ARTWORK for SPN_Cinema 2016

For every art-challenge I participate in, I set myself a new goal. After doing a lot of papercutting and a bit of watercolour painting for previous projects, I wanted to get back to digital design. So for this edition of
spn_cinema I played in Photoshop again. \o/
I tried some new techniques and the visuals came pretty close to what I had in mind, even if I strayed from my original plan of manipulating scenes. I also included more text than I initially planned because I’m just so fond of the film's script; a couple of conversations hit me right in the feels and I simply had to add those words to emphasize (or possibly clarify) the images.

LA, 1968. Jeff is a college professor who recently lost his partner, Jensen, in a car accident. As he goes about his daily routine, his encounters with an old friend (Danneel) and a young student (Jared) lead him to reconsider whether life is worth living without Jensen.
Title: Just Get Through The Goddamn Day
Artist:

Movie Prompt: A Single Man
Pairing: Jeff/Jensen (past), Jeff/Danneel (past), Jeff/Jared (potential)
Rating: PG
Media: Digital Graphic Design (Photoshop)
Notes: The film is set in the early sixties but I ended up with a look that's closer to the end of that era because I felt Jeff’s appearance fit that time better *grins*. There’s an even greater age difference in the film, I adjusted the ages to suit my fandom favorites, but Danneel is closer to Jeff's age here.

Danneel and Jeff are best friends; in the past they fooled around a bit. This was long before Jeff met Jensen.

Jensen: I'm confused. If you sleep with women then why are you with me?
Jeff: Because I fall in love with men. Because I fell in love with you.
Anyway, doesn't everyone sleep with women when they're young?
Jensen: I haven't.
Jeff: You're joking.
Jensen: No. I'm not. It was just never anything that interested me.
Jeff: Well. You're awfully modern aren't you? You know, that was the first thing that I noticed about you was how sure of yourself you were. How can you be so sure about everything at your age?
Jensen: You think I'm sure of myself?

Jared: You know, everyone keeps telling you that when you're older,
that you'll have all this experience - like it's some great thing.
Jeff: That's a load of shit. I think I've actually just gotten sillier and sillier.
Jared: Really?
Babbling
Yes, I used the similar photo of Jeff in two of the scenes; it was an experiment in how the same look can convey a different emotion when put in another context.
I rewatched A Single Man after I claimed the film, I had forgotten how terribly sad it is. VERY GOOD, but so so sad. Highly recommended. Kudos to Colin Firth and also great performances by Matthew Goode, Julianne Moore and Nicholas Hoult. <3<3

Hurt!Dean (Jensen) is a screencap from SPN S4Ep16 On The Head Of A Pin.
I used the young Jared photo before, in my 2012 BB pinchhit artwork! That photo and the one from smiley Jensen in an SPN photoshoot were grabbed from PicDeStars
Danneel probably looks familiar too, as I used photos from her arrival at the Hollywood Domino Gala in February 2011 as a base for my 2013 SPN_Cinema papercutting art! Photo credit: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images North America.
Jeff's images came from a still from a video interview about The Possession and a photoshoot for New York Moves Magazine in April 2015 by Scott Witter (Also thanks to stylist Lisa Cera:) - You may want to read the article too, it's adorable.
Last but not least: Jeff kissing Jensen at VegasCon 2015 was captured by Amyshaped@Twitter <3

Title: Noir-et-Blanc from DaFont

I didn't add a making off, but I can do one if anyone is interested in Photoshop masks and filters.
Comments are always welcome, whether it’s concrit or simply a smile :)
