Almost finished reading The Temple Of My Familiar by Alice Walker. Woah. So many new insights in the history of black women. Much to think about. Recommended! The novel works as a stand alone but is connected to The Color Purple and Possessing The Secret Of Joy; for the full experience I'd recommend reading those books first. I learned a lot and got to know so many fascinating ladies. Humbling and rewarding.

Alice Walker rocks! Have you read "In Search of Our Mothers' Gardens"? It's kind of an autobiography, and it's wonderful!

Oooh, I haven't, thanks for the tip! I finally read The Color Purple last year after ignoring it in high school when I was all "if everybody is putting that book on their literature list, I'm not gonna". Teenage snobbery aside, I think it was a wise choice to wait, I probably wouldn't have been able to appreciate it. Of course now that I discovered Alice Walker's collection I must know all about her:)

I'm still not completely sold on the Yoga-thing, mostly because the teacher added mantras a couple of times, but the last class was wonderful and I'm not ready to give up on it yet. I also have to admit to slowly discovering changes in my ability to bend and stretch from just the one session a week. \o/

Ah yes, I know all about the frying of the brain (hence me pretty much being absent from LJ at the moment as well). In my case it's more that I'm just not getting enough sleep (I just can't seem to get myself to bed on time, so I'm only getting about 4.5 hours a night right now :/) *hugs*

Hope the situation will get better soon (but with Christmas coming up that's not very likely, is it?). Here's for hoping.

Thankfully I'm getting enough sleep, but I am so COLD all the time, hrmpf.
Work is ridiculous this time of year and with also new (temporary) co-workers to deal with, my weeks suck balls. Hope to negotiate about some time off tomorrow; I have 16 days (DAYS!!) of ATV-hours left, but can't use them all up because of sick and absent co-workers (the temporary ones can not be left alone to deal with the office and shop, USELESS!)
Is it Christmas yet? (at least that means an XL weekend;)
