So I've been experimenting with watercolours and painting. Can't show you all my projects, but here's a piece I made for the Snowflake Challenge. Remember that? It was supposed to be 15 days in January, but thanks to other projects and life I stopped. Here are links to the first few days:
Day 1 - Talk about why you're participating in Snowflake.
Day 2 - Create a fannish wish list.
Day 3 - Self-recs.

Day 4 - Create a fanwork.
For this I checked other people's Day 2 wishlists and played in multiple fandoms:
I created BtVS Icons and Jeff/Jensen story headers in Photoshop
and made a papercut HP Snape story banner!.
Below you can see my final artwork outside of the Supernatural zone:)

I had fun discovering other characters in different kind of stories than I usually read and I heartily recommend the short fic below to everyone on my flist! No knowledge of the fandom is needed to understand and enjoy the bittersweet story about Helga Pataki and her family.

So, eh, hi? I didn't mean to stop posting in the middle of the Snowflake challenge, but I all of a sudden got the urge to do one of my home cleaning projects and it just felt so good to finally get my life back on track, that I didn't want to use going online as an excuse to fall back on procrastinating. I feel I'm getting a grip on things again and I will finish the rest of the challenge in my own time;)
In between sorting out my arts & crafts closet, I also worked on another Snowflake Day 4 artwish: I made a storybanner for [livejournal.com profile] elmyraemilie! I returned to one of my old fandoms that I never made art for: Harry Potter. I was working on my interpretation of Severus Snape on the day Alan Rickman died, it was nice to be able to do something to remember him.

Banner IntoABar-BLJ.jpg

Title: Into A Bar
Author: elmyraemilie@Dreamwidth
Characters: Harry Potter, Severus Snape, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley
Summary: Sometimes, all you want is a cold beer and a quiet bartender.
Description: AU | 4380 words | G-rated

Artist: [livejournal.com profile] beelikej
Medium: Paper (black, white and peach coloured) + black marker
Font: Sunshine in my Soul (edited:)

It's a pretty cool story:) It was also fun to discover that elmyraemilie and I have more old fandoms in common:) Who knows what may inspire me next... I loved stepping out of my SPN comfort zone and arting with a different character. Here's how I made the banner:

My Masterpost of artsy fiddling (Now with new 2016 artwork!)
beelikej: (JDM CSI)
Had a great day in Utrecht on Tuesday, but walked so much I had a day of blah to recover yesterday. I did do my daily work out and day 3 of the 30Day ABS challenge, but skipped the DVD training session with Gilad. I spent the day doing mostly nothing with some arting in between.
Today I sent out another job-application and sorted other professional mail. I still have to work out with Gilad, and tonight I'm having dinner at my mom's, so I only have a little time to catch up online pfff.

I did not forget about this!
Here's what I did for DAY 4: In your own space, create a fanwork.
I chose to fulfill some art wishes from the Day 2 Snowflake challenge and first made icons for [livejournal.com profile] angelus2hot of Buffy & Angel & Riley, gosh it was so much fun to play in that fandom again. And because we had recently discovered in the comments on my 2011 Pirates Of The Caribean Artwork, how much we both like JDM with eyeliner I also fiddled with him (haha, who is surprised, like I need an excuse;) Then of course I couldn't stop, so for anyone who wants it, below is a Jeff icon (from The Good Wife:)
You can see the other icons here

I also made story banners for [livejournal.com profile] stripytights, after I discovered her awesome Jeff/Jensen ficset:

Click on the banners to read the stories!! JDM/Jensen | NC-17 | a/b/o | part 1: ~5500 | part 2: ~3000
Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] stripytights for giving me inspiration and an excuse to fiddle with visuals for this:)

I'm still going through other people's wishlist and am working on some paperart pieces for those... This snowflake challenge is a GREAT incentive to reach out and play in other fandoms, I love it!

Snowflake challenge DAY 5: Leave feedback for a fanwork.
Well, obviously I squeed all over the stories up above, because I was thrilled to discover old Jeff/Jensen.
There is also NEW JDM/Jensen to check out, because [livejournal.com profile] kalliel was inspired by a drawing [livejournal.com profile] sillie82 made for me and wrote a story! How is that for spreading fandom love?
Her Privates We - JDM/Jensen | R | AU | ~950

I also tried to leave as much feedback as possible on recent projects on my friendslist, but I ran out of time to check all of it. As I will be home late tonight, I'll return to that -and day 6/7 of Snowflake- tomorrow!

Y'all are being too creative for me to keep up!

When I looked out the window this morning, it was snowing! I thought we would just skip winter this season;) I started the day with my morning work out: fifteen minutes of easy exercises on the old people's channel *grins*. Then I did the first of the 30 day ABS challenges, that was... interesting. I didn't know sit ups actually involved sitting up! Couldn't do it without anchoring my feet, and then only barely managed 15 repeats, so we'll see what happens tomorrow... Good thing I have an LJ support group here:)

DAY 4: In your own space, create a fanwork.
This is a place holder!
The new snowflake challenge pops up at the end of the day here and I won't be able to do that today. Tomorrow I'm out of the house to meet up with my sister in law G. and to have dinner with my friend J. in Utrecht. I'll pick things up on Wednesday.
(I'll also go through the day 2 wishlists on my flist then:)

Yesterday we asked you to ask for things, which for some of us was very hard to do. Today is another one that a lot of folks find difficult, because a lot of us have been taught we shouldn't talk about ourselves, that's it's vain, or boastful. But isn't sharing what we make, for the fandoms that we adore, a big part of the fun?

DAY 03: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
I'm fortunate to receive plenty of love and attention for most of my artprojects, especially since I started playing with paper and clay. I guess those are now kind of signature BeeLikeJ arts & crafts:) I do however like to try new things and aim to find different ways to mix media. These three recs represent that.

First up an artset that was rather underrated in my opinion, or it just felt that way because my other two collaborations in that year's ReverseBang got a lot of attention in comparison;). Maybe my idea got lost in execution, but I had a lot of fun experimenting with melted crayons and adding digital effects to my marker portraits. I wanted the artwork to look like those old fashioned superhero comics with cheap/bad colouring. I was quite pleased with the result, but feel free to offer concrit, I love to hear what you think either way!
A Different Kind Of Superhero
J2 | PG13 (for bare chested Matt Cohen;) | Made for RB2013

Next a more recent piece that I love a lot, but perhaps not everybody noticed because it was posted outside of a community-challenge. The artwork is a handmade combination of cut out drawings and photos which I digitally turned into an animated banner. I made it for a marvelous story written by [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, whose summary also describes the art: "As a law student, Jensen's used to long, sleepless nights. What he's not used to is all the headboard banging and cries for Big Daddy happening in the apartment next door that keep him up all night."
Dear Neighbours
J2D | R-rated (is that Jared's naked butt? Yes, yes it is) | Polyamory fic!

It's obvious from my artmasterlist who my favorite subject is, so my third rec is a totally self indulgent project that was totally an excuse to fantasize like woah while I was fiddling with his paper body:
Guardian Angel Jeff
JDM | G-rated (he's all dressed up for a chance *g*) | With links to an extensive making of process

Snowflake Challenge DAY 1 + DAY 2
beelikej: (Uil)
Unclogged the sink in my shower this morning \o/ Of course after that the little voice in my head convinced me I'd already achieved my chores-quotum for the day, allowing me to procrastinate for a large part of the day BUT I eventually managed to ignore that voice and did my full hour work out with Gilad, go me.
Heehee, my #climbit tweet about Jared being confused was retweeted and liked a LOT (over 200 times and counting!) I love fandom.
And on that note, it's time for:

Snowflake Challenge DAY 1 + DAY 2
beelikej: (MMMorgan's Bakery)

DAY 2 - In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
Gosh, this is indeed a little scary to write down in public, but here's my list (in no particular order;)

  • I love getting comments on my art, no matter if it's old or new.
My latest artpost featuring Sam Winchester includes a link to my masterlist

  • Outside of challenges it's sometimes hard to come up with ideas or find collaborations.
If there are any authors who would like art for a fic, I wish they knew they can reach out to me.
Comment below, PM or mail me anytime: beelikej@gmail.com

  • Oh, how marvelous it would be to have a short story to go with any of my JDM art from 2015:
Jeff with wings (or could it be John Winchester??) / Jeff and twinky Jensen / J3 polyamory
or that one J2 submission piece I made in 2014 with collared Jensen...

  • X-posted at my LiveJournal (includes day 1)
    beelikej: (Cupcake BeeLikeJ)
I'd like to try being more active on LiveJournal* and bring some sort of regularity to my days, which I've been struggling with since becoming unemployed in September. So here's a daily blog challenge I'm participating in, which will give me something to post about for the first 15 days of the year:)

    Fandom Snowflake Challenge banner

DAY 1 - In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge?
Ha, already kind of answered that above. On top of giving me an incentive to post every day, I also thought it was a nice opportunity to get back on track with fandom, since I felt I've been keeping to myself a little too much in the past few months. (For understandable reasons, mind you;) *I'll also to jumpstart my Dreamwidth journal again with x-posting here.
    beelikej: (Ventimiglia & Padalecki)
I'm not a fan of resolutions, because usually these just add extra pressure to new plans, but I decided to actively try and lose some weight. It's hard because I have mixed feeling about this as I continue to tell myself that my appearance doesn't matter, but I know I have to put an end to this obsession with food and take better care of myself. Writing that down here is an extra reminder.

My big reward will be fitting in the different kick ass jeans in my closet that I had to give up on in the past few years, as opposed to needing to go shopping for new clothes, which is one of my least favorite things. So shrinking my tummy will get me free awesome clothes that I don't have to leave the house for, win-win!
To keep my mind off stupid food, I started working out with Gilad Janclowicz again, that's at least an hour I can't snack, ha.

Other things I'd like to try are being more active on LiveJournal and bring some sort of regularity to my days, which I've been struggling with since becoming unemployed in September. So here's a daily blog challenge I'm participating in, which will give me something to post about for the first 15 days of the year:) Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] angelus2hot and [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams for bringing it to my attention. We're going to do this \o/
