It may have seem like I've been ignoring LJ in the past two weeks, but I have been lurking so I am mostly up to date with everyone's life. Time to get you up to speed with mine;)
I've been very busy at work and my brain has been occupied with that. Don't worry, I've been enjoying it, but at home I mostly hung around the internet or in front of the tv; lame repeats and loads of fanfiction left me in a bit of a daze in between the job.
And then today happened...

Since last week's fortunate event, FBF has been greeting me with a hi or hello whenever he got on the bus, which may not sound like a big deal, but it pleased me nevertheless:)
When he had a bad cough on Wednesday-afternoon, I feared I wouldn't be seeing him for a couple of days. (Especially since he even got an inhaler out at the end, which worried me a bit). Because I noticed he had almost finished the fifth and -so far- final part of the Earth Children-series, I decided to pack book 3 as my back-up book. (Remember how I overheard he skipped that part) - What? I'm a well prepared stalker. (Plus it would totally comfort me if he was indeed too sick to show up;)

I was pleasantly surprised when he did get on the bus this morning, all dapper in his long coat and pointy shoes, yay! He sat down a couple of seats ahead of me, across the aisle as usual. He didn't have a book (he didn't even have his fancy manbag). After debating with myself for about three minutes, I decided to go for it and called out to him: "You don't have a book today?". He turned around, smiled (of course) and answered that he had finished his books and didn't bring another one today. I told him that it was a pity he would have to spend his bustime staring out the window and asked if I had noticed correctly that he had been reading the Earth Children's series. He didn't seem freaked out that I knew exactly what he had been reading and explained he had read four books out of the five. I asked innocently (or stalkerish creepily, whatev.) if it was part three that he'd skipped and offered him mine. As it turns out he had read it before (and that's why he skipped it, not because of his mom;) but he thanked me for the offer. Then we (he!) continued the conversation about his favorite part of the series (first), I told him about mine (second) and from there on we discussed the story. He totally agreed that the last two books were pretty crappy (points!). After babbling a bit about books in general I brought up Harry Potter as an example of other big books, which he had also read (more points!) and then we talked about films. Do I need to explain how I felt when he got off the bus and said goodbye?

I'm not going to think how he probably refers to me as 'crazy old booklady' and will not allow myself to end up in a spiral of reliving every stupid little thing I may have said; I'm having too much fun being amazed by my own bravery and new found people-skills (shut up).

When he got off the bus, I finally continued reading my (other) book in which the guys had a wild fuck up against a tree. (...) Yes. My life. I love it very much at the moment.

OMG baby! You are my hero right now!!!!! I am so proud of you - and what and inspiration! I want to find myself my own FBF! I mean REAL FBF - nor celebrity FBF even though I have frequent conversations with Steve in my head lately.

Eeeeh! Damn, and I'm amazed too, I never would've had the guts to walk up to him and start talking - but books are such a good subject for breaking the ice. Did you figure out his name? Or did you know it before, maybe?

Hee, you totally have an excuse to go talk to him whenever you want now! I AM VICARIOUSLY EXCITED.

*takes a bow* Hey, any kind of FBF that makes you smile is worth it. The real deal has added angst.

Thank you, thank you.

Ahahahahaha. When I saw your question I remembered I had read another book last week with a similar scene and that was John Barrowman's autobiography Anything Goes. This time however I was reading fiction: Dash and Dingo - In Search Of The Tasmanian Tiger by Catt Ford and Sean Kennedy.

*g*. Both books are kind of inappropriate to read on the bus. Well, if you try to avoid getting excited in public. There is really nothing wrong with guys showing affection outdoors;)

Hey, you were totally an inspiration for my bravery. And so far I'm managing to focus on the good. :)

*raises arms in air triumphantly*

Nope. He's still David to me. (pronounced in English of course;)

I must admit I was relieved when he wasn't on the bus on the way back, so I could cherish the memory a little bit more. Tomorrow's another opportunity...
