After spending the first day of my autumn trip exploring Haarlem in the rain, my second vacation day was going to be a mostly indoors day, because I had planned to spend my time lounging (and bathing:) in my luxurious hotel suite:) I only went outside in the morning to buy a bubble bar at Lush and get some buns for lunch, before staying in for the rest of the day. Here's a small picspam of the short walk, and my fancy dinner:)

Of bathbubbles and fantastic food

After a long lushious shower, I went downstairs for breakfast in the colourful hotel restaurant.

Love the table design (although I am still annoyed about the miscount in that chromosome graphic).
Breakfast was scrumptious with freshly made french toast and home made granola for my yoghurt. (Also: a croissant and home made bananabread:)

Excellent carpet design as well!
After breakfast, I curled up with a book in that cool swing in the reading corner of my suite.

When it stopped raining, I went outside for a quick shopping mission.
Nieuwe Gracht 5: House Barnaart, where Lodewijk Napoleon (younger brother of Napoleon Bonaparte), the first king of the Netherlands (1806 -1810), once lived. Took a photo this time because I missed it previously, when I was more impressed by the neighbour's house at number 5 (now covered up, see my July picspam for a good look of its superior decorations:)
Kruisstraat 45: stately patrician house from 1730 that I had to capture because of the awkward breasts; I doubt the sculpture had ever seen them in real life.

You can just about see the top of the St. Bavo church in between the facades in the Spekstraat.

Haarlem's shield of arms above the entrance of an unknown building.
Brought back two 'krentenbollen' and a scone for lunch in the sitting area of my suite. Also: hot chocolate:)

For my afternoon bath I used a mermaid bubblebar from Lush <3

I stayed in the blue(!) bath until all the bubbles had gone (about two hours later;) Finished my book!
Then it was time for dinner; look at that cool bottle with Haarlem tapwater.

It was a Choose whichever course you fancy menu and I started with a tompouce filled with goat's cheese, pear and candied red onion: a delicious combination of textures and flavours.

An Angusburger with cheddarcookie and honey roasted bacon (plus a load of fries, not in photo).
Bruschetta with prosciutto-aioli and caponata.

My favorite dish was Limburgs soervleisch with sweet potato-fries
For my final hot course I chose pumpkin soup.

I had three of the four available desserts (opted out of the tiramisu): mango bavarois, nutty cake and cheesecake.
Found chocolates on my hotelroom door \o/ What a great evening:)

Ended this marvelous day with another bubblebath and a book. Bliss.

Goodnight. (To be continued!)
