Stolen from
aerynvala. In anticipation of the new Panic! at the Disco album, I figured I'd imagine a cover myself. Of a fake band:) I quite like how this turned out.

This bandname and albumtitle made me think of Opus - Life is Live. Heh. Austrian Europop-rock. Ahw. What can I say. I was a teenager in the eighties; I grew up on shitty music :-p
Want to play?
1. Go to Wikipedia.org. Select 'Random Article'. Whatever comes up is the name of your band.
2. Go to quotationspage.com. Select 'Random Quote'. Choose any quote you like on the page, the last few words of the quote are your album title.
3. Go to flickr.com. Select 'Explore'.Select 'Interesting photos from the last 7 days'. The third image is your album cover. Instead I went to their Creative Commons, Attribution/Non-Commercial License pages and just grabbed one off there. IDK, it's a small thing, but I figure better to use art/pics from people who permit it.
4. Go to any photo editing site or use Photoshop/Gimp (it's free!)/..., and put your mad editing skillz to work.
My totally fake band's fake album cover art, thanks to:
1. Niederhof on Wikipedia

Date: 2011-01-15 07:49 pm (UTC)I don't think I was too impressed by that song back then, but it used to be stuck in my head for days.
Of course the other kind of music that name made me think of was a politically engaged German band (With songs like Skandal im Sperrbezirk by Spider Murphy Gang;)
I'm so ready for new Panic! music. SO READY.

Date: 2011-01-15 07:56 pm (UTC)I got into Panic! originally right before Pretty. Odd. came out, it's good to have that feeling of nervous excited anticipation again. :D

Date: 2011-01-16 09:03 am (UTC)One more thing we have in common;) I'm anxious to hear their new/old sound. The way Brendon described it in his latest two interviews makes me think it's more upbeat than Pretty.Odd., which is what I would like. I'm also very curious about his lyrics; from the teaser at the ND site it seems they are not as 'write about what you know' as he claims, but closer to Ryan's somewhat 'over your head' style... Not long now, right? Mona Lisa should be released within two weeks, I'm sure.

Date: 2011-01-16 09:21 am (UTC)I do think this will be more upbeat in terms of actual musical speed, if not emotional tone. The lyrics may not be flowers & light, but then this hasn't exactly been a shiny happy happy joy joy time for them.
I have a deep abiding love for somewhat precocious lyrics, like those on Fever. :D So I'll be fine with them going that direction again. I do think the songs will be personal, but still relying on metaphor and allusion.
I figure they'll either do it this coming Tuesday or the next. This Tuesday might be too soon for the video to be ready, though. If not I bet they'll debut it the Tuesday after the Argentina show. I really, really hope they get a lot of press and have endless interviews. :D

Date: 2011-01-16 09:52 am (UTC)precocious, what a perfect word. I hate that I can't always find the exact English term of what I mean to say. I wanted to say pretentious, but since Ryan poured his soul into those Fever lyrics, that wasn't really appropriate.
I would think Brendon also has enough family baggage to draw from, even if he's still so very young, but he doesn't have the ability or need to dwell on the past like Ryan. His way of dealing with issues is clearly less passive-aggresive.
I sure can relate to Ryan better, but it's Brendon's seemingly never ending optimism that makes me love the boy so much. I at least hope his lyrics are not as bitter or cynical, even though they would suit me better, I would be shocked (and sad to lose a rolemodel;)
tl;dr-ing again :D
Date: 2011-01-16 10:33 am (UTC)Honestly, I can't tell that you're not a native speaker. Precocious and pretentious are very closely related in usage. But precocious is what you call it when someone is young and you don't mean it in a bad way. I've seen Ryan called pretentious a lot, and I'm sure he can be, but AFYCSO's lyrics were precocious, not pretentious. If he'd been older and less queer looking he could've gotten away with it. *rolls eyes*
I think Brendon deals with angst by using humor and determined optimism. Which is totally cool so long as he doesn't buy his own PR and still actually deals with things. I can far more easily relate to Ryan's introspective and pessimistic nature, though. I figure that Brendon's lyrics aren't ever going to be as dark as Ryan's or Pete's or Gerard's. He's just not that guy. And that's okay!
But if you look at the lyrics for Folkin' Around, and you ignore the "Allow me to exaggerate a memory or two" which I honestly feel was put there because Brendon tends to downplay his feelings and abilities, they're actually kind of sad. I mean, they contain the "well, if I'm not enough you're on your own" sentiment which is nice and healthy, but still. Heartbreak. If Folkin' Around had been set to Fever-esque music it would've felt vastly different. IMO. Same with I Have Friends In Holy Spaces. Those are not happy little ditties, no matter what the music and the way he sang them made it sound like. (and god do I hate the word 'ditty' when applied to his songs. RAGE)
I do think that like those two songs, and like New Perspective, Brendon's songs are going to more likely end on a positive lyrical tone. Because he's a hopeful sort of guy.
Also, did you know that your LJ shows up on Google? Wasn't sure if you knew or not, if you'd rather it didn't you can go here:

Re: tl;dr-ing again :D
Date: 2011-01-16 10:29 pm (UTC)I should really check out that German interview, back when it first appeared I was still on such a high from my trip to Berlin that I really didn't pay attention.
Ahw, thank you. I didn't learn English until highschool, but of course over here we are surrounded by it through films, tv and music. Fortunately I've had a lot of opportunities to practise my speech and expand my vocabulary, but it's definitely limited compared to how I can express myself in my own language (even if the dictionary is my friend;)
You are absolutely spot on about Brendon's songs on P.O.; from the opening lines to carelessly dismissing them as "ditties"; that's exactly how I feel about those lyrics. I also don't see New Perspective as a particularly happy song. Even if that has that sense of hope like the other two songs.
I'm pretty sure I deliberately opened up my journal and blog for search engines. I also always link to myself all over the place. Like it says in my intro: I prefer openness. Or I possibly have an unhealthy thirst for attention *g*
Re: tl;dr-ing again :D
Date: 2011-01-17 12:49 am (UTC)Wow, I took some French in high school & an introduction to Spanish in college and I'm fluent in neither. heh I keep meaning to get around to it, but that smacks of effort. ;)
The other day I was trying to help my BFF Bella create a fanmix, and we needed a song that expressed being happy and in love. Between the two of us we have really a lot of music. But we had the damnedest time trying to find something that would fit that mood. heh I think Nine In The Afternoon is the happiest song I have.
Okay, cool re: search/blog. It's set to open by default, so some people don't realize. :D
Re: tl;dr-ing again :D
Date: 2011-01-29 08:47 pm (UTC)Ahw, yeah, over here French and German are also mandatory classes in highschool (next to English and Dutch obviously;) but since I didn't get to practice those languages much in real life, I can't really manage them now. I can understand German, mostly thanks to watching tv, but I'm barely able to speak it. I made two studytrips to learn Spanish, in Spain and in Ecuador, but again; not kept that up, so I forgot most of the lessons:(
