BigBang 2011 ARTPOST the first

Oh yes, it's that time of year again: the SPN_J2 BigBang! Working on art for this challenge was one of the reasons I haven't been posting as much as usual, so if you missed me, I hope this makes up for it;)
On claiming day I picked the sci-fi summary from
angelhorny* because I found the idea of a virtual world very intriguing. I had fun coming up with a concept to visualize that. I hereby proudly present my artwork for.... *drumroll*

Title: Into The Void
Author:
angelhorny*
Artist:
beelikej
Medium: Photoshop & Illustrator
*ETA: the author changed her name in February 2012 but because the original letters work so well, I've kept the original 'Angelhorny' up. I did add a banner with the new name behind the cut:)
Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Story-rating: NC-17
Summary:After a big epidemic that almost wiped half of the population on Earth, a very sick Jensen was placed in animated suspension until he could be cured. Subsequently Jared's soul was transfered into a virtual world in order for his brain to survive. Many years later, after Jensen gets cured, they meet: Jensen wants to get reacquainted with the universe and Jared is his pilot. What will happen when they fall in love, since one is 'real' and the other is in a virtual world; will they ever be able to really be together?
Warnings: Bit of angst, Alternative Universe, schmoop.

Hidden in these pieces are my own photos and illustrations, but also a lot of pictures from several sources. More information about all the images I used can be found in my BigBang Sourcepost 2011.
Thank you
angelhorny, for providing inspiration; your honest input gave me the push I needed to sparkle my imagination. I'm really glad we finally get to share our creations with the rest of fandom:)
As always BIG thanks to
wendy and
thehighwaywoman for the perfect organisation of the
spn_j2_bigbang.
Last but not least: thank YOU for stopping by! Just in case you don't know already: comments are always welcomed. Whether you want to share your love, hate or indifference;)

Date: 2011-07-18 03:24 pm (UTC)I like how all of your art has the same style! And I like how you have made symbols/pictures out of zeros and ones. :-) It all add to giving an impression of virtual reality.
I haven't read the story, so I cannot have an opinion on how well it fits with the story. It does fit with the summary, and I do know that I think this is, im my opinion, the best art you have made so far!
I also loves how you have taken into account different backgrounds!
Good job! Well done! *claps hands*
pst - one of the pictures are missing!

Date: 2011-07-19 09:31 pm (UTC)I made the zero/one designs in Illustrator and those were the first drawings I made after reading the draft of the story; after that I spent a lot of time trying to figure out a way to incorporate them in a spacey looking background while also including Jensen and Jared. I'm pleased with how it all came together:)
Thank you!
(Oh no, I know I almost forgot to post one chapterheader, but it looks to me like everything is there now; is the picture still missing after you refresh the page?)

Date: 2011-07-19 10:31 pm (UTC)I haven't touched illustrator for years. Don't think i would have known how to use that program now. lol
Yeah, picture still missing: http://pics.livejournal.com/beelikej/pic/001g63bc
It's just an X
It's the one after Chapter 5.

Date: 2011-07-20 10:16 am (UTC)Ahw, yes, found the code, thanks. Strangely enough the X didn't show up in my view, but I found the problem nevertheless. I did some last minute changes on the chapter five banner (added freckles to transform Dean into Jensen;) and apparently forgot to remove the old link. THANKS for pointing it out!
