On Monday, December 26 I celebrated my 42nd birthday, yay! I had people over on every day of the week, so I partied for days *g*. Here's a summary of the events...
Sunday, December 25
Brotherdearest Hans came over a day early. We had planned to continue our everlasting Buffy/Angel rewatch marathon, but of course we spent all evening talking instead. :-)
Monday, December 26
Happy Birthday to me! After a luxury breakfast (and my first presents; thank you for your package,
tanisafan!) Hans and I finally sat down to watch Buffy and Angel on the big screen. Not the happiest of episodes (we're in S5 and 2 respectively) but such awesome stories (background on Spike in both series and hello! Christian Kane;) that even brotherdearest sarcastically whispering 'happy birthday' in between the drama couldn't bring me down;)
In the afternoon Mom and Jan arrived, just after Hans and I had started on the birthday cake (What? we left them plenty). Time for more presents, yay! I also served snacks and felt very grown-up:)
I had made dinner-reservations at the Chinese restaurant in my neighbourhood. As y'all know I never eat out, so it always feels very special to do this for my birthday:) Great food, mmmm.
We chilled out some more at my place. Good times.
Tuesday, December 27
Another birthdayparty with movie- and bookbuddy Jelle:) After we had thoroughly discussed all the books we read (while eating cake, obviously), we went up to the attic for a couple of films. We watched Casino Jack, a political film with Kevin Spacey and Whatever Works, a Woody Allen film with Larry David. After dinner we continued with: JDM's scenes from PS I Love You [vidlink! nsfw!] \o/, Zombieland with Woody Harrelson and the first episode of Game Of Thrones. (Which I don't think I'll be watching on my own, it's nice, but I haven't seen anyone particularly fitting my interests;)
It was a very cool party.
Wednesday, December 28
The final party was a sleep-over:
sillie82 came over for two days of CSI, SPN and JDM. After talking about fandom and life, we spent most of our time up in the attic (in between meals and sleeping;) We caught up on CSI's Nick/Greg in season 12 (8 episodes) and watched 7 episodes of Supernatural. For our dose of JDM (hey, it's MY party) I had put Grey's Anatomy on the program (I had found S2 and 3 in the bargain bin, exactly the episodes with Denny Duquette's story-line, yay!) We managed three episodes.
We ran out of time on Thursday afternoon and since we couldn't watch the final two SPNs (9+10) together, we finished with Grey's Anatomy. I forgot how soap-like that was; it was fun to watch with someone who hadn't seen it before *grins*. (Thank you, Sil, for pointing out Denny's gravely voice;)
Thursday, December 29
After waving goodbye to Silvia, I had just enough time to get ready to cycle forty-five minutes through the rain for my massage appointment. Well worth the trouble. That was the best present I gave myself:) Although the stop at the adult-toy store on the way home was very rewarding as well *g*
Friday, December 30
Had planned to catch up with the internet, but spent all day reading. (Hey, I did laundry in between and left the house to buy sparkles, so not just lazy;)
Today I'm making another effort to answer mail and update all my social networks, but time is slipping away before I'm going to the arthouse with mom (I'm staying over at her place after that), so just in case I don't manage to speak to you personally: have a great New Year's Eve, be careful with fireworks and I see you all in 2012!

More photos of decorations, festivities and food. Thanks, everyone for cards, e-wishes and presents:)
