Already done a lot of chores today, including sorting finances, clearing the table from clutter and selecting photo's for my last picspam about the UK trip. I even remembered to have a proper breakfast and lunch! I'm now ready to take out the trash and then go to the arthouse with mum.

While I was busy I've been listening to the soundtrack of Matilda The Musical (music & lyrics by the fabulous Tim Minchin) and I'm just gonna put my favorite song up here to treasure. Not gonna lie: it still makes me choke up and cry, just like when I saw it performed on stage.

When I grow up,
I will be tall enough to reach the branches
That I need to reach to climb the trees
You get to climb when you're grown up.

And when I grow up,
I will be smart enough to answer all
The questions that you need to know
The answers to before you're grown up.

And when I grow up,
I will eat sweets every day,
On the way to work, and I will
Go to bed late every night.
And I will wake up
When the sun comes up, and I
Will watch cartoons until my eyes go square,
And I won't care 'cause I'll be all grown up.

When I grow up (x 4)...
I will be strong enough to carry all
The heavy things you have to haul
Around with you when you're a grown up.

And
When I grow up (x 3)...
I will be brave enough to fight the creatures
That you have to fight beneath the bed
Each night to be a grown up.

And when I grow up,
I will have treats every day,
And I'll play with things that mum pretends
That mums don't think are fun.

And I will wake up
When the sun comes up and I
Will spend all day just lying in the sun.
And I won't burn 'cause I'll be all grown up.
When I grow up...

(Ms. Honey:)
When I grow up,
I will be brave enough to fight the creatures
That you have to fight beneath the bed
Each night to be a grown up.

When I grow up...

(Matilda:)
Just because you find that life's not fair, it
Doesn't mean that you just have to grin and bear it.
If you always take it on the chin and wear it, nothing will change.
Just because I find myself in this story,
It doesn't mean that everything is written for me.
If I think the ending is fixed already,
I might as well be saying I think that it's OK,
And that's not right!

Oh, that's just lovely. I've so many new things from you.

I know I haven't commented on your previous post of your trip, but I just love all the photos you shared. I think I told you before that I've heard of Panic! at the Disco, but never listened to their music until you sent me links.

And now this. I'm woefully uneducated. Thankfully I have a good friend who kicks me into this century. ;)

BTW, I too was quite productive these past two days. I am very proud of myself for one very big thing. I told my old boss that I would not go into the office and do something for her yesterday. It was my day off! I think it's the first time I've ever told her 'no'. I earned my big girl pants yesterday.

Looking forward to your last picspam of your trip. :)

*hugs*

I love musicals* and Matilda is definitely one of the best I've ever seen (and I'm not just saying that because of Tim Minchin - see icon;)
I found an even better preview of the show: with songs and images from the actual show instead of rehearsals!

I plan to post the London photos tomorrow. Who knew a 5 day trip would take so long to review. I've not stopped reliving all my time with Panic yet.

You are amazing! Well done, those big girl pants look great on you:)

*Did I ever tell you Grease was the first film I ever saw in the cinema?

It's still such a great songs (especially combined with the visual of the swingsets)! Quiet is still my favorite, it makes me well up every time. For reasons. <3

I love Quiet for the lyrics and I can relate to your reasons too, but When I Grow Up has such beautiful groupsinging (it's easier to sing a long with while sobbing;) and the hope for solutions to life when you grow up just kills me. ALL THE FEELINGS, ALL OF THEM.

I've been browsing for vids and found this beauty with all the Matildas, I think we had the sweetest of them all;)

Oh, also: how much are we loving the hidden track on the soundtrack?

Also also: BRUCE! "He should have thought of that before he made a pact with SATAN and decided to steal my cake!"

Also, also also: when Miss Trunchbull calls for 'Cook', I still hear something else. O_o
