It's been a rough week on the job; I got a new intern, fought with machines and had to juggle my own clients around because of other people's poor planning. *sighs* But I managed not to maim or kill anyone, so that's a plus I suppose. One more day until the weekend! \o/

I've been working on some bookreviews. I still haven't managed to finish the ones for the big books I read the past few weeks (This is All by Aidan Chambers and Arthur Japin's diary, which I already squeed about while I was in the middle of it) but hopefully I will be able to capture my awe in words this weekend.

In the meantime, here are three books I also recommend:

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Intern At Your Own Risk
I promised [livejournal.com profile] artistic_sillie my point of view on the CSI Manga that I read after last weekend's poll about my bookpile. As expected I finished it in one reading day (back and forth on the bus to work, I have about 60-90 minutes every day). It succeeded my expectations on the artwork; what I had seen so far wasn't very impressive, but these drawings were fun! It helped that the artist used a more generic style and didn't try to make a failed photocopy of the characters. Grissom doesn't look exactly like the one we know from tv, but he is sophisticated beardy manga-dude. Nick is a basic broad-shouldered crew cut guy and Catherine is a Barby-doll with an attitude. I adored the short appearance of a very cheeky Greg in his labrat persona.
The story about a group of interns getting involved in a casefile is very simple and it didn't take me long to figure out 'who did it', which made it a little boring. But the inclusion of romance was charming and I enjoyed myself imagining additional scenarios for my favorite characters. There sure are a couple of fanfiction stories I would love to see in this format;)

The other bookreviews were posted in [livejournal.com profile] thej2bee:
  • Postcards From No Man's Land - Aidan Chambers
  • Boy - James Hanley

  • I'm currently reading two books: Bill Bryson - Troublesome Words on the way to work, and Maarten 't Hart - Het Dovemansorendieet on the way back; neither can hold my attention for a returntrip;)

    I survived! \o/

Am going to try a spectacular cupcake recipe tomorrow and have reservations to see 'A Single Man' with mom. (Will also subject her to taste the cupcakes...)

Will watch latest CSI (lot of comments I'm avoiding out of fear for spoilers, but I sense a good vibe...) and will continue catching up with West Wing. (Season 1, Ep 3)

So it should be pretty chill, yes:)
