Weekend! And if you missed the earlier announcements: [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan is on her way for a long awaited Marathon of Soaking Wet Men! Also know as The Hornblower and Must See Movies Marathon. On the program: 14 hours of Ioan Gruffud, the CSI Season 8 premiere (in combination with the Season 7 Finale), Bladerunner (The Director's Cut;), Lemony Snicket, Captives and other Very Important Movies we can fit in *g* Final list will be posted afterwards.

More good stuff that happened this week in between the whining and bitching:
  • I got a lot of support from the flist the past days, *hugs you all tight*
  • I bought a funky new vacuumcleaner;
  • My mum tested said vacuumcleaner - in my house; *g*
  • Vacuumcleaner not only looks good, but works like a charm as well:)
  • I received a hilarious mail from Jelle - thank you dahling, it made me laugh out loud, just what the patient needed:)
  • I got a copy of Shortbus;
  • I finished Fat Chance and loved every page of it, again;
  • I threw out another book (see booklist), that made me feel better (FYI I'm not in the habit of throwing out books, out of respect for the author, but this? Has to be destroyed.)
  • I woke up without backpain this morning!

  • Also: My fancy clock&thermo gadget - that can project time and temperature in the dark attic - seemed to be dead, but was only suffering from wet batteries (maybe it got too excited about this weekend? *g*

    Oooh, better get ready too:) *off for looooooooooong weekend*

    I am curious as to which book was forcefully ejected from the list. I've never thrown one out, but I have added a few to a box that I will one day take to Goodwill because I don't want them tainting my library.

    The no pain is an excellent thing.

    You two must have bucketloads of fun this weekend! Well, I know you will. :)

    Oi: no booing during the film! (We're still in the middle of Hornblower and are taking a break for dinner atm) I promised her I'd do the voice over myself, so she would get the idea *veg* I will make sure she will make the right choice :-p

    (FYI: I'm using the final script, I found here)

    It was a Dutch book from a series of 'new' writers: Het Uur Van De Ongehoorzaamheid by Joris Note. "The hour of disobedience": connected stories from the point of view of a confused young boy. He fantasizes about all kinds of perversions while observing other people.
    It was supposedly meant to be an exploration of the development of this character, but to me it seemed like an exercise in describing the most depraved sexual acts and punishments. It was not very convincingly written and more a collection of disconnected thoughts.
    I'm not opposed to bad writing or perversions (I have read some really aweful and dubious fanfiction and may even have enjoyed it;) but this was clearly written with no other intension than to shock and disgust. It had no value for me.
    I would usually save a book I don't appreciate and pass it on to someone who might like the genre, but this was just so very appallingly written. I certainly don't want anyone I respect exposed to it;)

    Fun was had, post will follow;)
