There was much I had wanted to rant about this week, but my mind and body are a mess and I couldn't focus long enough to write it all down. I finally managed to scribble my thoughts down and get them off my chest. This may be a little late, but for me still relevant;)
The Oscars? I used to take the day after off so I could stay up all night and try to catch a glimpse online or find commentary on the radio. Now that they finally show the whole ceremony on tv, I have lost interest. Even when I went to the cinema three times a week it was hard to manage seeing all the nominees beforehand, now that I mostly stay away from the movie-going crowd with their phones and couch-attitude I don't know over half of the nominated films.
I did see The Hurt Locker, but wasn't that impressed. I certainly didn't think it was better than Inglourious Bastards both for either script or over-all experience. I guess the Academy was more interested in a battle between Kathryn and James than giving credit to Quentin Tarantino. At least Christoph Waltz got his much deserved award.
I love Jeff Bridges and didn't see his performance -yet- but it would have to be pretty damn awesome to even come close to Colin Firth in A Single Man.
I'm glad I didn't stay up and let myself get worked up over who was going to win. Congratulations to all, I guess.
Politics? Don't get me started on how our government fell* before ending their term for the fourth time in a row (*does that expression translate?). Why the majority of the country keeps voting for our failed prime minister again and again is beyond comprehension.
On the bright side: 'my' green left party won in the local elections, so there may be hope for the national elections this summer.
I want to thank the people of Iceland for saying what our government should have told the greedy savers before giving them back their money: SUCK IT. I seriously don't understand why the savers had to be compensated for their loss. I believe it's so they have money to spent to boost the economy? But if they weren't interested in spending the money or investing in our own banks in the first place, what's the point?
I don't agree with what our minister of finance did, but I'd rather the millions of people in the UK and the Netherlands bring up the (tax) money to fix the booboo of 340.000 suckers than have the 310.000 people in Iceland who had fuck all to do with the mess cough it up. Do the math.
Personal issues? I'm getting quite tired repeating myself every month; despite getting older, my cycle is not getting easier. I thought I was doing fine emotionally/mentally, but fighting the body is wearing me out and I'm trying not to slide into a depression. Being constantly hungry and horny while battling the body is tiresome.
I've fucked up quite a few dinners in the past few days and eating is a struggle all day long, but I'm not sure what is cause and effect when it comes to feeling like a failure on this issue. *brave smile*
Enough whining. I have something to look forward to and right now I will focus on the fun: I'm going to Reykjavik next weekend! Despite my ridiculous experience with traveling I'm already starting to stress out about packing, but I'm sure I will get through that and be able to enjoy the adventure *g*.
So, how are all of you doing? You've been awfully quiet, flist. So much so that I worry I'm missing out on stuff. MAIL ME, COMMENT ME, LOVE ME. (You know I love y'all, right?)
