Oh joy

So it seems my body has indeed entered the early stages of menopause (apparently you're not supposed to actually call it that until the 'm' has paused for over a year;). Last year my cycle skipped two months which gave me the misguided hope that the whole thing was over with. This delightful feeling was crashed in December, when it was party-time as usual. *pouts*
Since a couple of weeks my body is completely confused and I have no idea what my monthly timeline is. The past few days I experienced all the usually spread out festivities at once: headache and nausea from pms, cramps from ovulation and -woohoo- a bloody mess that doesn't fit the normal schedule.

Seeing as I've been as regular as clockwork since the beginning (oh my, has it been thirty years already?) I made a doctor's appointment to rule out other issues. Physical examination didn't show any problems, so that at least eased my mind. I still have to wait two weeks for the result of the additional test, but I expect that to be alright as well.

Looks like I have no other option than to go with the flow (so to speak, heh). *angrily starts singing You make me feel like a natural woman.

Hrmpf.

I think the stop/start business took me a couple of years, but that includes stopping for like 5-6 months at a time, then a month or two on. Sadly, the "on" was a pain, but the "off" was great :-)

Now I'm officially "off", but have entered the hot flash phase. Blech. It's always something, you know??

I was told I was "on the cusp" two years ago, and all I can say is, long bloody cusp! Though, yes, mine have been starting to get a bit erratic and overly frequent recently. Bleh.

Hee. While you await the "pause" part, may I recommend . . .

I am going into my 31st year since I started cycling. I would really like it to stop soon. I have a suspicion I woun't realize when it starts. Due to PCOS I have never been regular, and though it usually varies between 3 - 8 weeks between, it has on a few occation been up to 6 month between 2 cycles. What I have been spared in spaced out periods though have been thurougly paid back by very painful and "wet" periods when they do come. So much so that I have always had trouble with my iron levels.
I really won't be sad when it all stops.

good luck with the result of that last test.... and lets hope the MP comes soom without much ado.

Menopause has nothing to recommend it. I went for over a year with nothing at all then was hit from out of the blue by my bodies version of Armageddon, which then vanished again for about 18 months. I think I might well be free and clear now but who knows?

I keep thinking I've done with the hot flushes too. After having them every morning at about 6.50 for over a year I thought they were over after a flush free summer but I'm still having the odd one.

Ugh, I'm so sorry that it's doing this bb. I hope you don't get all the horrid ness that can come along with it all.

I await the symptoms of menopause and I'm not real anxious to get there. I had a hysterectomy in 2000 so I've been totally enjoying not having to deal with the messy side of things.

I'm glad you went to the doctor to check things out, just in case. I'm doing the same later this month because I had a weird occurrence a few weeks ago (the doc wasn't worried when I explained things but still wants to see me). Such fun being a woman sometimes. lol

I know my mom just started taking her pill continuously, which is not exactly super healthy but she did it for like a year, and after that time, menopause had set in good and proper. No mess, no fuss (just chemicals in your body, ahem).

Sounds like I have months of fun to look forward too, grrr. A couple of years ago I started experiencing hot flashes as part of my pms-repertoir, that is overwhelming. I just hate that it's all so unpredictable.
Thanks for sharing *smishes*

I guess I've been lucky with being regular; of course the whole thing is still messy and painful, but at least I knew when to expect it. It's all so bloody random now, grrr.

That looks like an amazing book, I've ordered it right away! (The hard copy edition of course, as my black&white e-reader would not do its magnificence justice;)

Thanks for that. Now STOP SINGING *chases you*

I've been angry about having to deal with it ever since my teens. It's only for the last couple of years that I sort of found my zen and now I have to adjust to the irregularity, hrmpf. I've been bleeding heavily for 7 days now, it sucks. (Fortunately it has been painless, but still, bleech.

Thanks for sharing your experience. *smishes*

Oh dear, so far no one has said it'll simply be over in a couple of months, that's not good, grrr. Hot flushes are horrid; I had them during pms in the last couple of years, can't imagine having to suffer from that every day!

Thanks for sharing *smishes*

Well so far I can deal with it, but the thought of dealing with this randomness for months (or even years) is not encouraging. *pouts*

My mom had a hysterectomy when she was this age, so we don't really know what would be the usual regime with menopause. I guess I'll just have to wait and see, hrmpf.

Yeah, I figured I'd best get confirmation as soon as possible in stead of adding worries about the irregularity on top of all the bodily issues.

Thanks for sharing. Hope your appointment goes well. *smishes*

Sounds like a dream, but I'm not too fond of taking pills as you know;) The doctor had some alternatives if things get too rough to handle. But pending the test-results I think I'll just try to deal with it. *determined face*
