Have you seen CSI Season 11, episode 8? I have no idea what the case was about, because all I remember is the return of Nick's tight khaki pants. \o/ It was magical and I had to make a picspam to celebrate. Possible spoilers, but I'm pretty sure you won't notice them.

I had planned to do captions, but -ehm- yeah. Lost for words, really.
So... enjoy in silence:)

Okay, that last one doesn't offer the best view of the pants, but there is leaning. It's a thing.

ETA: if you want more Nick/Greg scenes from this episode, I posted some lovely moments between the two of them here (The chemistry is still sparkling:)

THERE WAS! \o/ - I have over a hundred screencaps in total, it was hard to make a selection (Heh. Hard)

Yeah, I thought that might be a favorite. I'm also quite fond of #27, #09, ooh and the mirror image in #25.

I'm not real active into CSI (either watching or the fandom) these days, but for awhile there, yeah, I was all about Nick/Greg :D And they're still my default couple for the show. hehehehe

The only CSI fic I've ever read has been Nick/Greg, and I enjoyed it for about a year there before getting swept away by Supernatural. heh

Even though I'm a mod for [livejournal.com profile] nickngreg, I too was lured away from CSI by SPN-fanfic. I'm mostly hanging out in the RPS section of that fandom though, because despite the show's best efforts, I'm not emotionally involved with SPN canon (to me it's Buffy-light with boys, which is not a bad thing, just apparently not my thing;)

I started with Sam/Dean but as the show got progressively darker/angstier I spent more time in RPS. I still read it both but not as much as before. Season 2 was really the height of my SPN involvement. Bandom came up and caught me in the fall of '07 and that's pretty much been where I've stayed since then. :D Panic being my main fiction-interest. I don't ever really stop being in fandoms, some just get put on hold for a bit. Bandom, because it's not a single band and it has the added bonus of you know, really fucking awesome music, is the longest sustained fandom I've been in since I guess Queer As Folk.

*crosses fingers and chants 'please be talking about the original UK QAF, please be talking about the original UK QAF, please be talking about the original UK QAF'*

I spent about a year in bandom and heard about most of the bands thus, before I actually listened to the music. And then I went to a Panic! concert (in Utrecht, June 2008) and could never read fic again. *grins* But I'm forever grateful to bandom for introducing me to all those bands;)

tl;dr :)

ahahaha :D Actually, both! I started with the UK version of course. Total Vince/Stuart shipper. Though I eventually grew to like Nathan as well and holy shit has Charlie Hunam grown up ridiculously well. :D I really loved QAFUK, so much so that when I heard that we'd be getting a version over here I decided I'd start an archive for it. Which was fairly stupid of me considering how fucking large the fandom got. *shrugs*

I never wrote UK fic, I just could not get their voices and that's key to me. I wrote several US/NAQAF stories but in the US/NA version I was into Brian/Justin. Brian/Michael just never worked for me. Part of that was Hal Sparks, but also I found Vince's nerditude (Doctor Who! K-9!) totally relatable, while Michael's interest in comics was too outside of my interests. Once the US/NA diverged from the UK storylines I enjoyed it better. Not better than the UK, but better in the "okay this is now an original show" sort of way. So now it was two shows with a similar premise, but properly reflecting the differences between the cultures. Plus, I really liked that we got to actually get to know "the lesbians" in the US/NA version. Met some really amazing people in that fandom.

I remember my dawning horror when Showtime announced officially sanctioned fan fiction story starters. It had been drilled into me over and over to never ever ever ever break down that fourth wall and let the creators know what we were doing. And these fuckers were knocking down the walls themselves. :D They had nothing on Pete Wentz, of course. But he's a special little jewel of scary-awesome that is like 1 in 7 billion. :D

I do very intricate mental gymnastics to keep fictional!band-members separate in my head from the real people. But I've gotten quite good at it. It helps that I don't spend a lot of time trying to find out every little detail of their lives. Which would make me feel odd regardless of my other fannish activity. :D

I saw Panic! first on the Honda Civic Tour on Brendon's birthday in 2008. It was amazing. I flew out to California, my friend lived in Los Angeles at the time, and we took a train down to San Diego and went to the show there. Such a fantastic experience. We got to see them again at the Rock Band Live tour later that year, I flew out to California again in the fall for that. And then we got to see them in 2009 at the Next Big Thing festival show. They're the band I've seen the most. But only just, as I've now seen Adam Lambert twice (that was accidental, but appreciated) and fun. twice (totally intentional and awesome both times). I only got to see Fall Out Boy once, but I expect I'll get to see them again some day. And I'm still hoping to talk my younger sister into going to see My Chem with me in May.

*sigh of relief* Good girl. :-p
I like your explanation of the development of the US version, but I have no need to see it after surviving the overwhelming emotions that the original Queer as Folk hit me with. I tend to believe it's best to stop a story before it gets dragged on and on (That would be my general objection to US remakes of any UK series;) Even though as a fan(girl) I would love to be able to have those characters around FOR EVER, I appreciate creators that end a story when it's still amazing. (I'll watch/read it again and again)
Vince is my favorite, Stuart always makes me hiss and Nathan had the best and worse traits of both of them combined: he made me clutch my heart a lot;)

Breaking the fourth wall is also something they did on SPN. Which was fun and did indeed make me giggle, but I prefer to keep the subtext exactly that: subtle and not noticable to people outside of fandom (or inside of canon:).

Traveling all over to see Panic! reminds me of my trip to Berlin, which was well worth it. I do however hope the guys will play closer to my home to promote the next album. Although I'll probably will go anywhere in Europe if they only do a small tour;)

after the first I'd say...maybe 6 episodes of the US/NA version of QAF it really became a different show. And it was going pretty good, characters were changing and growing and it was really neat. And then the writers decided to be utter asscracks and completely destroyed all the character growth that Brian had made right at the end. I still rage about that.

I generally do not tolerate US remakes of UK shows. I am having a total temper tantrum over the remake of Being Human. There is NO WAY that show can translate to the US. The cultural differences are, in my opinion, too great. QAF worked for me only when they finally made the US/NA version it's own show and left most of the UK show's details behind. And since it is so rare to have a show about queer characters (particularly at that time) where they're not simply the comic relief, I was happy to have it.

Oh the fourth wall breaking thing has gotten right out of control on Supernatural. Mostly I enjoy it. It's sincerely disturbing to know that I'm (fandom) is being watched back. :D

I think the fourth wall is destined for extinction except for when agreed upon by both creators and audience. And I think that in the long run that's okay. It's this interim period, where everyone is adjusting to the changes, that's going to suck balls.

Panic is pretty much the only band my friend and I would go to such lengths for. I'm crazy attached to those silly kids. I saw My Chemical Romance at Bamboozle Left the week before I saw Panic, but Panic was the first proper concert I saw after finally getting back into music and they made a lasting impression. I have already figured out how to get to Florida (where my concert buddy friend lives now) via bus (I'm done with planes) for when Panic goes on tour again. Given the funds, I really would see them several times in a row. I never get tired of watching them.

oh jesus I just noticed your icon. I will say, the US version of that scene was unbearably hot and I made me very much appreciate that it was on Showtime so that we were actually allowed to see it. :D

They are remaking Being Human? WHYYyyyyy? (I'm still stuck somewhere in S2 mostly because it's more fun to watch in company and I seriously lack fanpeople nearby, hrmfp)
The strength of that story is precisely the fact that it's not situated in the US. The whole attitude towards the supernatural is different. Argh.

*clings to fourth wall*

Heh. Yeah, that scene is deliciously pervy. I introduced my brothers girlfriend to QAF last year and she was shocked, even though in the Netherlands we are quite used to nude scenes in our series and films and I had warned her it was rather -ehm- in your face with the sex *grins*

I originally saw the series on the BBC and was thrilled when I found DVD versions of it. (The added behind the scenes stuff is precious)

Because it was such a success in the UK, so naturally we should have one here! Plus I'm sure they think they'll be able to cash in on the Twatlight Twilight fervor. *gags* And exactly, re: attitude. *sigh* We also don't have the...history. White people have been here for a very short time, compared to Europe, and that lack of time makes things like myth and the supernatural come across more shallow here. IMO.

I've not watched the second season yet, I got distracted. I'm going to marathon it soon.

*giggles* Every time I think I'm adjusting to the level of lack of fourth wall in bandom (for example) one of them will kick the wall down just a bit more. I remember my amused-horror when I realized that VickyT just commented on a slash story about her and Greta from The Hush Sound that I had read and commented on. But Cobra Starship is particularly good at ignoring the fourth wall. Weirdos. :D

I got my mom to watch QAF with me. She actually got pretty into it, it was adorable. She just wished there was less sex though. heh

I saw the UK series on vhs, my friend sent me copies. At the time it felt almost illicit. :D
