I was updating my readinglist with links to my travelpost, when I found out that Photobucket removed a photo out of my Iceland collection because it 'violated terms of use'!


Friday, March 19: statue in front of Hotel Geysir, Haukadalur, Iceland.

I have re-uploaded the image in Blogger and LJ's scrapbook, so at least my album of Iceland is complete again on both my Dutch Blog and my Journal.

I wish Photobucket would notify me and tell me why. Do you think I should try and ask?
I couldn't find any more information about the statue, so I don't know if I'm violating image rights or something. I fear the image itself is the reason it was banned, but don't TPTB request an active flagging of the picture? Who would do that? Don't tell me one of you was offended?

So much for going to bed early. *sighs*

Well, there are other photos of outdoors statues in my Iceland collection and so far, they are still up... Hmmm. I guess this one was *special*

I had some model pics removed for "tos violations" too. The guys were naked, but they weren't like *naked*. It was like art naked.

Luckily I have enough other corners to put up my pictures, I had only used Photobucket this time, because it uploads big batches faster than LJ's scrapbook or my blogger.

I think I would ask, if I were you. I see no apparent reason for them to remove it, and they're your own photos, right? Unless there is something in the TOS regarding photos of artwork (surely not? Though, like you say, it might be a blanket policy to remove such photos in case the artwork is under copyright, or something), then I think you're owed an explanation.

I sent them a mail today. Obviously it's in the TOS that they don't have to explain themselves, but I really hope they can tell me why they deleted it. There are other statues in the photo album as well, and I did find a reference to image rights in the rules, but I really don't think it applies here.
