I hate Bosie with a passion. Bastard.

Wow: this morning I woke up feeling a bit awkward and when I turned over to have a sip of water I realised why: I had rolled over without pain! Of course the stiffness was still there, but: no pain! Bliss.
I even managed to put on my socks and shoes all by myself, I felt so proud.
I had a McDonalds-date with Jelle today, who made a stopover on his way to Utrecht, so we could exchange books. He received HP-Deathly Hollows in return for part two of the "Green Flower"-trilogy: a Dutch book about a young gay guy in 1894 London. After he gets fired from his job in a men's clothing store, he works as a male prostitute and an artist's model. And he gets to hang out with Oscar Wilde and his posse (Bosie is as obnoxious as I remember him) Loads of cool dialogue, passionate encounters and unrequited love. It's lovely and angsty and very intriguing and I can't wait to continue after finishing the first part in one go.
Jelle did warn me the story might not go where I wanted but that only makes me more anxious to read it.
One critic called the writer 'a female Charles Dickens'. Ehm. Okay. I just hope she hurries up with part three and doesn't pull a Rowling on me;)
[Floortje Zwigtman - 'Een Groene Bloem' trilogie: 1=Schijnbewegingen, 2=Tegenspel, 3=...]
For those of you who can't read Dutch, here's a rec for an English fic, Nick/Greg NC17: Submission Games by
rispacooper The extensive style took a little getting used to, but I couldn't stop reading. Hot stuff.
I also noticed both
kennedy_unknown and
catlover2x have posted new N/G stories. I recommend those without reading them first. I trust those fics are as awesome as usual:)

Ahh, this is the awesome book you mentioned? I was thinking of passing by the bookstore during my lunchbreak, I might just see if they have Book One. Even though, yanno, I really don't need something else to eat my brain right now :P. But the summary sounds awesome!
I recommend those without reading them first.
Hee, safe bet ;). I'm saving Private Dick for when I have more time, so I can read it in one go.

Date: 2007-07-30 03:02 pm (UTC)himme;)Yep it is, I started reading this afternoon and will continue right after I finish my potty- and foodbreak;) FYI: I'm on page 281 (out of 489) and Oscar Wilde is about to go to trial against the accusations of Lord Queensberry. OMG. This is of course of great importance for every gay guy in London, including our hero. It's so fricking angsty, I'm dying I tell ya: dying! Now I'm sure part three will take years to be published. *shakes fist at Jelle for not informing me about that before I started part 1*
Heh. I'm going for delayed gratification* and will read both fics when they will be posted completely. *-still loves saying that-*
*hurries to kitchen for comfortfood*

Date: 2007-07-30 03:36 pm (UTC)And heh, Kennedy's fic is an intermezzo so it's only two parts - you won't be able to delay that, hee ;)!
Right. I will now make my way through the fucking hot weather, try not to pass out, and grab my train. Le sigh. Such odysseys for a day's work!

Date: 2007-07-30 06:52 pm (UTC)I hope Kennedy's story will give me comfort, because I'm gonna finish watching CSI S5E09 on RTL 4 first: "Mea Culpa" aka "Damn Ecklie".
What is this hot weather you speak of? Surely it must be moving South, since over here it is and will be around 18C, windy and stormy for the next days. I like it: suits my mood;)

Date: 2007-07-30 07:32 pm (UTC)Ohh, I hate that episode! *g* But I'm sure the Stokes & Sanders AU will cheer you right back up again ;). My computer is acting up so badly that I can't even open Word at the moment, let alone write the thesis. Guess I'll have to settle for watching Supernatural and South Park. Woe is me :P.
Ohh, how I wish for 18C and storminess! It's only gonna get hotter here, or so they tell me. *locks self inside behind the safety of the screen*

Date: 2007-07-30 08:11 pm (UTC)I just found out the final part will be ready at the end of next year: in an interview the author talks about the research she is doing for that book. I also manage to get a glimpse of a spoiler, dammit.
FYI: part one won the Golden Kiss award in the Netherlands (adult jury for best youth literature) and the Golden Owl award in Belgium! And together with part two she published a prologue (Kersenbloed) about the childhood of our hero, which I won't read yet. I will however buy the books myself asap, so I can reread them while waiting.
Oh man, that final scene with Warrick and Nick
worshippingsitting across from Grissom in the coffeeshop is so sad. (btw they both look good enough to eat in this scene as well: Warrick is the master of unbuttoned shirts and chocolate is such a good color on Nicky *licks*You poor thing. I hope you can continue work on the thesis soon;)
Right, I'm gonna read some comfortfic, because I want happy dreams tonight. My heart still aches. *clutches hanky*

Date: 2007-07-31 08:00 am (UTC)There, I just ordered the first book, yay! In the mean time, I can read the two Tanya Huff books I just got as a present from Nicole (yay, presents!), Blood Lines and Blood Trail.
Ooo, the Golden owl's the most prestigious Belgian award for youth literature (and wow, I just barely stopped myself from going into the whole politics surrounding that -- it's what happens if you've taken uni classes on youth lit ;). Should I order the prologue, or save it for when I've read the two books and am craving more in that universe?
Lord, those pictures are very distracting from my work at hand. Hmm. Nobody wears a half-buttoned shirt like Warrick Brown ;).

Date: 2007-07-31 05:41 pm (UTC)OOooh, see, I figured you would know that award. Jelle just informed me the prologue is not about our hero, but about the object of his affection. Either way, I'm saving it for after the trilogy. I definitely like Floortje's writing though, so I think I'll give her previous books a try.
Warrick is the king of showing off man-cleavage;) But I'm pretty sure Nick has given us more to look at over the years. Bless both of them.
