I have a theory
May. 16th, 2009 12:54 pmThis post deals with bodily fluids, so you may want to scroll along if that's not your thing. I'm suffering from an overload of saliva. Well, it's more a kind of thick slime that's occasionally covering the inside my cheeks and it's freaking me out. I had to use my fingers buy a tongue scraper to remove it; the consistency makes it impossible to flush it with just water. I don't know what's causing it, but I have a couple of theories:
Most of the articles about excessive saliva mention dairy products as a guilty party. I'm not sure if they could all of a sudden be a problem after years of milk, yoghurt and cheese related products. It would be nearly impossible to cut them out of my diet and it's not regular saliva, but more white stringy slime, so for now I choose to ignore this option; Since I'm still losing weight I figured maybe I finally reached that stage where my cheeks are shrinking and the slime is simply a by-product of disappearing chubbiness (What? It could happen); Or, last but to me most likely: I've been using a new toothpaste and I have a feeling the slime is some sort of allergic reaction to either the red, blue or even white part of the paste. I never had this problem with my sparkly gel.
First test is to dump the colourful Aquafresh and go back to my trusted Colgate. I'll keep you posted on the results. (You're welcome)
Say, have you read my non-embarrassing posts about books? There have been a lot of those in the past week;)

Date: 2009-05-16 03:29 pm (UTC)And yeah, about diary products... When I eat chocolate for example, I notice that afterwards, I've got some slime in my mouth that's hard to swallow, and mostly I spit it out. The other day, I had the same reaction to orange juice. Anyway... I hope it's the toothpaste, 'cause that's an easier problem to solve. :3
