I spent the last three days with
tanisafan, who was once again brave enough to travel all the way up to the Netherlands and stay with me.
It's impossible to describe how awesome it was, so I'm just gonna post our program and you can fill in the squee:) All the series and films are highly recommended. As is the company of Tanni.
For those of you who missed earlier rare episodes of 'J has people over': when I speak of upstairs, I'm talking about my attic, which I converted to a tiny theatre with a big movie screen and theatre seats. I force people to watch movies without intermission. There is no speaking during the film either. There are rules.
Part 1: Saturday
I bought enough food to feed ten Tannis, so after picking her up from the station, we first had a large lunch before going upstairs for:
Torchwood double feature S2 Ep11 + 12 (Adrift & Fragments) Angels In America Gavin & Stacey double feature S2 Ep 1 + 2 High Fidelity
In between we went downstairs for dinner. We brought Ben & Jerry back to the attic.
Torchwood obviously needs to be rewatched many many times *g*. I had seen Angels in America before and was overwhelmed all over again. Gavin & Stacey were adorable as ever. High Fidelity was an accidental addition to the program, but John Cusack is always on our to-watch-list:)
Part 2: Sunday
After a big breakfast with hot buns and eggs, we snuggled in the attic for:Waltz (part 1 and 2) State And Main A Bit Of Fry And Laurie Cambridge Footlights Revue (1982) The Secret Policeman's Ball (1978/1979) Bottom Live (1993) Lovers, Liars And Lunatics CSI: S2Ep8 Slaves Of Las Vegas
(That CSI episode is perfect if you ever long for the good ol' days: it has it all; cool Grissom quotes, appropriately dressed for the job Catherine (seriously), Sara and Warrick working as a team, Brass, Lady Heather and of course our boys: oblivious Nick and teasing Greg. Definitely one of the best episodes ever. Liquid latex, people!)
Besides breaks for lunch and diner, we also sat down in between the comedy to do some arts & crafts. While we were waiting for the paint to dry I made Tanni watch part of my Oprah DVD box, because she had never heard of Nate Berkus. It's a good thing I'm available for tutoring;)
Part 3: Monday
This time we took breakfast and lunch upstairs to save time. We watched:
The History Boys De Daltons (Dutch children's series about three brothers) The Wedding Banquet
Oh boys.
Too bad we had to get back to the real world after, where things don't always turn out well. *hugs flist* I wish we could have stayed inside for ever, where it's nice and warm. No snow, no stupid people, just comfort.
This is how it always should be. *sighs*
I feel a little lonely now. But oh-so satisfied. Bliss.

Date: 2008-03-26 08:32 pm (UTC)Nate is so very adorable. I wouldn't let him touch my furniture though. But he may sit on my couch and be pretty;)

Nate is pritteh. Not very good at being a decorator, but very pritteh. Which, clearly, is what matters most *nods*.
It was SO wonderful. I wish I could cocoon like that forever, too, instead of get dumped back into the world which, it turns out, still sucks a whole lot. But it definitely recharged my batteries, so yaaaay!
I had a fucking awesome time. *hugs you like whoa*
