My summervacation: day 7
Jul. 26th, 2013 04:41 pmToday's chores were all computer-related. I've updated my Art Masterlist and did some designing for my personal website. I'm trying to make it presentable enough for potential employers... I've also updated my curriculum vitae and have been browsing job- and training websites. Have not find anything worthwile yet, but the rest of the afternoon and evening is for fun, yay!
Since I love complaining, allow me to make a couple of grumpy statements.
Oh, Weather
We now officially have a heatwave in the Netherlands. /o\The rules for this are: five days in a row with a minimum temperature of 25 Celsius, including three days of at least 30 Celsius. *weeps* I'm not made for hot weather. I do have a fantastic fan set on me as we speak (Airco is not a common feature here) and I bought lots of ice (I'm not sure if there is a generic word for that in English: I got traditional Rocket popsickles on a stick and a box of Sinassplits which is icecream on a stick covered with orange sorbet) so I'm trying to keep cool. It's not easy.
Oh, Livejournal
Earlier this month I found out the lay-out in my artposts where I resized and sorted images based on height had been distorted. Thanks to some help of brotherdearest I discovered the problem was located in LJ's CSS, that now disables adjusting height in the html-coding.
Since I couldn't manage to overwrite this in my custom stylesheet, I sent in a support request to LiveJournal this morning. I hope they have an easy solution because I really don't want to go back through all my pictureposts to adjust the coding. Hrmpf.
This issue is another step towards moving to Dreamwidht completely, since the same (cloned) posts are still perfectly fine over there.
Oh, Fandom
After the 'leaked' weddingpictures of Steve Carlson there is now quite some hoopla going on in Supernatural fandom (on Tumblr) about the paparazzi photos of baby J.J.
I think Danneel and Jensen are perfectly capable of handling this situation themselves, but any fan who feels the need to protect them and make a statement is welcome to. I just don't understand why that has to be done aggressively and why people are attacking each other over this. Djeebs, calm down.
Personally I don't feel comfortable reposting pictures that are made without permission, yet I admit I was happy to get a glimpse to settle my totally unjustified concerns and curiosity about Danneel and the baby. I also sneaked more than a peek at last year's beachphotos of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and his son.
I know their kids and their private time is none of my business, but it's hard to ignore any kind of news when you feel a little bit emotionally invested in the life of these people whose work you watch and adore. So I completely understand if anyone is so thrilled with information they want to share everything and I won't judge you. I will however side-eye you pretty hard if you threaten other people because they don't share your point of view.
Here, have a wonderful genderswapped version of that ludicrous song Blurred Lines. Hopefully this will educate people who didn't understand the problematic lyrics and video of the original: Mod Carousel (a Seattle based boylesque troupe)
