1. Reply to THIS post, and I will select four or five of your userpics that I like.
2. Make a entry and talk about the icons I have chosen.
3. Other people will then comment on your entry and you will do the same as I have done for you.
4. Thus creating a NEVER ENDING CYCLE of icon merriment.
I told
chemfishee how I thought this meme was a scam by TPTB at LJ for mocking the freeloaders people with a basic account for only having six icons and she selected ALL of my icons. Thanks for rubbing it in.
My iconcollection represents my obsessions. All designs by yours truly.

Books: I needed an icon for my bookposts (and the
thej2bee community). The book I'm reading in the picture is part 2 of the Green Carnation trilogy by Floortje Zwigtmans, which was recommended to me by Jelle and can not be pimped enough. I managed to make every person in my vicinity* read it (*and beyond, praise be the internetz!). If it will ever be translated in English, you will be next to fall under its spell, trust me. (Here's a teaser if you're curious;) The final part will -hopefully- be released in February 2009.

Kate: Some time ago I suddenly realized I only had icons with pictures of men. This had to be remedied and who better to represent my love for women than Kate Nash. Her lyrics are brilliant plus she is sweet and cute as a button. One of my inappropriate crushes, because she is so very much younger than I am. But her songs makes me merry happy:) This icon was part of a set of three and I asked my flist to pick the one they liked best.

Kiss: The oldest icon in my collection was made in honour of the pairing that lured me to LiveJournal in the first place. Through CSIs Nick and Greg/fanfiction I discovered the joy of LJ-communities and I had to be part of the fun. The guys are still my OTP and not just because I made many awesome friends thanks to them;) It's chemistry, people.

A Lot On My Mind: Even though this picture kind of breaks my heart a little, I love it lots. I use it on sad posts, because despite the hurt, the pretty colours and sideburns comfort me. I want to hug it and ruffle Nick's hair.

Shoot to Kill: My pissed off icon, representing my love for Torchwood. I identify with Owen on every level. And the quote that goes with this icon fits me perfectly. ("Well, if kids are out at midnight, they've got it coming")

Panic: My current default icon. A statement in more than one way. There are a lot of thoughts that go with this one. Because of my love for Panic At The Disco, I had to have an icon dedicated to them. My original design was a hint to bandom, with a very popular picture of Brendon and Ryan plus a song-quote. But after seeing the guys in concert it just felt wrong to slash them, even if they themselves used to hint at it on stage.
In addition it made me too aware of my inappropriate crushing (they are even younger than Kate for fuck's sake). So instead I chose to out myself as a fangirl, wearing the too tiny girlsize-shirt I would never wear in public. Not only is this a way of dealing with my boob-issues, but it's also a very clever reference to the kind of pictures Ryan used to post in his journal. Thus it is accompanied by the lyric "I've got more wit". ;)
For those of you who might have missed it, here is my original Panic-icon:

What? It is for YOUR benefit, really *g*

Date: 2008-07-09 06:55 pm (UTC)I know they started it and keep the fire burning even, but I really shouldn't. No. It's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality. Or something. *g*
