After arrival at JFK around 1.30 a.m. it takes me about an hour to get through customs (thanks to one of those typical NY a-holes with an attitude) and collect my bags. I get on the airtrain to Howard Beach where Hans is waiting for me: hug! My darling brother not only thought to bring water (liquids where not allowed in handluggage and I am really dehydrated by now) he also brought his favorite big sister a bottle of Pink Lemonade. Another hug!
We take the subway to Brooklyn and arrive at his room around 4.45 a.m. We sleep until about eleven and then we are ready to hit the town. We start with a burger at Wendy's and sit at the beach near the apartment. Then we take the subway to Manhattan for a walk to Ground Zero (formerly known as the World Trade Center). It's hard to explain how I feel and I don't mean any disrespect, but the atmosphere is very 'American'. To emphasize that: there is a huge group of bikers (motors) that loudly ride around to commemorate September 11, 2001. It's all a bit overwhelming.
We walk around Downtown and have diner at Big Nick's (click here for explanation why, warning:~CSI-related and possibly porny~) .
At night we hang out at Times Square.
Next day: New York - Laundry, Bodies Exhibition, Central Park
