Another auwie

Apparently it's one of those weeks: today I sustained another* injury at work. I should've just stuck to my real job...
I was moving stacks of paper to their designated shelfs. This of course caused several papercuts, but that's something you get used to. What I didn't expect to happen was getting my thumb stuck behind a pile of boxes and then pushing said boxes against the folding machine, thereby crushing my thumb in between. Despite the pain I didn't think it was that bad, but then my thumb started to swell and it looked seriously crooked. I held it under cold water, which numbed the pain a bit, but still: AUW! Since I was able to bend the thumb, I continued working, trying to not use it too much. I also stayed far away from the paper area. I think I'm a lot safer if I stay close to my Mac. I'll let others do the heavy work from now on.
My thumb is still swolen and sore. Plus there is now a big bruise on it. Tonight I discovered I actually do quite a lot of things with my left hand. Like opening jars or picking up a glass and holding the remote control. Luckily I can type without using my thumb:)
*My bottomlip has healed, I am now able to have a snog again (anyone? Bueller?).

Date: 2008-03-12 10:13 pm (UTC)I strongly suggest you stay away from paper and tape and other such primitive office devices, and stick to computerized work. It is, after all, our strong suit. (You're not alone, after all. I stapled my finger, once. It was not pretty.)
