Cover yourself in chocolate glory
Mar. 11th, 2012 11:05 pmDon't get me wrong: I really like being on my own, but sometimes I wish my sexlife was like fanfiction. *sighs* Alas, I don't get to spend all day fiddling with a significant other, so I have other ways to entertain myself. Yesterday I made chocolate cupcakes with raspberry frosting and white chocolate sprinkles. That was fun and I ended up with chocolate covered bowls and spoons to lick, yay!
Now, just to be clear: this is NOT a continuation of the cupcake experiment from 2010. But *someone* (St. Nick) gave me a box with ingredients plus instructions and obviously I'm not one to waste a promise of chocolate goodness.
It was reminiscent of my previous cupcake baking experience though. Plus this time I got to use a pipingbag. *insert insane laughter*

All I had to add was butter, oil, milk and an egg.
(I had set up my fancy cups, but decided to use the paper cups that came with the box)

Not gonna lie: I almost put the butter in the mix too, but found out just in time that was supposed to go with the frosting. Pfew.

I swear I divided the batter equally; I don't know why the cups are all of a sudden these different shapes. What the hell?

While the cakes were supposedly baking, I mixed the frosting powder with the soft butter. I was a little weary, because it seemed to be all lumpy, but after a while it did become an 'even' mass of pink goo, woohoo!

Tadaah: two round cupcakes, one not so round, and three -ehm- ovals? *takes a bow* Also: I totally managed to get the goo in the pipingbag without airbubbles, ha!

Ahem, but then I cut too big a hole and didn't realize I could have practiced piping swirls over the bowl... I had already finished these disastrous pink turds, when
rabidfan kindly explained this to me;) - if there ever is a next time, I'm totally gonna ask her for help before I start.

Even the generous amount of white chocolate sprinkles couldn't cover up this disaster. Not all of them were completely baked either; despite the extra ten minutes I left them in the oven. Meh.

BUT THEY ALL TASTED PRETTY GOOD, SO THERE :-P
Oh, speaking of fiddling and fanfiction: I send my finished artwork for the
john_w_bigbang to my author. Hope she likes it. *bites lip* All will be revealed in about two weeks!

I remember that you have a counter-top oven, yes? That isn't ideal for baking, as you've discovered. I'm afraid you'll have a lot of trial and error before you get perfect results. Fortunately, imperfect results taste as good as perfect ones!

Afdgh... sorry for all the edits!

Date: 2012-03-12 09:43 am (UTC)I started on my artwork right after claiming and have been working on my design for the past three weeks, but I think it's good to go now. (I hope the author agrees, I sent her updates on the sketching proces every weekend)
Good luck with your artwork! (I didn't know you participated in this challenge! Very curious to see your John/Jeff:)
