quicky_bang is going. More short stories were claimed this week and a couple of artists already posted their art, very awesome! On Saturday I went to Amsterdam for my baby brother's birthday party (the kid turned 36 on Tuesday, what is time?) and I took the opportunity to stroll through the city center a little beforehand.
This area is called the Negen Straatjes
Well spotted: the first picture is NOT Amsterdam, but a photo of my town Zwolle that I took this morning on my way to work:)
Second pic is The Singel in Amsterdam, how glorious are those houses?
(The Singel is a canal in Amsterdam which encircled the city in the Middle Ages. It served as a moat around the city until 1585, when Amsterdam expanded. It is now the inner-most canal in Amsterdam's semicircular ring of canals:) (Thank you, Wikipedia)
An interesting wall-tile up in the Wijde Heisteeg, dating back to 1742 when this building was a stockingshop! It was restaured in its original colours in 2008. [Source in Dutch]
View on the Keizersgracht from both sides of the bridge between the Berenstraat (Bearsstreet) and the Wolvenstraat (Wolvesstreet).
That's it, it was only a short stroll;)
So you can prepare: tomorrow I will post a MASSIVE picspam in honour of a special birthday...
