beelikej: SPN behind the scenes S7Ep5 (Work Out Jared)
Pfff, finished my 10 day Yoga Challenge, which was bit of a dissapointment to be honest. Most of the sets were much too complicated and had moves that no normal person can do without 10 years of training. Oh well, at least I tried to keep up and do the thing for 10-15 minutes every day. HA!

This was all preparation to get back in the rhythm of a daily work-out. Now it's time for fitness exercises. Tomorrow I'll start with a couple of days of Standing ABS (or Upside Down ABS;) If you want to join me,check the instruction video of Jillian Michaels )

After that I will move on to Jillian Michaels Shred Level 1 for ten days: )

All of these are part of my countdown to a 60 days Role Playing Game Work-Out from Darebee that I will start on Februay 1...
It's called... Age of Pandora
Age of Pandora is the world's first, fully immersive fitness quest. You get to be the hero in a post-apocalyptic, fully realized world that really needs heroes. Your workouts reflect the activities of the central character. You are given the opportunity to fight monsters, forge alliances and save the world. You get to do it at your level of fitness and progress at a pace you find works for you. Are you ready to enter, Pandora and mark the beginning of a new age?

It's sort of like the Hero's Journey I did last year with [livejournal.com profile] whiskygalore, [livejournal.com profile] enablelove, [livejournal.com profile] sinfulslasher, [livejournal.com profile] sleepypercy, [livejournal.com profile] amypond45, [livejournal.com profile] somersault_j.
No pressure, just fun and encouragement through Twitter and Livejournal. You can do the exercises in the privacy of your own home and on a time that's convenient for you. There will be no guilttrips for missing a day, but it will be a serious effort to get of our butts every day;)

Does anyone want to join me? It's suitable for beginners and there are different levels to choose from every day. You can download pdfs of the whole Pandora Program (and peek at the first chapter;) here:)

I'm excited about this!
beelikej: (Doodle Sad)
To do my bit in keeping LJ alive, have another post! I'm also planning on presenting some artwork for the [livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang this weekend... I hope to catch up on reading and commenting too (I only had time to sneak a peek at the fandom discussion that's going on, *\o/*, y'all ROCK!) - but getting the art done has priority *grins*

Speaking of artsy fiddling; I sent out some creative packages to the US a couple of weeks ago and I fear two of them got lost in the mail; it shouldn't take this long for them to get there :( Now of course I made photos of the process and had wanted to do a WIP/behind the scenes picspam, but I don't want to spoil the surprise for the recipients should the snailmail arrive eventually. What do I do, flist? Should I try to reproduce what I made? How long do I wait? In my experience it usually takes two weeks at the most for mail to cross the ocean.

Reminder for everyone who's been thinking about working-out and doesn't know where to start: a bunch of us are going to do a 60 Days Hero's Journey fitness RPG, starting tomorrow (Saturday, August 6) It's suitable for beginners and you don't need any equipment, just enthusiasm;) We'll support and motivate each other on LiveJournal and Twitter. Cheerleaders are welcome too! Read all about it in [livejournal.com profile] somersault_j's post over here!

Besides fitness, arting and signing up for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema tomorrow, I'm gonna start packing for my trip to the UK next weekend (What? I like to take my time;) where I will visit [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams and her Swinnions! (That's an awesome design she did on a pig statue, not the group of other fanpeople we'll be meeting up with in London;)

Talk to me, flist! (Or if you just returned to LiveJournal, why not check out my latest artposts? See the 2016 section of My Masterlist of artsy fiddling to check what you may have missed;)
beelikej: (Meryl Streep)
If anyone wants to meet up while I'm in London, let me know! I'll be there this Friday and Saturday for a bit of strolling and theatre. I'm hoping to explore the Prim Rose area, but will mostly hang in the center of town and will also spend some time in the Forbidden Planet store;) I'm counting down until the (k)nightbus!

Just in case you missed it: I posted new artwork! I made it for a wonderful short story that was submitted to the [livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang by awesome author [livejournal.com profile] blackrabbit42, featuring Jensen and alien!Jared. I'd love for you to come over and check it out: Strange Days Indeed

For my own convenience, I've written out my current work-out set. After the ABS challenge in January, the Shred in February and Pilates in March, I'm now doing the Upside down abdominal work-out (a shout out to [livejournal.com profile] somersault_j, [livejournal.com profile] whiskygalore and [livejournal.com profile] amypond45 who are also doing this one in the middle of fangirl squee:) Feel free to ignore this, but you're most welcome to join us if you want!
My fourth 30 Days Work-Out Challenge )

Another personal challenge is to go to bed at a reasonable time, that one is much harder to do than the exercises! But if I hurry I might make it today before midnight, eep!

J.

P.S. I updated My Masterpost of Artsy Fiddling:)

Lalala life

It's been an adventurous weekend so far. After the waterballet in the kitchen on Friday, yesterday my new washingmachine was going to be delivered between 13:00 and 18:00 (1 and 6 pm) or so I was promised. I would also get a phonecall thirty minutes ahead of delivery. When I still hadn't heard or seen anyone at the end of the afternoon, I called the shop. They said the delivery truck was running a little late because it had been so busy after their big sale last week.
I would think that you can't book more than a maximum amount of deliveries in a day, but okay... Anyway, I waited for two hours, but after I didn't get a response to a tweet for help, I decided to call again at 7. I was told the truck would keep going until everything was delivered.

Finally, at NINE pm, the guys showed up with my new washingmachine. Good thing they were cute and apologetic and rather adorably inexperienced (I had to lend them my tools and they kept asking each other wich way to turn the screws, boooooooooooys!). With a little bit of my help they managed to get the machine working. All on their own they had lifted the beast up all my stairs (I live on the third floor with no elevator) and brought the old machine down to the truck as well (that one was heavy: approximately 90 kgs) so at least I was in awe of that *g* Oh and one of them wore a beanie indoors, aaaahw.

Here are some pictures of before and after in my kitchen (especially for [livejournal.com profile] bflyw who wanted a better look;) sorry, no photos of the delivery guys.

New washingmachine! )

BAKING CROISSANTS!
Today I created my own fun: on my bakingcalender I got from Sinterklaas I found a recipe that didn't scare me!
I baked croissants with knakworst and cheese: )

WORK-OUT! )
Last but not least: this morning I did a try-out for my next 30 days challenge. I liked the tone and tempo of the instructor, so I decided to go for Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. It's a 25 minute full body work out available on the Be Fit YouTube channel here. There is a DVD version that has 3 levels and I think you're supposed to move up a level after 10 days. Level 2 is also up on YT: here.
I downloaded both of these videos with VideoGrabby:) so I don't have to be online to do them.
For now I'm focusing on the first level, if that's doable I may move on after day 15. I'm also allowing myself restdays if needed (because that turned out to work as a great motivator for that 30 days ABS challenge I did;). I'll probably go with Wednesdays because that's when I cycle to my moms (that's about twenty minutes including a steep bridge;). On those days I'll do the Lowerbody floorwork on my Gilad DVD instead.
The biggest challenge for the Shred will be the Jumping Jacks, because I really REALLY hate those. I'm going to preemptively reward myself for trying by buying a sportsbra :-p

Challenges!

Feb. 4th, 2016 02:31 pm
beelikej: SPN behind the scenes S7Ep5 (Work Out Jared)
Yay, today I'm having a pajamaday as a reward for finishing two challenges!
In October 2015(!) I started working on my [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang artwork, it was claimed for a collaboration in November and in the past three months I've created additional pieces and turned the original design into a storybanner. I'm happy to finally be allowed to present all my arsty fiddling and yesterday I unlocked my RB artpost:) I'd love for hear what you think of it: click the teaser to see how those paper tentacles turned out!

I also did the 30 Days ABS Challenge )

This week I'm taking a break from adding to my regular fitness plan, but I think I already know what to do for my next work-out challenge.

I also signed up for another fanart project: I'm doing a collaboration and a solo piece for [livejournal.com profile] spn_meanttobe. These are not due until May, so if anyone has any suggestions on what I could participate in until then? (Preferably one with a tighter schedule;)
beelikej: (Ackles Lip)
When I looked out the window this morning, it was snowing! I thought we would just skip winter this season;) I started the day with my morning work out: fifteen minutes of easy exercises on the old people's channel *grins*. Then I did the first of the 30 day ABS challenges, that was... interesting. I didn't know sit ups actually involved sitting up! Couldn't do it without anchoring my feet, and then only barely managed 15 repeats, so we'll see what happens tomorrow... Good thing I have an LJ support group here:)

DAY 4: In your own space, create a fanwork.
This is a place holder!
The new snowflake challenge pops up at the end of the day here and I won't be able to do that today. Tomorrow I'm out of the house to meet up with my sister in law G. and to have dinner with my friend J. in Utrecht. I'll pick things up on Wednesday.
(I'll also go through the day 2 wishlists on my flist then:)

beelikej: (Uil)
Unclogged the sink in my shower this morning \o/ Of course after that the little voice in my head convinced me I'd already achieved my chores-quotum for the day, allowing me to procrastinate for a large part of the day BUT I eventually managed to ignore that voice and did my full hour work out with Gilad, go me.
Heehee, my #climbit tweet about Jared being confused was retweeted and liked a LOT (over 200 times and counting!) I love fandom.
And on that note, it's time for:

Today is another one that a lot of folks find difficult, because a lot of us have been taught we shouldn't talk about ourselves, that's it's vain, or boastful. But isn't sharing what we make, for the fandoms that we adore, a big part of the fun?

DAY 03: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

I'm fortunate to receive plenty of love and attention for most of my artprojects, especially since I started playing with paper and clay. I guess those are now kind of signature BeeLikeJ arts & crafts:) I do however like to try new things and aim to find different ways to mix media. These three recs represent that.

First up an artset that was rather underrated in my opinion, or it just felt that way because my other two collaborations in that year's ReverseBang got a lot of attention in comparison;). Maybe my idea got lost in execution, but I had a lot of fun experimenting with melted crayons and adding digital effects to my marker portraits. I wanted the artwork to look like those old fashioned superhero comics with cheap/bad colouring. I was quite pleased with the result, but feel free to offer concrit, I love to hear what you think either way!
A Different Kind Of Superhero
J2 | PG13 (for bare chested Matt Cohen;) | Made for RB2013

Next a more recent piece that I love a lot, but perhaps not everybody noticed because it was posted outside of a community-challenge. The artwork is a handmade combination of cut out drawings and photos which I digitally turned into an animated banner. I made it for a marvelous story written by [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, whose summary also describes the art: "As a law student, Jensen's used to long, sleepless nights. What he's not used to is all the headboard banging and cries for Big Daddy happening in the apartment next door that keep him up all night."
Dear Neighbours
J2D | R-rated (is that Jared's naked butt? Yes, yes it is) | Polyamory fic!

It's obvious from my artmasterlist who my favorite subject is, so my third rec is a totally self indulgent project that was totally an excuse to fantasize like woah while I was fiddling with his paper body:
Guardian Angel Jeff
JDM | G-rated (he's all dressed up for a chance *g*) | With links to an extensive making of process

Snowflake Challenge DAY 1 + DAY 2
beelikej: (Ventimiglia & Padalecki)
I'm not a fan of resolutions, because usually these just add extra pressure to new plans, but I decided to actively try and lose some weight. It's hard because I have mixed feeling about this as I continue to tell myself that my appearance doesn't matter, but I know I have to put an end to this obsession with food and take better care of myself. Writing that down here is an extra reminder.

My big reward will be fitting in the different kick ass jeans in my closet that I had to give up on in the past few years, as opposed to needing to go shopping for new clothes, which is one of my least favorite things. So shrinking my tummy will get me free awesome clothes that I don't have to leave the house for, win-win!
To keep my mind off stupid food, I started working out with Gilad Janclowicz again, that's at least an hour I can't snack, ha.

Other things I'd like to try are being more active on LiveJournal and bring some sort of regularity to my days, which I've been struggling with since becoming unemployed in September. So here's a daily blog challenge I'm participating in, which will give me something to post about for the first 15 days of the year:) Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] angelus2hot and [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams for bringing it to my attention. We're going to do this \o/

Fandom Snowflake Challenge banner

DAY 1 - In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge?
Ha, already kind of answered that above. On top of giving me an incentive to post every day, I also thought it was a nice opportunity to get back on track with fandom, since I felt I've been keeping to myself a little too much in the past few months. (For understandable reasons, mind you;) Oh and maybe I'll also jumpstart my Dreamwidth journal again with x-posting there.

DAY 2 - In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
Gosh, this is indeed a little scary to write down in public, but here's my list (in no particular order;)

  • I love getting comments on my art, no matter if it's old or new.
My latest artpost featuring Sam Winchester includes a link to my masterlist

  • Outside of challenges it's sometimes hard to come up with ideas or find collaborations.
If there are any authors who would like art for a fic, I wish they knew they can reach out to me.
Comment below, PM or mail me anytime: beelikej@gmail.com

  • Oh, how marvelous it would be to have a short story to go with any of my JDM art from 2015:
Jeff with wings (or could it be John Winchester??) / Jeff and twinky Jensen / J3 polyamory
or that one J2 submission piece I made in 2014 with collared Jensen...

    beelikej: (Happy Holidays)
Only a bit more fiddling to do before I'm happy with my design for this year's Xmas cards. They will be ready to send this weekend. If you want one you can still leave your address in this post. I'm thrilled I could already add so many of you to my old fashioned mailinglist *smishes you all*. I always get a little emo looking back on the year and it's very nice to be reminded that besides all the stupid job-issues there were also awesome times, a lot of them thanks to you:) (Don't worry, I'll save the rest of my speech for New Year's Eve...)

Yesterday morning I was doing my exercises with Gilad Janklowicz and all of a sudden I could touch my knees with my elbows in Abdominals session #2! I could already manage that in #1 for a couple of weeks now, but never thought it would be physically possible for me to do it in the more complicated position from the second set. Huh! Go me:)
In the afternoon I had an appointment for a hot soap stone massage, also known as a 'Wellness treatment'. I must admit I prefer a firmer kneading, but the gentle scrub with additional stroking was really nice. *purrs*

Today was another workday, meh. I'm counting down to the holidays; only five workdays to go, woohoo! This weekend I will be working on my gift for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas and hopefully also on catching up on commenting on LJ. (There has been a lot of couch hanging and avoiding interaction these past few weeks, oops)

Oh, also: I'm going to clone my journal to Dreamwidth, just to be ready when LJ disables the ability to use the old style for posting and I may want to try that crossposting option over there. I'll still be on LJ, but I just want to be prepared if I can't handle the changes anymore;) If you want to join my "circle" there, I'm BeeLikeJ (ha!)
    beelikej: (Huckleberry Finn)
Fair warning: I may spam you with posts today. The second week of my summervacation has begun and in order to fight the depression that's looming from feeling rather useless, I've decided to not linger on thoughts but to get them out as they pop up;)

This morning I slept in for the first time during this vacation. I did get up around 8.45 to watch the news, but I was still snoozing on the couch, so after catching up with the world, I crawled back into my cozy, warm bed and relaxed for another hour and a half, go me!

When I got up for real I figured to not only acknowledge that I am currently not happy with my body but to also take action. I'm tired of not being able to bend properly and I'm tired of being sad when I have to deal with clothes. So I took a deep breath and got out my old workout video from Gilad Janklowicz and did the whole 30 minutes of floorwork. I wasn't able to do all the exercises fully and had to do normal time when Gilad did double time, but I did finish the whole workout, so yay! I plan to keep it up every day and encourage you to ask me about it, as a reminder:)

Today I want to make a start on the cleaning out of the spare-room, but before I can do that I need to go back to the store to change the storage boxes I bought; the size is right, but the lids have the wrong colour, which has been bugging me all weekend. Ugh, the stupid little things I let get to me. *frowny face*
