Received the official offer from the buildingsociety for buying my apartment. As expected the real estate agent made a higher estimate than the one I used to apply for a mortgage, so I will have to go to the bank again to see if I'm worthy. I've also realized it's not just that loan that's going to change my financial situation; I also have to consider taxes (tax-returns?) and additional costs for ownership of a house. *sighs* I'm already tired of playing the adult.
Why are there no new Big Bang stories in the weekend? I could use the distraction. Although it's rather intimidating to see the art that has been made so far. Jeebus. Even if you're not in the SPN/J2 fandom, you should check out this artwork:
woodstarling made beautiful character cards for "A Spotlight On These Desolate Dreams" by
mournthewicked.
And
dauntdraws's glorious graphic drawings make me wish there was a whole comic of "SuperCross" by
lazy_daze.
The various Photoshop artists have suprised me in both good and bad ways. It's not in my nature to feel insecure about my work, but it has been a bit overwhelming to see all the different kinds of styles;) The only thing I am a tiny bit worried about is the pixelsize of my art. Since I usually work for high resolution printwork, size has always been an issue when making online designs, so to force myself to keep things LJ-friendly I am working with a 600 pixel width maximum for my banners. Seeing some people post HUGE artwork makes me wonder if I shouldn't have started out big as well. I really don't feel like building from scratch again. Oh well, the 'big' in 'bang' is really only meant for the wordcount of the stories, right? RIGHT? *bites lip*

Date: 2010-06-13 08:41 am (UTC)And yees, I remember all the house buying crap. It costs a retarded amount of money. But at least you're spending money towards something you'll own, compared to just paying rent and basically not having anything in the end? You can do it!

Date: 2010-06-13 07:44 pm (UTC)I still have personal issues with getting into debt for a future that is far away, even at my age. From my perspective ownership will move from the buildingsociety to the bank, and when it comes down to it the bank can't help me if I need things fixed and the buildingsociety is only a call away if the pipes spring a leak. (I was taking a shower this morning, staring at the former hole in the wall and remembered how much fun that was).
I have a long weekend off next week, will spend my time figuring out finances and feelings. Woohoo.

Date: 2010-06-13 03:55 pm (UTC)I usually go with these sizes for the art them size them down with lj for the post with a link to the larger size.
Banners - 800x360 or 800x400
Wallpapers - 1920x1200 (widescreen)| 1600x1200 (fullscreen)| 1024x768 (Standard)| 800x600 (Old Standard)
Icons - 100x100
Soundtrack Art - 500x500
Those are just my numbers but I can tell you that 600 is a good width for banners! :D

Date: 2010-06-13 07:48 pm (UTC)I used to work from big bases as well, but found it hard to figure out readibility when I would resize at the end. That's why I now always start with the final pixel size; so I don't get tempted to put more stuff in a banner than it can handle.
Hey, I got the soundtrack covers spot on! Go me:)

Date: 2010-06-13 07:53 pm (UTC)I usually do 500x500 for the soundtrack cover because it shows up well on itunes/ipod :D
Like Yas said above, all that matters is that you are happy and she is happy with the art!
*hugs*

Date: 2010-06-13 08:39 pm (UTC)I totally know what you mean by being overwhelmed. The SPN fandom has so many awesome artists (like daunt) that I sometimes get a bit insecure. :'3 But hey, as long as people comment, I'm doing something right. :D

Date: 2010-06-13 08:49 pm (UTC)Hey, you are one of the few people with pencil based art, that is already impressive;) I love that there are so many different ideas on offer; even if I don't like everything it's really great to get such a dose of inspiration!
