I cleaned up my Christmas decorations this morning and listened to Stephen Fry: he read
Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban to me. Bliss. Three chapters done and a lot more to go. *loves Stephen and Harry*
It has been ages since I went to the cinema by myself. It used to be a weekly event up until May of this year (that's when the misery started). This afternoon I went to see
Enchanted with Patrick Dempsey, whom I have had a crush on since the eighties. I discovered the feeling is still there, despite Grey's Anatomy (I loved the first season, but stopped watching after that). I saw him first, ladies and gentlemen. Gosh, he's so delish. <3
Film is highly recommended, not only because of Patrick;) The story starts as an animated fairytale, but when the prince wants to get married, his evil stephmother fears for her throne and uses her magic to sent his girlfriend Giselle to present day real-life New York... It's sweet and funny and dreamy. Well done, Disney!
Not so good: that group of ten year old girlies some mom and dad dumped in the theatre. After intermission they really got out of hand and I had to tell them to behave. I thought guiding birthdayparties was part of parenting. My bad. Apparently you simply leave them on their own and go shopping.
FYI: I realize Enchanted is a movie for a young audience, I was totally prepared to deal with children. However: besides the original subtitled version, there is a translated dubbed version available. And even though these girls were old enough to read, it's too distracting for kids at that age to be able to really get into the story. They would have had more fun in the other theatre. Plus I think parents should be present to share (and guide) the experience.
Even less funny: when I got back to my bike
once again my waterproof pants were missing from my bikebags. Let me give you a forecast of the weather on Mondaymorning: there will be a lot of rain between 8 and 9 in the region of Zwolle. Grumble.
I updated my
to read list 2008. Thanks to
kennedy_unknown,
tanisafan and the co-workers I added three new books to my collection. Thank you!
