (I was thrilled to find all the songs, especially since some are rather obscure, I LOVE THE INTERNET.:)

Would love to know what you think of these!

Woohoo! I have lots of days off in a row, be prepared from some spamming:) I hope to also finally get some things done at home and I still have to decorate for the holidays, so I'll keep this post short. It's dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] badbastion as a thank you for the invite to the livestream arting and also for [livejournal.com profile] amber1960 to introduce her to Caro Emerald:)

I'm late with everything. This lovely lady has been a sensation for quite some time now, but I only just bought her first album "Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor" (2010). I've been swinging with Caro Emerald for the past couple of weeks. Here are two of my favorite songs:

Is she not delightful? *crushes hard*

Speaking of that man, my next post will be a collection of JDM vids. For archiving purposes.

Ack, fell asleep on the couch. Sat up, changed the channel because I don't know what the hell the tv was on and I fell right into the sleepover in Grease ('Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee'). No going to bed straight away now. First film I ever saw in the cinema, *chinhands*
What was your first cinema experience?

This was a very good weekend. After being crazy busy for the past few weeks with real life and fandom which were both affected by the shoulder incident, I finally finished physical therapy and am pretty much back on track with everything. Right on time to fully enjoy a long weekend off that I had planned long before all the unexpected events.

I had scored tickets for [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan and me for the Quadrophenia concert of The Who on Friday. We could sleep over at my brother's afterwards and thus were able to also plan Saturday in Amsterdam. We decided to get online tickets to visit the Anne Frank house. That was very impressive. Below mostly a wordy report, as it's not allowed to take photos inside. The pictures of the concert are blurry, but I'm adding them anyway, because THE WHO!

Friday, July 5: monuments and music )

Saturday, July 6: statues, more monuments and the Anne Frank house )

So many different impressions and feelings. I came home exhausted from that emotional rollercoaster of a weekend. But it was absolutely amazing.

I got four hang-ups, I'm trying to beat
Four directions and just two feet
I got a very very secret identity
And I don't know which one is me

[The Who - Four Faces]

Wow. I'm overwhelmed by the lovely responses to my two sets of artwork in the past few day. These may have also been responsible for luring in a couple of new followers, so awesome. *waves* I'll do a proper post later this weekend and I'll also start replying to comments then.

Today and tomorrow are all about relaxing. Which I desperately need to do after working an extra job (teaching at my old school), going to physical therapy and preparing the artposts, pffff. I still have a lot of chores before I can actually focus on free time. But when I'm done this afternoon I will travel to Amsterdam to do some shopping and have dinner with brotherdearest before meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan at the concert of The Who tonight (They'll be playing Quadrophenia and more). I can't wait! (I saw them in Rotterdam in 1997 and was in awe).
Tomorrow we are going to the Anne Frank House. I've been there before, but only vaguely remember the visit. I've been reading her diary to prepare and hope to buy a new complete edition afterwards. (My version is from 1972, there have been additional pages recovered since then, more on that when I get back)

But first: housework. While I go through my to-do list, here are some links to pictureposts and the aforementioned artposts (just in case you missed them and are curious;)

To the petting zoo with darling nephew Ruben

I'm working on a picspam post for my Nick/Greg fandom, but in the mean time let me share another set of showermusic. Note: I don't only have showers when I make these lists *grins* I got up extra early to enjoy a long one this week, here are the seven (7!) songs my Ipod randomly selected for me. Links lead to YouTube vids.

So how many of these do you know? Got a song on your mind you want to share? Sing it to me!

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] aerynvala. In anticipation of the new Panic! at the Disco album, I figured I'd imagine a cover myself. Of a fake band:) I quite like how this turned out.

This bandname and albumtitle made me think of Opus - Life is Live. Heh. Austrian Europop-rock. Ahw. What can I say. I was a teenager in the eighties; I grew up on shitty music :-p

Want to play?
1. Go to Wikipedia.org. Select 'Random Article'. Whatever comes up is the name of your band.
2. Go to quotationspage.com. Select 'Random Quote'. Choose any quote you like on the page, the last few words of the quote are your album title.
3. Go to flickr.com. Select 'Explore'. Select 'Interesting photos from the last 7 days'. The third image is your album cover. Instead I went to their Creative Commons, Attribution/Non-Commercial License pages and just grabbed one off there. IDK, it's a small thing, but I figure better to use art/pics from people who permit it.
4. Go to any photo editing site or use Photoshop/Gimp (it's free!)/..., and put your mad editing skillz to work.

My totally fake band's fake album cover art, thanks to:
1. Niederhof on Wikipedia
2. Quote from Oprah Winfrey:

3. Photo by Plynoi (Photoshopped by me:)
4. Fonts: vtks study (with a bit of fiddling;) & OCR A Std
