Fanworks auction for Syria refugees
Oct. 10th, 2015 02:18 pmBecause I feel so powerless about the situation and the horrid responses from people in my country (The Netherlands) and other Europeans towards refugees looking for a safe place, I'd like to at least spread awareness about the refugee situation. To promote donations of any kind, I ask your attention for the charity auction set up by
fandom4syria: As many of you have likely seen on various newspapers and news stations around the world, millions of people from Syria have been displaced by the fighting going on in the country. Some have fled to the surrounding Middle Eastern nations but as those neighbors have been maxed out many more have continued onward to Europe and elsewhere in search of a safe place to live. Many have traveled with very little if anything in the way of day to day needs and the various agencies are struggling to provide anything more than just the bare essentials for so many people.
alycat made a post on her journal highlighting the difficulties the refugees are facing and asking for help going above and beyond to take care of them.
lady_simoriah is amplifying that call and passing it along to all of you by running this charity community.
Since I currently lack the financial means to donate more money,
I'm offering a piece of paperart, my thread starts here.
More fanwork-offers in the auction or buy it now posts! The auction runs until October 22.
For background information I recommend this interactive impression of a refugee's journey by the BBC.
