beelikej: (BigBang2011)
[personal profile] beelikej
A new collection of recommendations from the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang and once again it's an artwork bonanza, even though I finally had time to also read a couple of stories. So I've added three Jensen/Jared/Jeff ficrecs (two J2 and one J3;)

I see a lot more people commenting on artwork this year, that makes me happy. If you don't know where to start, I hope you feel inspired by this post to check out some of the artwork in your fandom and leave the artists a comment. It doesn't take as long as investing in a story;)

BB 2012 reclist numero dos
As usual the titles link to the artist's masterpost. My favorites from the past few weeks in random order:

Tablet paintings for Tear a Way In: artist [livejournal.com profile] xarenna - Holy werewolves, check out the movement captured in the transformation scene, it's stunning!

Digital compositions for Zero Minus One: artist [livejournal.com profile] stawberynvanila - I really love this set of artwork; it's colourful, crisp and perfectly cyberpunk. Inspired by the matrix, but with an original execution. Also check out bonus badass JDM (He has a skull on his chest. Yum.)

Stylish handdrawn art for 143 Alice Grim Lane : artist [livejournal.com profile] fanlay - Beau-ti-ful. Absolutely stunning drawings from the tight graphic design of the banner to the scenes between Sam and Dean. I love how fanlay captured the guys and the tight shading just blows me away. Glorious artwork. Beware of nsfw image at the bottom (getit?;)

Comicstyle covers for Palladium: artist [livejournal.com profile] nox_wicked - Wicked cool designs fit perfectly with wicked cool story!
---> FICREC!---> [livejournal.com profile] zuben_eschamali is one of my favorite story-tellers; once again she builds an incredible world and gives such depth to all the characters; it had me mesmerized for hours. A wonderful adventure about an alien invasion with Jensen as the captured leader of the human resistance and Jared as the fanboy who makes it his life's mission to rescue him. READ IT: Palladium, J2 AU / 65,000 words / NC17 / Warnings: mind control, mention of suicide attempt

Paintings for Water is Moving Underground: artist [livejournal.com profile] scarletscarlet - Jeff in his bearded glory and I don't even mind, such is the awesome of this artwork. Such a unique style. Look at that motorbike creature. The lettering on the banner and chapterheaders is perfect (Did I mention I love skulls?). I can't even tell you how I squeed when I saw Jeff's tattoos. [Bedscenes, possibly nsfw] <3 ! It's all in the details. Don't forget to take a look at the second artpost with loads of information about the artprocess

Graphic Banner and digital drawing for Roads Left In Both Our Shoes.: artist [livejournal.com profile] callowyn - A rare pair (Castiel/Claire) so maybe that's why not a lot of people saw this. But it's a solid banner design and the drawing is wonderful; look at the lightning veins and how that part of the picture lights up.

Watercolour art for The Water Was Cold: artist [livejournal.com profile] alt69 - Lovely artwork. I was surprised by the contrast between the rather dark banner and the light & soft drawings. Although the last image feels a little gloomy, the big pieces both show such a sweet touch. I like this drawing style.

I have more artrecs, but since each piece deserves attention, I will put those up in another post. Last but not least, two quick ficrecs. For full summaries follow the link to the fics;)

Through Mist Or Open Sky - [livejournal.com profile] obstinatrix
Quick description: "WWII pilots Jeff/Jensen/Jared"
Well, you know JDM is my faaaaaaaavorite and although my OTP is Jeff/Jensen I do like me a dose of J3. This is more than threesome fic though. Obstinatrix really managed to capture the War-era and the special little universe of a squadron. All the men are such real guys, even the cameo characters, like CMM, have spot on personalities. There is such attention to details and a real investment in the characters. I loved how the men all focused on the job while at the same time keeping an eye on each other. All of their interactions had such subtle touches. *sighs* Yes, good story. [J2, J3 / NC-17 / 27,500 words]

Never Stuck Around Long Enough for a One Night Stand - [livejournal.com profile] beckaandzac
Quick description: "TruckerJensen/short-order diner cookJared; Jensen only does one-night hook ups with guys on the road, so he's not gay."
A beautiful story. Jensen's internal homophobia made me all emotional; he was struggling so much, and the selfhate was almost too painful to read. Jared is a sweetie, giving Jensen time to get to terms with his feelings.
[J2 / NC-17 / 26,000 words]

Have additional recs for me? Want to correct me on the medium I thought was used? Comment:)

Oh, also [selfplug]-want to see my latest artwork?[/selfplug]
(*sings* "It's my journal and I plug what I want to" *realizes that sounds a bit.... odd and stops singing*)
