A day in Cuenca [Travelblog]
Aug. 15th, 2006 02:55 pmI've got all day to discover Cuenca. The town is not that big, so I take it easy. I start with a walk along the 'river' (more a small stream this time of year;) and manage to find the backyard with Inca-ruines that's mentioned in my travelguide (Lonely Planet)... - no comment.
After some shopping I relax in my hotelroom and watch tv from the bed. Ha: about twenty channels, but no TV-Amazonas, so it was a very good decision to spend the night in Cañar last Sunday: I rule! :-)
In the afternoon I buy groceries for my trip tomorrow and I wander through the north-east part of town. After that it's time for another siësta. My back really appreciates today's slow pace.
Unfortunately there are no smoke-free seats available at Raymipampa tonight, so I choose an Ecuadorian FastFood-café for diner. A very charming girl behind the counter admires my eyebrow-piercing. The food is also delicious: fries with some sort of sausage and a mango-yoghurt-shake: tasty.
The day ends just like it started: with a hot shower on my back. Mentally/emotionally these days were great, physically it was a challenge, but I'm starting to feel a lot better now.
Next day: from Cuenca to Guyaquil
