Goodbye 2010, hello 2011
Jan. 1st, 2011 08:27 pmHappy New Year, everyone!
I hope you all had the kind of transition-celebrations you wanted, I had a very good time at my mom's, who pampered me even while she was at work. She left me great food and got home in time to light sparkles and hug at midnight. \o/
Here are some pictures of my wonderful New Year's Eve and first look at the world in 2011.

Mom left me food and instructions for stove and microwave:)

Delicious dinner while watching Sound Of Music!

In the freezer I found a special dessert: 'Macarons de Paris'. Mmmm.
Mom came home from work around 11 pm, earlier than expected, so we could have some snacks together before the fireworks started...

In the Netherlands it is customary on New Year's Eve for people to buy and light their own fireworks at midnight; we have a wonderful view from my mom's balcony on the surrounding neighbourhood. (A lot of people have to start lighting their fireworks during the day, just to get through it all. I do not approve of this.)

These private fireworks last for over an hour (and often continue the next day with left overs, grumble).

Mom and I simply light a couple of sparklers; no noise, just pretty lights:)

After our little closing ceremony for 2010, we watched Hootenanny (Hootenanny!) with Jools and Kylie and Roger Daltrey and other magnificent musicians.
The next day I started 2011 with the awesomest shower in the world before cycling home. I had to stop halfway to take pictures of the beautiful blue(!) sky.

In the distance the bridge for cars (and pedestrians, bicycles, etc.) between my mom's neighbourhood and mine.

This bridge is for pedestrians, bicycles and public transport only. No private cars allowed.

My appartment survived the vicious fireworks in my neighbourhood (unlike the busstop across the street, so glad I stayed at my mom's;)
In case you missed it; I updated my 2010 readinglist for the final time and started a new pile of books for 2011.
So far I've enjoyed the new year; I read a beautiful new J2-story by
felisblanco: The Puzzle (That is Me). Read the author's note and warning to find out if it's for you. I highly recommend it.

Date: 2011-01-01 10:07 pm (UTC)I have missed so many promising films last year, Despicable Me being one of them. It's mostly because I can't stand the cinema crowd anymore (I blame cellphones;) and I lack the patience to sit down for them at home. :( Maybe I should plan a movie marathon up in my attic, that may work.
Oooh, was that the interview where Brendon talks about how Panic made the previous albums and how he and Spencer worked together for the new one? I read an interview without a source on Tumblr.

Date: 2011-01-02 10:12 am (UTC)Jools was awesome as usual, mom was all giddy about Roger Daltrey, heehee (as was I, not gonna lie). Kylie. Yes. I'm not a fan of the ballads but she is always lovely.
Heh. Those eyes have been there for years; they've been up in every one of my bedrooms ever since college (iirc;). Remind me to give you an extensive tour of my apartment on your next visit *g*

Date: 2011-01-02 03:36 pm (UTC)The feedback I've gotten until now has been nothing but amazing, even, or maybe I should say especially, from people well familiar with Asperger's. Which is just... such a relief. I'm not kidding myself, it's not like I expect an all around love fest (I'm staying the hell away from those anon comms, it's like sipping venom straight from the bottle even stepping a toe near those places) but when people that know the subject personally tell me I've got it pretty right, it's more than I could have asked for. So yay for that! :)
