I've been so occupied with my artwork for the Cinema Challenge that I completely forgot to update my journal with events in real life! Lots of turmoil in the past few weeks. As you may recall I've been looking for a new job, ever since the bossman tried to cut my hours last year (I succesfully objected to this at the national employment agency and they decided he was indeed not allowed to do this) I'm still working full time, but the atmosphere is not that great and after being with this company since 1996, this is hard to deal with. Anyway, moving on to two weeks ago when my old counselor (who's guiding our current intern) told me about an opportunity at my old school. I called and was invited for an interview which resulted in a part-time job as an instructor, starting tomorrow! *deep breath* I'll let you know if I survive the group of teenagers later this week... If anything it's a chance to find out if teaching suits me (place your bets now;)

That's the good news. Now for the not so fantastic part of this update: I've seriously injured my shoulder. I'd blame it on the intense paper cutting, but I'm pretty sure it's a combination of stress and additional manual labour at work. I tried to let the arm rest this weekend, and kept a strict pain-killers schedule, but I fear it will keep bothering me for a little while longer. Unfortunately being aware of the stress factor doesn't mean the physical issue is cured right away. I may look into getting some muscle relaxants at the pharmacy tomorrow. *fingers crossed* Besides the new job, I will still be going to my regular work in the afternoons, because my co-worker has next week off. I already know I have more physical chores to do so at least the beginning of this week will be a little crazy. I have dinner planned at mom's on Monday so I'll be treated to food and pampering for a couple of hours;)

I also have Thursday to look forward to, because I'M GOING TO LONDON with [livejournal.com profile] tanisafan! We got tickets for the WB/Harry Potter Studios Tour and for a performance of The Rocky Horror Picture show. We've also planned to check out several musea and will be traveling to Oxford for some nerding, woohoo!

After all that I'll have time to continue my squee over the awesome summaries I managed to claim for this year's [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang. As per fandom etiquette I won't reveal my authors just yet, but I'm thrilled that both of them have already contacted me! I can't wait to read the full stories: I've uploaded them on my e-reader and will start brainstorming on the bus tomorrow! (Provided those students haven't sucked my brain, eeep)

There was more, but I'm gonna give my shoulder a break now. I'm going to step away from the internet to catch up on CSI with a double feature of the two latests episodes on my big screen up in the attic.

Remind me I still have to share some glorious goodies I found on Tumblr with y'all. When I get back from London, I'll finally do that nostalgia-meme two people tagged me in and I need to catch up on all the great art and fic in the [livejournal.com profile] spn_cinema. Why is there not more time, I want to do ALL THE THINGS.

Ooooh, yay for the new job! I'm sure you'll be awesome!

Yikes about the shoulder though. *hugs carefully* Being in pain is not fun. :(

Okay, that tour at the Harry Potter Studio sounds absolutely awesome. Looks like Tanya and you will have a great time in London. :D

Yaaay, big bang! I don't know who my author is just yet, but the reveal post should be up later today. So curious to find out who it is. :D

Have fun watching CSI! :D

Thanks. I'm not sure "my" students agree with you, but whatever *cracks whip*

I think I found a good painkiller now, here's hoping it keeps the arm numb for a couple more hours. Yesterday I had already used the maximum dose of another type before I went to bed and I hardly got any sleep *pouts* I'M SO LOOKING FORWARD TO TIME OFF AND LONDON!

Hope you connected with your author already and can get started. I'm reading, but won't get truely into it until after I get back. School, work and traveling are occupying my time and brain right now. JUST ONE AND A HALF DAY TO GO \o/

Congrats on the job! I seriously hope the teenagers play nice - or else you should let fandom loose on them... they won't stand a chance!

I am so happy BigBang-season is on now! I have read half the first story - don't know who has written the second one yet.....

Thursday is going to be a great day for many of us then. :-)

Have fun with CSI. :-)

Thank you:) So far I got thing reasonably under control, they can mostly work on their own so I'm busy keeping an eye on them not going on the internet (Ahem).

I saw the reveal list just now and it looks like you claimed some awesome authors, hope you are already in touch with them!

CSI was a bit of a shock to the system, because I can't get used to Nick having a beard. Oh boy.

I can't wait until it's Thursday!

Yay for a teaching job! \o/ I myself am allergic to teenagers, so may the Force be with you! ;)

Are you wearing a sling, bb? I tend to eff up my shoulder every five or six years, and I've learned that immobilizing the arm does WONDERS.

Why is there not more time, I want to do ALL THE THINGS.

My thoughts exactly! Too many things, not nearly enough time. Best of luck on the teaching tomorrow, and TAKE CARE OF THAT SHOULDER!

Not gonna lie: they are not my favorite species either (I don't remember being this unmotivated for school, but of course we didn't have fancy computers with internet back then;)

I am not, but that was a great suggestion, because it taught me how to best keep my arm up, THANK YOU. I also managed to finally find a satisfying painkiller (so far, I'm seeing how long it works, but plan to at least keep one pill for bedtime, because last night I already had the maximum dose before dinner and I hardly slept, grrr)

Fortunately I only have one and a half day to go and then I have an XL weekend of fun and relaxation before I dive into the BigBang pool of awesome:)
