beelikejStill no school, but I got up early again: Helene and I take a taxi to the Teleferico (cable car) up Mountain Ruccu Pichincha. We were warned about standing in line for hours, but because we are ahead of the crowds, we don't have to wait long at all. On the way up the view is already impressive, but we climb a little higher for an even better view of Quito. It was hard work, but worth it:)
When we get down we take the bus to the area of town that is lovingly called 'Gringolandia': the modern part of Quito with at least three US-style malls (centros commerciales: CC) Since we have been emerged in South American culture all week we decide we earned some western food, so we have lunch at Burger King. *sigh of satisfaction* We do some (window)shopping in CC Caracol and go to the movies in CC Iñaquito: Superman Returns with my hero Kevin Spacey. And if seeing him on the big screen wasn't enough exitement for the day: in the trolley back home I have a little moment with a very nice looking joven (youngman;). He has amazing green eyes and a killer smile. It was a very good ride *g*.
Diner: rice, chicken, platanes (bananas) and carrots. At the kitchentable I hang with Rosa and Joff, who tries to explain to her that a person who learns well is called a 'pila' in slang. She doesn't know that modern expression, but agrees with him that I am like a battery. Thanks guys (*glows with pride*)
FYI: Joff doesn't know who Pat Benatar is, I feel sooo old.
