Mar. 26th, 2006 10:35 pmYesterday mum and I spent the day with grandma M. She was moving out of her appartment and while my aunt Gerda coordinated the furniture-part of the move, we got to take grandma shopping. Well, we had to keep her busy for a couple of hours, so we went to... Ikea *g*.
(Some of the stuff we couldn't resist: Urban (turquois), Basisk (hang and stand-up-straight model), Antonius (with wheels), Slugis (the grey one with the lid), Mella (75x75cm) and Molger) (You gotta love the names;)
When the rest of the family was done with the heavy lifting, we took grandma home.
(Hey, it's not like taking care of grandma isn't hard work;-) And we also put in our fair share of manual labour: while mum was working on the curtains, I got to drill holes and hang stuff on the walls. After that I managed to put together the new table and the other Swedish designstuff we bought. I also changed the hideous old lamp above the diningtable and after I figured out the modern system in the fuse-box, everything was done.
Then the three of us got some take-out (fries) and had diner in grandma's old house to say goodbye.
It was a very exhausting but fun day.
This morning my body reminded me that moving house is like a great work-out. I didn't realise I had used all those muscles;)
Grandma is not the only one with a new appartment: little brother Jaap & girlfriend Gayleen made an offer on a house in The Hague and tomorrow they are going to sign the papers. On Thursday they have a meeting with a notary for an official buyers-living-together contract. Wow. Grown up stuff.
And what did his big sister do? Ehm... I spent all day behind the computer and made a new icon! Go me:-)
