Artwork SPN Cinema Challenge 2015!

For this year's edition of spn_cinema I picked the first film I ever saw in the cinema: Grease! An ode to the fifties yet definitely a timeless musical. Back in 1978 I had no idea how dirty the lyrics were, I just phonetically sang along;) It's still one of my favorite films. To keep with the tradition of actors who were too old to play highschoolstudents, I ignored the actual age difference between Jeff & Jensen and I also included a Chevy Impala, which hadn't even been born in this era. It's an Alternate Universe after all. :-p

Concept: Highschool AU. Bad boy Jeff falls in love with young, clean cut Jensen; they struggle with their romance amongst social expectations and high school politics.
Note: Made for 2015 edition of spn_cinema and dedicated to tmn1966: happy birthday, T.! The Ohio numberplate of the Impala is especially for you;)

In the art-section below you'll find manips, collages and more papercutting. I was inspired to put young Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the role of John Travolta (Danny) after seeing screenshots of Jeff in his first film Uncaged; he was such a bad boy in that. For his love interest I of course had to cast Jensen Ackles, because I adore the two of them together. :-p
My imagination went wilder than I was able to capture in art, but I did hint at my ideas (Jeff and his friends Danneel and Hillarie call themselves the J-birds; Jensen is an athlete and hangs with the Padalecki Posse...see if you can spot Jared and Chad in supporting parts)

Oh, to imagine Jeff and Jensen making out in the car. This scene at the drive in also features the 1967 Impala (I'm not only mixing media but also Supernatural canon with Real Person Slash, just because)

YOU RULE!! I adore this movie, and love your re-casting (young!JDM as Danny Zuko? twink!Jensen as Sandy? Aww, hells, yeah!)

And you know what? I will never again moan about how difficult it is to draw the Impala . . . because you've just carved a gorgeous version of her out of PAPER. Dang, woman. DANG. Most excellent work!

Thank you! I was really struggling with an overload of ideas and didn't know how to start. Then I remembered it was supposed to be fun and I just started fiddling without worrying about it being perfect. Of course I had to implement my own drive in experience, because those intermission films made me feel like I was actually in Grease. The exact same cartoons are in that movie!!

Heehee, thank you. This movie has a very special place in my heart (How I squeed when the same intermission cartoons from the Grease drive in scene were shown in the Route 66 Drive In, so cool).

I wish I could have done something with the basketball scene when John Travolta wears those tight shorts very similar to Dean's gymteacher. *grins* Next time.

I finally got to make an Impala, wahey! So relieved that worked out:)

Was tempted, but did not use my new blade yet: because I had limited time I chose to work with my familiar blade.

Wow, this is great! I always love your paper cutting, so the impala is totally my favorite part.

Also, I was old enough by the time I first saw Grease that I got how dirty it was, and really didn't like it (eh, I was a teen). I do like it now, but HOLY CRAP I would watch the Jensen/JDM version SO HARD!!

First off, this made me want to go to another drive-in movie with you. Most fun ever!!! Okay, well, maybe the most fun ever is looking at this post knowing that I was there for part of your process because it is cool as heck to see the intermission commercial there in your piece. :)

I love the movie poster!!! So much fun seeing all the different aspects of high school in there. And oh my gosh, you put the Giant Pencil in there! Hee!!!!!!!!

I love the dance scene, omg, it makes me giggle in delight each time I look at it!

And the drive-in scene! Ahhhh, I love you so much for the license plate for the Impala *smishes and squishes you forever and ever*
