The plague took my voice :(

Despite being sick (since Tuesday, but I didn't stop working until Friday afternoon) I went to Ikea with my mom yesterday. Not smart, but it was the last chance before her vacation and I desperately needed a new office chair. The one I currently have has been broken for a long time and it can't move up anymore, resulting in me sitting at the height of a toddler while I'm on my computer. Not cool.
I had done research beforehand, and I had found two chairs to check out. (Protip: always make a list before going to Ikea to prevent yourself going crazy with want;) Unlike other stores in the Netherlands that close at 5 p.m., Ikea was open until 8 on Saturday, so we could take our time. So mom picked me up around 11.45 in the morning for the 75 minute drive up north to Groningen. (fun fact: I was a med student there, waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the late eighties/early nineties). We managed to get everything of our list within about an hour, go us! I didn't have to think about the chairs too long; one of them just didn't look good up close. Unexpectedly the cheaper of the two turned out to be my obvious favorite and the best choice. Because we were done so quickly we decided to put all our stuff in the car and catch the bus into town for a bit of clothes-shopping (and possibly a tiny trip down memorylane;)
When we got to the busstop I was pleasantly surprised by a promotional poster of HBO's series Magic City; I didn't know we could even watch HBO in the Netherlands!
Unfortunately I had left my camera in the car, but of course upon sensing my distress, my mom said we should walk back to get it before going into town. Ehm, to take touristy pictures, obviously *shifty looks*

What? That busstop is clearly a special landmark. Shut up.

I had to get a close up. (I also may have had my mom take a photo of the two of us. Maaaaaaaaaaaybe)

Tadaah!

After some very succesful clothesshopping we took the bus back to Ikea for dinner (Swedish meatballs FTW). Unfortunately I couldn't finish all my fries and also had some dessert left (A clear sign of me being really sick). But luckily I had a plastic container that fit the lemonpie and strawberries, so I could take those home:)

The clothes I bought: two short sleeved blouses and flowery shorts. Will probably not wear those together;)

Finally bought a frame for my Gishwhes World Record Certificate. I also got a new dishwashingbrush. Lagra is a spotlight for my bedroom.

Chair Markus is still in its box. I'm glad my mom and I managed to carry it up the stairs, but I'm not gonna put it together until I'm a little less feverish. I will of course share the finished product with you then:)
I'm still feeling rather poorly. In addition to the sore throat, the headache and the barkingcough, my ears have started hurting. And the nap I took this afternoon left me feeling even worse, so I'm worried to lay back down when I go to bed later, because I woke up coughing like crazy and almost choking on snot. *pouts* Oh, also: I have no voice left. None whatsoever; no sexy gravelly sound, not even a whisper. When I try to speak I feel like Buffy in Hush, it's terrifying. Since I already know I won't be fit enough to work tomorrow I have sent an e-mail to my boss explaining the situation. (We have to call in every sickday, no matter what kind of plague we're suffering from, it's exhausting). So at least I don't have to worry about that in the morning.
Since I live on my own and my family is out of the country next week, I don't need to talk out loud at the moment, but I do want to be able to yell at the internet and my television again. *pouts some more*
